Verblijf met kleine kinderen
Mooi en schoon huis met alle benodigdheden. Vriendelijke gastvrouw.

Merci encore

Beautiful house
This is a beautiful house with exceptionally nice, clean, and modern bathrooms and kitchen. My 7 year old daughter loved the pool! The outdoor furniture is fantastic and there are small pears all over the place from the pear tree in the back yard...very beautiful. The owner was reliable and friendly in all our online dealings, and once we were there we were taken care of by a lady names Jane. The vrbo profile/pictures are an accurate depiction of the house, although it should be corrected to reflect that there is no AC. This wasn’t a problem for us as the stone walls of the house kept it relatively cool at night even in mid-July, although the 2 bedrooms on the 3rd level needed the fans we were provided more than the others did. There are many beautiful towns nearby that have market days, but make sure to adjust to French time, as they tend to close around noon or 1pm. We loved the quaintness of this village. It has a small bar and a small bakery a 2-3 mins walk away. We’d go there in the morning right as the pain au chocolat had just come out of the oven! We would definitely come back as this house is beautiful and comfortable and this part of France is gorgeous and so rich in history. Thanks Alma!

A Beautiful French Escape
We had a wonderful time at Tournesol, providing a complete recharge, which was helped along by the surrounding views, countryside, village and not to mention the local wine, village markets and many historical sites. The house was so inviting, with large rooms, modern-french decor and fantastic baths, together with a great outdoor eating and pool area - just wonderful on warm, star covered evenings. We look forward to returning one day!!

The perfect honeymoon venue
This is our second stay in this wonderful house . We loved it so much after our first stay that we choose to honeymoon here. The house itself is what dreams are made off - we choose the big bedroom with free standing bath to stay in and was idyllic. We stayed for a week and used the house as abase to easily travel to many of the nearby towns eg carcasonne , mirepoix, trebes , la lac etc : we also drove over to Barcelona for the day and visited Cadaques on the way back the following day - both amazing places and within easy distance. The property itself is very well equipped . The swimming pool is a must in the scorching heat and allowed for several lazy days sunbathing , eating and drinking in peaceful surroundings . The local boulongerie sells amazing products and Henris bar is a must visit. The welcome was fabulous and ambience amazing . A real experience of life in France . Numerous restaurants are within a short car drive and the food is exquisite - the seafood restaurant at the canal midi was fantastic as was the food at chateau de pennautier . Both highly recommended. We are planning our next visit and considering staying here as part of a ski holiday as Andorra is approx an hour away . Quite simply we love it and would highly recommend it .

We had a wonderful holiday in this beautifully converted property, The adults enjoyed the very well equipped kitchen and attention to design detail. The children loved the swimming pool and the nearby lakes. The village is pretty and the entire stay was fun and relaxing. Strongly recommended for family groups.

A beautiful home in an idyllic setting
Having spent a week in this beautifuly restored 400 year old home I can highly recommend a stay here! The owners have done themselves proud with the standard of the home. All the mod cons and finished to a high standard (and I'm a builder!) but without loosing the classic French style. My partner was amazed at the roll top bath in one of the bedrooms, and the oak beams and star case look even better in the flesh. The local people are so welcoming and the 5 minute walk down the road to the bakery to buy fresh croissants was something to look for ward to each morning! The local bar (enri's) is classically French and filled with cameras! The prices are unbelievablly cheap too! I could go on but all in all one of the best holidays away we have had in along time! A must for anyone wanting to see the south of France as it should be seen!

A beautiful experience of the real France
We thoroughly enjoyed two weeks in carlipa, our party consisted of 7 adults and 3 boisterous children. The beautiful house easily accomadate us all, and the children made full use of the swimming pool. The location is excellently located for touring the lovely countryside. The Resteraunt on the midi canal was a favourite, as were the local markets. Buying fresh food and enjoying a evening meal in the farmhouse , kids in the pool, was delightful. The unique henri's bar 110 metres away is a real experience with its large collection of all types of cameras. We were well looked after by the local agent ( a Brit) who checked the pool and any assistance we needed. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, lovely old house beautifully restored , highly recommended.

