At the foot of the medieval city of Carcassonne, built in 1692, our house with its garden and Jacuzzi was originally built in 1692. We have restored it while preserving its authenticity, with its French-style ceiling, stone walls and wine vat, but you will of course find all the modern comforts! On the ground floor of the main house are the garage, the utility rooms (the central heating boiler room and the laundry room): the entrance hall with a staircase leading to the living rooms. On the first floor: a separate kitchen (renovated in 2020), a dining room and a large lounge (57 m²) and 1 separate toilet. The kitchen opens onto a terrace from which you can admire the Cité while having breakfast. On the second floor: two bedrooms with 160 x 200 beds; one bedroom with a 140 x 190 bed; 1 shower room and 1 bathroom with bath and shower and 1 separate WC. From the terrace in front of the kitchen, a staircase will take you down to a 100 m² garden at the foot of the Tour Carrée de l'Évêque, where a small garden lounge awaits you to relax... At the end of the garden, the "Petit Chai": the door opens onto a living room with an open-plan fitted kitchen, a television allowing you to watch videos (a collection is available), Wifi Internet connection and a sofa bed (140x190).
Access to the first floor via a wooden staircase, where there is a bedroom with a 140x190 bed, a 90x180 bed and a shower room with WC. Each room is equipped with independent electric radiators. In front of this "outbuilding" is a terrace with a large table and an electric griddle for grilling fish, meat and vegetables, drizzled with olive oil for typically Mediterranean dinners! The house faces east/west, so you can enjoy the sun all day long. Inside, although the house is cool, you'll find fans in every room to cool you down if you wish. On-site garage for 1 car (to be reversed in) and 1 parking space 5 minutes' walk away (with an access card at your disposal, included in the July-August rental). Numerous places of interest nearby: Canal du midi, Cathar castles, Abbeys, lakes, wine route, the beach 50 minutes away... Many attractions and guided tours are available in and around the Cité and in Carcassonne, the Festival de la Cité takes place in July with a very varied programme that you can find on the dedicated website. https://11.agendaculturel.fr/ On 14 July, the Cité is set ablaze with one of the most majestic fireworks displays in France! You'll be in the best seat in the house! And you'll have unforgettable memories! We're just 15 minutes (by car) from the Lac de la Cavayère, for some great swimming and child-friendly games...
On the Canal du Midi, there are some great boat trips to discover the region along the water. The discovery of the giant chasm at Cabrespine (40 mins by car) will remain an impressive memory. And also: Numerous wine-growing and wine-tasting excursions to discover the terroirs of our region.
