My sister and I stayed at Harpers House for 4 nights during our 2 weeks in South Africa. We had a top floor room and have no complaints about the room. it was spacious and had everything we needed. As others wrote, it can be a bit noisy (doors shut loudly and floors can be creaky), but there are only a handful of rooms, so it more or less is first thing in the morning and not super late at night.
Breakfast was lovely and you have a choice of being outside or inside. We took advantage of the nice weather and had a bottle of wine outside at night, one evening. The location was good for us and we took advantage of the grocery store next store.
We ubered everywhere, and didn't stick around the area we were in, since we had plans for our entire 4 days, but I definitely felt safe and the security of getting in and out of the property, was good.
We also asked HH to help is with a Driver to pick us up from the airport, as well as to recommend a half day tour guide for Boulders beach and they set us up with great drivers/tour guides. We also took advantage of their sister property, Gorgeous George, for dinner and drinks our first night. That was very fun.
We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. My only con, which I shared with the hotel, is they had a candle wax burning on the first floor that was SO STRONG that was bothersome.
You won't regret staying at this small boutique hotel.