Beautiful house, wonderful location
We stayed at Tournesol for 3 weeks and had a terrific time. The house is lovely, spacious and well-equipped and Carlipa is a quiet village with friendly neighbours. There are lots of interesting places to see in the area, the highlights probably being Mirepoix, Carcassonne and the Abbeye de Villelongue which is quirky, peaceful and enchanting. The pool was enjoyed by lots of people and the outside sitting area was a delight - many a happy evening was spent with good food, wine and heat! There are some super walks in the area and it was a great way to burn off a few calories after supper. You definitely need a car but travelling on French roads is such a pleasure after the scrum of English ones that driving isn't a chore. The boulangerie produces some delicious croissants and bread and the little bar is definitely worth a visit or two. I do hope you enjoy the place as much as we did.

Our Stay at Tournesol
We (long term female friends) arrived at Tournesol on the 29th of August for a 2 week stay. The farmhouse was exactly as we had imagined. The location was unique....nestled in the town of Carlipa, population 300. We were able to walk down the street to the Boulangerie in the morning, to get our croissants and bread. On some evenings, we visited the "Cafe"/ bar which opened from 6-9pm. This was owned by Henri and his wife...very quaint little bar with WI-FI. To our delight, they also had the most wonderful dog called, Eclaire, who would greet us at the door of the cafe/bar. Our days were full. Using Tournesol as our home base, we set out daily visiting the many wonderful towns, restaurants and markets....such as Mirepois, Collioure(Spain border), the Medieval town of Carcassonne, Limoux, Bram, Pennautier and many more. We were able to find lovely, small, outside restaurants on the Canals or in the towns, that were delightful. The wine is so inexpensive and wonderful. We ventured out a few evenings for dinner. One memorable evening was to a vineyard called Domaine Gayda. It was delightful in all respects..location, view of the vineyards and the food .....It was delicious. We found that most evenings we spent in the well equipped, large, warm kitchen at Tournesol, whipping up delicious gourmet meals and enjoying the ambiance of the kitchen and the patio. The rest of the house was equally as beautiful. The bedrooms were large and well appointed. The owners of Tournesol were attentive and answered all questions quickly before and after our trip. This is a "home away from home" for anyone planning a trip to this part of France. It was certainly for all of us, a trip to remember. A large part of the success, we can, attribute to our stay in Carlipa at Tournesol. Pat, Carol, Anne.& Maureen.

A beautifully restored old farmhouse.
Our first impressions on arriving at Tournesol were fantastic and we were even more impressed when inside. The whole building has been restored to a very high standard making for a comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing holiday 'home from home'. We found the whole experience lacking for nothing and with great support from the people looking after the property, we couldn't have wished for more. Spotlessly clean, beautifully presented with more than ample clean towels on hand throughout (and we are a big family). We loved the location too being nice a rural spot but within easy striking distance for places to go with the kids if needed. Our evenings were spent relaxing outside, glasses of wine, kids in the pool … heaven. An early morning 2 minute walk to the boulangerie for fresh croissants (and a supermarket only a 10 minute drive away through beautiful countryside) also makes for stress free stay especially with kids. In short, we would certainly recommend Tournesol as an idyllic location for your holiday whether you are looking for a comfortable place to stay and relax or to use as a base to explore the area and come 'home' to at the end of your day.

Inviting, beautiful and a place to make memories!
Tournesol will allow you to turn toward the sun (even if it rains)! We had eight people staying and all were extremely comfortable. We experienced the little village of Carlipa daily and some of it's locals, which welcomed us warmly. We went to a few of the markets and experienced their locals tastes, which we absolutely miss today! Our experience in Tournesol was wonderful. We used each room to its fullest, but the main room, while inside was the kitchen. It was a gathering place for dinners and experience. The location is wonderful, as it is close enough to experience so many of things, the sea, the small villages throughout the area, local wineries, castles, and the local markets. The only thing we had a problem with is our heads would bump the beams in the upper rooms and stairway...by the end of the week our bruised heads remembered to duck. Lovely experience and we are grateful for the experience. You cannot go wrong selecting Tournesol. PS: The rooster next door kept us on track each morning!

