About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

New, Artisan Style, Cozy, Secluded, 2-BR, Sauna, Hot Tub, Wi-Fi

This unique, artisan crafted small, 2-BR, 1.5-BA quaint cabin offers a 4-person hot tub, sauna, fiber optic Wi-Fi, and large flat screen TV for DVD's and gaming. The kitchen is fully equipped with standard kitchenware and appliances. This small, secluded cabin features large picture frame windows throughout bringing in lots of natural light while showcasing the beautiful forested backdrop. Outside is a park style charcoal grill, wrap around covered deck with plush outdoor lounge furniture and dining table. A fire pit sits adjacent to the porch and grill area to take in the night sky and toast s'mores. Can sleep 4, but up to 5 with the use of the couch day bed. Located at the dead end of the neighborhood road in a heavily forested setting, Black Bear Cabin offers privacy and quiet with no nearby neighboring cabins visible for a truly authentic experience. Near Campton KY, home to The Daniel Boone National Forest, hiking trails and Red River Gorge North area. Two bedrooms sit on the top floor, one private and the 2nd partially open loft. Each with a queen bed in each. The beautiful stairs leading up to the bedrooms are custom hand crafted by a local artisan. It blurs the line between stairs and a ladder, giving the cabin a tree house feel. There is a half bath on the upper level and full bathroom on the lower level with a nice tile shower and extra heat provided by a wall heater to make the space extra toasty. There are so many unique details built into this cabin to enjoy. If your seeking a quaint peaceful Cabin with a Spa-like experience to pamper yourself and get away from it all, look no further than Black Bear Cabin!

We recommend checking-in BEFORE DARK if staying for the 1st time. Past guests have mentioned that it can be difficult to locate after dark as there are no street lights nearby. The direction sheet provided works well and we have found is more reliable than GPS as signals drop in this area. That said a good navigator might make the initial drive in as smooth as warm honey.

4-wheel or all-wheel drive is highly recommended for the moderately steep grade and terrain of the gravel road.

All utilities are on reliable city connections.
Though the name might suggest, no Black Bear sightings have been reported at this cabin aside from the decor.

Some noise from the road can be heard at times, but is not near it or visible and is not busy (not like 715 or rt. 11) and most guests do not find it distracting to the zen.
This cabin has non standard steps to the bedrooms. It is more of a hand made sturdy beautiful ladder. It is not recommended for people with mobility issues or young children. Agility and ability to climb ladders is an absolute must to enjoy the full potential of this cabin.

Peaceful
The cabin is about .5 mile up the mountain. It was the last one on the drive. It was nice and secluded. Only minor things with the cabin. Some of the faucets were not set up correctly and a good cleaning to get the cobwebs down would be beneficial. Aside from that it was a perfect get a way

The sauna was not working while we were there, however, that wasn’t a problem for us! We had and amazing time and got to do some good hiking. The place is on a rough gravel road. We almost brought my partners Covid, but drove down in my Subaru. Recommend driving a car that is a little higher off the ground

We had a good time and enjoyed the hot tub and our stay. Read the description of the property and cabin you will get a work out. Our communication with the property manager was good. Check in was no problem and at check out we forgot something at the cabin the lady had no problem letting us return to cabin. Thank you.

Be aware
While this is a cabin in the woods i did not expect the mouse droppings in the kitchen cabinets, poor/barely working water in bathroom and kitchen (the shower amd other bathroom worked fine). The mice were very active at night chewing and running and it was very difficult to relax or sleep. The hot tub was facing a road and while the cabin was fairly private i did not feel the hot tub location was. After all of this VRBO stated they wanted photos (and presumably video of scratching/chewing mice) to remedy the problem. Just be aware that you may not be booking the relaxing trip you hope for if you stay here!

Yes, the stairs are steep but the ad says they are so complaining after your stay makes no sense. The stairs were no big deal. Overall the cabin was quiet and kind of old-fashioned. We enjoyed our stay.

What you would expect based on pics
The cabin is pretty much what you would expect based on pics. Nothing over the top nice, for sure. While, at the same time, nothing too alarming. Even though they told us to bring our own towels AFTER we booked they did have towels there for toddler sized people…lol Main recommendation is check in process. We are in an era that we should not longer have to drive to a location 10 minutes away to get a key and then drive to return key. Put a keypad on door. Location was good and very private. Stairs / ladder are extremely steep and both beds are upstairs so there is no avoiding the climb- just FYI. Definitely not kid friendly.
