We just got home from our trip to Kolin Hotel & Spa. I’ll preface my review saying all-in-all it wasn’t a bad stay. However I have some grievances for a supposed 5 star hotel. Although our room was a newer bosphorus suite we were quite uncomfortable our entire stay. The sofa, chairs, and even bed aren’t anything near the quality you’d expect from a 5 star resort. That’s when it occurred to us, Kolin hotel owners probably designated it 5 stars themselves.
Upon entering our room we were hit with an insanely hot room. The thermostats were reading 28.5 degrees in one room and close to 29 in the main sleeping room. I instantly went to turn on the so called AC. I waited about 5-10 minutes and noticed it was now about 30 degrees in the room. I kept turning on the AC and turning it back on lowering the temperature and upping the fan speed. Only to climb up on a chair to feel the air ducts blowing out warm air. At this point I had to turn off the AC and open the windows and smell the nasty cigarette smoke. I phoned the reception two times and asked if we could get a tower fan or have someone check the AC. We kept getting the run around that they had to check with a manager to check the AC. In any case, nothing was done and we were pretty hot the whole stay.
Breakfast was also just basic and ok, nothing special. I likely wouldn’t stay here again and would probably stay at the Hilton up the street next time.