Tournesol - Home away from Home!
We absolutely LOVED ‘Tournesol,’ our home away from home! Some of the amenities - large comfortable bedrooms; 2 roomy baths & 1/2 bath; a modern kitchen with stone hearth, the heart of the home & meeting area for our family of eight; a cozy living room; & a lovely sitting area & pool in the courtyard. Sharon (the landlord's rep) met us when arrived. She was able to give us early access - much appreciated after a long trip. Sharon was most helpful in getting us settled & oriented. The town is charming! The local cafe, every inch of the interior covered with antique cameras, is a short stroll down the cobbled street. It afforded an opportunity to mix with the locals, none more memorable than Henri, the proprietor and his dog, Éclair, the town mascot. Henri also has a collection of antique postcards from the area which he generously shared with us making copies of a few of our favorites. We frequently took advantage of the local boulangerie picking up baguettes almost daily & pastries when struck by a craving for a sweet. The chicken coop next door had a rooster or two, hens & lots of fluffy chicks! Some of the sights we recommend in the area: Hautpoul - a medieval Cathar town in the Black Mountains centered around a battlement. No tourists (other than us), great views, & a cafe of respite carved from the stone near the top. Over the bar in the dining room, they had decorated with antique sabots (wooden shoes with a metal plate on the bottom). Albi - Cathedral of St Cecile & the Toulouse Lautrec museum. Chateau Pennautier – For wine tasting & a fabulous meal! Abbaye Villalongue – An early Cistercian abbaye, wonderfully preserved with beautiful gardens. The market at Castelnaudary, after which we prepared a meal of assorted saucisson, olives, spreads, stuffed squash blossoms, roasted pork, carrots, artichoke hearts & fresh asparagus both white & green, that we purchased from the farm. (It was an asparagus farm & we got to observe the loading, washing & packaging!) A trip to the Mediterranean outside of Narbonne – even though the weather was not very cooperative we had an afternoon with a few hours of sunlight & we soaked our feet in the sea. Carcassonne – How could we be in this area of France & NOT visit Carcassonne! We have wonderful memories visiting Aude & staying in our beautiful home away from home! We highly recommend this charming home!

Home from Home: Visiting From The US
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tornesol! We had spent 3 days in Barcelona prior to the week at Tournesol and then we went back to Barcelona for another 4 days. We vacation with another couple and try to have a week in a city plus a week in the country. The week in Tournesol was definitely a week in the country and was everything we could have hoped for. The house is beautiful and well equipped and the location was central to the places we had hoped to visit. I am afraid that we old goats don't have too many more years of driving in an unfamiliar vehicle in an unknown place. Thank goodness for GPS! I think that we hit most of the popular places plus several a little further off the beaten path. We certainly came away with a better picture of a more rural, less touristy France. We would heartily recommend both the location and Tournesol to anyone who was looking for a similar experience. So much for the good, now on to the bad (nothing to do with the owners): One other thing that the four of us share is a desire not to prepare meals other than cereal for breakfast. We found it almost impossible to predict where we would be at dinner time and therefore impossible to book ahead and we finally realized that any town that was not "touristy" , would not easily serve a good, varied meal. Thus, be prepared and read the information/ recommendations supplied by the owners, especially if you holiday out of the high season, so you are sure to be fed and not have to eat pizza.

What a fabulous place
Having taken our time to drive down to Carlipa camping for two nights on route we arrived to a lovely welcome and sheer delight to discover this beautiful home offering excellent accommodation to the highest standard, everything we could possible wish for to make a perfect holiday, we loved the quiet village, a haven in the height of summer when the coastal region of France is so busy. We were not blessed with good weather but grandchildren, grandparents and parents having endured lots of rain appreciated the space and facilities of this lovely home even swimming in the pool in the rain knowing we could have wonderful hot showers! We would love to return one day but in the meantime if you are thinking of going to this area we would really recommend this property. We all had a lovely holiday, and the sun did come out before it was time to leave!!

