A hidden gem.
If you're looking for a relaxing get-away in a secluded and lovely setting, you'll find it here. Everything about our stay was first rate, down to the last detail. The home and surrounding yard and gardens is impeccably kept and inviting. The apartment is warm and welcoming, with everything a vacationer needs to make it a memorable stay. The photo doesn't do it justice - it's also a wonderful wedding venue. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

we were the first guests to this amazing new rental property
My wife and I just returned from our 3 day (too short) weekend trip to Carpenteria. This unit just came onto the market and we were the first guests there. All in all it was a great weekend. Ted and MaryAnn were the best hosts ever. They live in the main house and the unit attached is a one bedroom one bath guest house. Ted has remodeled it himself and did a wonderful job. Seems like a new house, totally remodeled. It has everything you could want in it and they were great. The yard is nice and everything is new and the place was sparkling clean. My wife and I are picky where we stay and this place was fantastic. We got along so well with Ted and MaryAnn that we had dinner with them twice. They know the area really well and what to do and where to go eat. We couldn't have had a better weekend. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended. Todd & Gloria

Great Little Hideaway
September – 2014 My wife and I are retired, been traveling for some time now. BUT, this is the first time we decided to rent a house instead of staying in hotels. We hit the jack pot, this home is excellent! We were not sure what to bring so we made an excel spreadsheet with everything we thought we would need, packed everything in a box and Oh my, we surprised, we never unpacked the box. Ted and Mary Ann had everything you could want for a month stay. This house is perfect; we often say that we cannot wait to get back to our own beds, but not this time, we would like to express special attention to the bed that was very comfortable. The house was emaculate cleaned, better than any four star hotel that we have stayed at in the past. We are from Scottsdale, Arizona and what a treat for our Beagle who had never experienced a large grass yard. Molly enjoyed her stay and her time spent with her new friend Stella. We would recommend this house to any family or friends. We enjoyed the close access to the train and took a day to go into Los Angeles to spend the day at the Endeavor Space Shuttle. beautiful place and lawn
we loved the place, and our dogs loved more. they played with neighbors chicken, and ran around the spacious lawn all afternoon. not many vacation rental has ca king size bed, this one has! it is a plus! the only negative for the location is it is near freeway. but once we get inside the house, the freeway noise disappeared.

Delightful!
This was truly such a wonderful, quiet and charming home. You can tell that the owners take a lot pride in their property. All of the extra little provisions made us feel right at home! We've been to many vrbo's with far less being offered and those were fine too but this one just had a few extras that made being away from home easy and special. I didn't think it was going to be as Quiet as it was either. Once I saw it was near the freeway I had some doubts, but it really was and stayed quiet the whole time. So while other family members stayed at hotels in Santa B. for our reunion, we felt way more spoiled in our custom home vrbo, only 15 min away from SB, 5 min from beach etc for roughly the same price: ) thanks again Ted and Mary Anne!

Beautiful Stay Five Minutes from the Beach
This large one bedroom apartment is in a serene gated complex with a huge green lawn. It is five minutes from both Carpinteria and Summerland. A few more minutes will take you to Montecito and then Santa Barbara. Hosts were available whenever needed by phone. Beds were very comfortable. A perfect stay.

Spotless, comfy, good location
Just what we needed for a weekend working in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. Very convenient to both places. On the quiet side of Hwy 101 Attractive, well equipped, clean & comfy. A lovely property. Great restaurant recommendations from the owner. Would definitely stay again.

OK but not great
This property was clean and as advertised but a little worn and impersonal. the owners met me at their door since they live on the property but both seemed detached and were not welcoming, though civil. I stayed for four days and never saw them again, nor did either one inquire whether I was happy or volunteer any information. I have been a VRBO owner for five years and would never welcome a guest like this. They made me feel like a customer or a trespasser. The location, right next to a freeway, is very noisy for someone used to peace and quiet. I should have anticipated that. My dogs were not really welcome. Neither owner acknowledged them and implied that they were not interested in my "family" though the dogs are very friendly.

Impressive Mediterranean-Style House
Very nice property hidden away in Carpinteria. Totally enclosed with locked gate for privacy, yet still reasonably open for some nice nights outside. Carpinteria and Santa Barbara are not that far away.

Big, Private and Friendly
This was our first VRBO as a family and the experience was fantastic. The house was perfect for our family of four with lots of space to spread out. Our children (ages 8 and 3) enjoyed the beautiful lawn right and futon set-up in the living room. Ted and Mary Anne's hospitality and care for the house was appreciated. The kitchen was full of everything you would need to live there full-time and there were plenty of clean towels, linens and extra bedding. We will definitely return here for our next getaway to the beach.

Great location. Had everything we needed.
We stayed here in June with our lab mix. We chose this place because of the pet friendly (large) yard and the convenient location. We got more than we expected. The place was well equipped, private entrance, and very clean. The best part was that it was conveniently located with the 101 right there. The owners came to greet us when we arrived and let us know about some places to visit that a typical tourist would not know about, including a nice hiking trail close to where we were staying and could let our dog run free. We were very happy with the place and hope to return. The only suggestion would be to use the Church as a reference when describing how to get there, instead of the Cypress tree which we didn't see too well so late at night. The turn onto the road is very narrow and not well lit but that is also what made it so great because it was very private. Thank you again!!!

Wonderful Weekend
We just returned from a lovely extended weekend. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well-stocked. The lot is large so we didn't feel closed in close proximity of neighboring homes, and we loved the location between SB and Carp. The view of the mountains from the back yard was also enchanting. One can hear some road noise, but it didn't bother me. I'd only suggest more lighting for the family room, and listing the home for a maximum of 4 people (not 5) as family room sleepers are limited to fold-out futons and sharing the use of a single bathroom. We were only 3, and can't imagine 2 more unless they are very small children.

Clean, comfortable VRBO with a great yard that was a hit with our border collie puppy!
This VRBO was very comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. It had all the necessities, and a few extra goodies that made our stay very comfortable and relaxing, such as a washer/dryer. It was our first time traveling with our puppy, and we loved the backyard so we could run and tucker her out off-leash! The backyard was easy-access from the unit, which made late night potty-breaks easier for us. The owners were great, and accommodating. They provided needed information about the unit and fresh fruit off their trees, but gave us our space. The unit is close to the freeway, but we were not bothered by the noise. The house has both AC and heat. Our 5 1/2 year old loved the big-screen tv (a special treat, as he's on vacation too!). The unit felt safe and secure with a private gate and keypad locks for the doors. It was about 15-20 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. The yard was well-watered in the morning, so bring a pair of waterproof shoes (or an extra pair) when running around with your dog! Also, my wife felt some of the sheets were a little strongly perfumed for her liking, but she was able to rinse and dry a set in the washer/dryer in the unit.

Clean and quiet.
The unit was what we expected; clean and quiet. The outdoor seating could be better and the fact the BBQ was charcoal (not gas) caused us to not use it. Also some of the chairs around the outside table had bird droppings so we didn't use that either. If you are just looking for a place to bed down this works well. As I stated earlier, the unit itself was very clean and quiet.
