The Space:
Head out for Carmel Valley’s “Horizon,” and find yourself in a sumptuous world of magnificent color! The mountain vistas at this aptly named estate make for a stunning backdrop, before which immaculate gardens spring up in a dramatic show of pinks, deep reds, lavenders, and greens on all sides of the home. Free your mind from any preconceptions of what “at-home garden” typically means; this one is out of your wildest fantasy. Amid the pastels of sunset, walk through lanes of honey-colored roses, drawing in their sweet fragrance as you listen to the soft flow of a wall fountain.
Spend your evenings around a gas fire pit, laughing with your loved ones and enjoying a delicious meal off the grill. The single-level home opens onto the back patio and gardens through multiple access points. So, after you’ve finished dining, pass back through a bougainvillea tunnel and French doors into the heart of the home: an exquisite, open concept kitchen with creamy granite countertops, warm wood cabinetry, and a Viking double oven with a six-burner range.
A high vaulted ceiling runs uninterrupted from the kitchen into the adjacent living room, where it meets the top of a towering rock fireplace at the far end of the space. Framed on either side by pristine, square-paned wood windows looking onto Japanese Maples, the fireplace beckons you to find your spot in one of the comfy sofas or lounge chairs that encircle it. Pick up a favorite book on the way, and settle in for an evening of utter relaxation and serenity.
From the travertine flooring in the bedrooms to the oval-tipped, lustrous wooden closet doors, every finish in this home shines in the highest quality – every detail is of distinguished substance. The design is an intriguing combination of Mediterranean and adobe styles. The main part of the house, comprising the kitchen, living room, and two of the three bedrooms, sports a red terracotta roof and a warm, neutral interior color palette.
Up on a hilltop just minutes from Carmel Valley Village, this home is a symphony of color and life. If you’re longing to be swept away into another world of rarefied whimsy and private beauty, look to the horizon: Carmel Valley’s “Horizon” is waiting for you.