Perfect Southern France Getaway
We were looking for a relaxing getaway with some friends and we certainly got it! As soon as we set foot in Carlipa and saw the stunning house, we knew we were going to experience the real, rural Southern France. The house has a true 'home from home' feeling. It has been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard and has everything that you would wish for, as well as capturing those finer details such as tea, coffee and French red wine on arrival! With 6 adults and 3 children, we were concerned that there may not be enough space, but all the rooms are so spacious and it was really comfortable. Each of the rooms are decorated to capture the French style and feeling-it was a joy waking up every morning! Added extras such as games for the children, bikes to explore the surrounding area and the inclusion of the pool meant that we were never bored when staying in the house. Plus the BBQ and outdoor seating area meant that we could really make the most of the al fresco dining. A short walk from the house and you will find fields with beautiful sunflowers and amazing views! There's also a bakery for your essentials and Henri's bar-a place for the locals to relax and where you can practice your French! The owners recommended that we were to hire a car. This enabled us to experience all the truly gorgeous places surrounding us-Carcassone old town with it's medieval castle and a breathtaking view when you first cast your eyes on it, Carcassone new town with it's bustling market, narrow cobbled streets and beautiful shops to explore, Limoux with it's amazing Canal du Midi views, Pennautier with it's charming stately home and gorgeous restaurant plus wine tasting at a small French house! If you're looking for a slice of real French rural life, yet want to ensure that you have all the comforts of home then this is the place that you have to visit!

The real France
What a wonderful holiday. An easy drive from the airport and what a delight when we arrived to find that the property was even nicer than the pictures suggested .. not often this happens ! A beautiful house - truly beautiful, in a gorgeous location. It has been renovated to an extremely high standard ... is extremely well equipped and very luxurious, very spacious and airy with more than plenty of room for me and my family... the only dilemma - which gorgeous room to have ... a very hard choice... all equally beautiful. We chose the fantastic room with the bath in it ... what a treat - bathing whilst looking up at the stars through the roof windows... very romantic! And then to wake everyone up in the morning a wonderful shower in the wet room. The children couldn't resist sharing in what could only be described as a bedroom bigger than some apartments... with its own sofa and mini snooker table. The house was spotlessly clean and very well maintained .. all bedding and towels was fresh and clean and the outside area was an extension of hte house in so much as it was spotless too. Having hired a car, we enjoyed exploring some of the local area, suggestions made by the owners .. this attention to detail was very helpful allowing us to confidently explore whilst finding our own way round. Meal time - again a delight to be able to cook in such a wonderful kitchen - very conducive to cooking and chatting as everyone gathered round the large table ... then retired to the ample outside seating to complete a relaxing evening, sharing good food, chats and family games. A truly lovely place - cant wait to go back.. I would definitely recommend to anyone...thank you

Simply Divine!
I stayed at this beautifully renovated house in April 2011 - The first suprise was the fantastic weather ! However this was nothing compaired to the stunning house and surroundings. Set in the most picturesque of settings the house is perfectly located for those wanting to relax in style - Look right you could see the snow capped mountains of the Pyrenees - look left and you see beautiful vineyards and miles and miles of beautiful and unsuspecting lakes and rivers - The house itself catered for everything i could want - the pictures on the website whilst lovely do not do it justice when you actually see it for yourself. Simply gorgeous ! A fantastic pool and decked exterior allowed for great fun and shared time with my friends. The interior gave me the kitchen ive always wished for - big and open with a large dining table- some fun meals were had here ! My bedroom was very spacious and allowed for a very luxurious and relaxed feel -coupled with an excellent shower that blew of the early morning cobwebs setting me up to enjoy the day ahead ! Near by towns and villages allowed for great daily excursions - the market in Brahm a must for foodies ! - The salamis - YUM!!! The lakes were also a special memory for me - a must see to believe - my words could not do it justice - not to mention the delightful dog that adopted us rescuing our ball which was kicked a bit too enthusiastically into the middle of the lake ! Mirepoix is lovely and quaint and again worth a visit. All in all a wonderful week that allowed me to relax in luxury and take in the real France - thank you !

Family holiday at Tournesal, Carlipa
Spent a very enjoyable and chilled week in Tournesal, mixing sightseeing trips (Carcassonne, Rennes-le-chateau, Peyrepertuse) with relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Recommend a wine tasting at the local vinyard, very friendly and nice wine. The house has been beautifully renovated and fixtures and furniture are of high quality making for a very comfortable stay. The house was extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean. Bedrooms (comfy beds)and bathrooms had the feeling of a luxury country house hotel. Having the large children's room (1 double and two single beds) was great as it avoided the usual arguments about who got to share. Provision of games and DVDs went down well with the children who also enjoyed swimming in the new above ground pool. The adults found the decking and gazebo to be a perfect shady spot for reading, and enjoying the odd glass of wine. Made use of the bicycles to explore the surrounding area and the surrounding tracks were good for running both short and longer distances. The owners and local representatives were all helpful, friendly and lovely to deal with.

A perfect place to stay!
Looking for comfort with all the style you expect in a French country farmhouse then look no more! The owners have totally renovated this village farmhouse to a very high quality, with no expense spared. With four spacious bedrooms, luxurious bathrooms and a modern kitchen they have left no stone unturned - literally! There is a great patio outside with a pool, sundeck and BBQ - as a party of 9 we never felt cramped - if you are looking for a place to relax yet close enough for a spin to the beaches or mountains this is it!

Tournesol - a stunningly converted farmhouse
This house is absolutely beautiful. I could tell that every little detail had been considered during the fabulous renovation work. You can just tell the place has been restored with love. The house has a very homely feel. It is incredibly spacious, with 4 huge bedrooms that are each filled with charactor and warmth. The bathrooms are also gorgeous and the living room and kitchen certainly provide a great area for everyone to come together - although the ample space means we never felt as if it was too crowded. Outside, the decked area is just devine. The space has been cleverly designed so that the large courtyard is a lovely peaceful place to bathe in the sun, swim and relax. The views and the surroundings truly are out of this world - they must be seen to be believed! The quaint little village, the nearby fields, lakes, vinyards and animals made this a very special holiday for us. There is also a wealth of amazing day trips and activities only a short distance away and these really do cater for all hobbies and tastes. The historical sights and caves close to the house are well worth a visit, and horse riding is a must!! And, if you have time to go for a drive and explore you never know what you'll find - the place seems to be full of little hidden gems! As for restaurants, we did not have a single disappointing meal - the choice on offer is sure to satisfy anyone, so whether you decide to relax at the house with a BBQ or go out for a meal, you won't be disappointed. We had a simply wonderful holiday and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The area is beautiful, and this stunning house made our holiday really superb.

Tournesol
Having spent most of our French family holidays enjoying the west coast of Southern France, our friends persuaded us to try the Mediterranean coast for a change. Carlipa is a small friendly village a short drive from Carcasonne. Away from the busy roads of the city the village provides a beautiful and relaxed setting for this superb house. Surrounded by fields of grape vines and sunflowers the village is pocketed into beautiful countryside with easy walks around it and easy road access to local shops and neighbouring towns and villages. Even in October the autumnal colours were simply fantastic. Tournesol, a former farmhouse, has been renovated with true respect for its traditional design. Providing luxury living in an idilic setting the house boasts spacious bedrooms and magnicent bathrooms to accommodate either extended family or groups of friends. The informal kitchen/dining room, relaxing sitting room area and external courtyard provide perfect locations for evening dining and general chiling. The house is extremely well equipped and was immaculate upon arrival. Daytrips to historical towns, local lakes, mountain villages and French/Spanish beaches makes this house one that we will definitely be returning to in the near future and have recommended to family and friends alike. There is such a richness of activities within a days drive from the property that it is well worth researching the area before you arrive to make best use of your stay. The house however is big enough and comfortable enough to set roots and enjoy the peace and quiet too.

Tranquil, relaxing, stunning
My family and I were looking for a true family holiday - away from the hustle and bustle, glitz and glamour of large megatrendy resorts - and for a short break from visiting family and friends on our annual trip from Aus to UK. We found everything that we were told about the area and the farmhouse to be true and more. The farmhouse was really stunning, we felt so spoilt for the entire week. The standard was very high. We had everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday. We were central enough to enjoy the surrounding attractions and the local restaurants gave an excellent alternative to cooking. I cannot recommend this place more highly and will be definately returning the next time we are over in Europe. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and can't wait to go back the next time we are visiting family in England. Fantastic a+++++
