Bringing family together to enjoy the summer in the UP. Pam was a great host and Jess an excellent chef. Appreciated the home cooked breakfasts and comfortable accommodations as we explored the Keewenaw. Prime location to Calumets historic downtown and plenty of room to relax and unwind.
Everything about this place was first class. The owner was unbelievably friendly and we loved interacting with her. The breakfast both days were amazing. We are planning our next getaway already.
We enjoyed our stay at this very spacious B&B. The 4 bedrooms, bathrooms and living room areas were perfect for our group of 7 adults. The outdoor area was spacious and updated!
There was a very good variety of breakfast options.
Pamela was very prompt and responsive for any questions we had.
Copper jewel
Copper Jewel is a real jewel in Calumet. Excellent accommodations, great breakfast, lots of room, charm, and hospitality. We wish we had more time to explore the area and stay at Copper Jewel. The hostess / owner and her staff are great, friendly and very knowledgable of the history and heritage of Calumet. If you have a reason to be in the Keweenaw Peninsula, check out Copper Jewel for your stay. We really enjoyed it!
The Copper Jewel was nicely decorated making it feel homey.
This was perfect for our group of 8. There were 2 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms with an extra shower in the sauna.
Things were well stocked and Pamela was very personable along with Jess the chef.
We will be back and our guests said that they would make The Copper Jewel their selection to come back and stay in.
Thanks for all the personal touches!
Everything was wonderful! Beautiful home, wonderful innkeeper, delicious breakfast!! Wished we could have stayed longer. Pamela went above and beyond delivering items to us that we forgotten!!
This is our first time using VRBO. Pamela made everything easy for us. She responded quickly to our questions. Pamela greeted us on arrival and took us on a tour of the house. There were also snacks waiting for us. She truly tried to pamper us. Staying at the Copper Jewel was much more relaxing than having multiple hotel rooms. Our whole family could sit and visit around the table. We enjoyed taking a sauna too. The breakfast was delicious and we liked chatting with Jess, our cook. The house was quiet and comfortable. We would stay here again.
Pam is a gracious host and a wonderful cook. So enjoyable to wake up to hot coffee and a delicious breakfast. A total bonus is she is so passionate about her hometown and full of interesting history. Calumet is smaller than I envisioned but very warm and welcoming.
Our stay here really blew our minds--the home has been completely renovated and is GORGEOUS. Pamela was so gracious and thoughtful. She made us breakfast from scratch the following morning--and it was delicious! She's a delight and we'd love to stay here again. Cannot recommend this place enough.
She was so gracious and a joy to talk to. Defintely full of energy and vision. This shows throughout her maintained and beautifully decorated B&B. Also, she prepared an awesome Finnish breakfast. You won't be disappointed.
Were in the Copper Country for a wedding and stayed at the Copper Jewel B&B. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay the one night and missed using many of the features of the house such as the nice back yard where there is a cornhole setup and also the sauna in the basement. We were met by Pam who explained many things about the house and left a contact number if we needed anything. Jess prepared an outstanding breakfast the next morning for the 6 of us staying. Have stayed in many B&B's over the years and this one is one of the best. If a stay in Calumet is on your itinerary, the Copper Jewel is highly recommended.
The Copper Jewel is a wonderful property with character, charm and plenty of space. And Pam is a rockstar! We had the whole home to ourselves (3 couples) but were fortunate to have our host (Pam) prepare a bountiful breakfast each morning and entertain us with stories of Calumet and copper country - including the 100-year old Jewel (home). The sauna was a hit as was the easy access (walking) to the bars, restaurants and shops of downtown Calumet. Love this place and look forward to returning someday. Highly recommended!
We LOVED Pam's house! I traveled up north with my husband, parents, and sister for a week. Her B&B was the perfect spot for us. The house is huge, was spotless, and is filled with great books, games, and local artifacts. She made us a wonderful breakfast and gave us a lot of tips for visiting local sites. The city of Calumet was lovely. Beautiful architecture, walkable, great food, great history. Very close to the Quincy Mine (the tour was great!!), Houghton, and lots of great places in the peninsula. Calumet Waterworks beach is just 5 minutes away and was a great spot for swimming and rock collecting. We cannot wait to come back!
The property was posted on vrbo as a historic 4 bedroom home for rent. I believed I rented the home for two nights. When we arrived there were 4 other individuals and the property owner staying at the property. And I was offered one bedroom (for 3 travelers in my family) for the money I paid for the home rental. After complaining I was offered a second bedroom, but was treated as I was a liar and in the wrong, when it clearly was misrepresented by vrbo and the property owner, as I have screenshots of the listing that I reserved.

Trouble getting in to the house
We had a lot of trouble getting into the house on the first day. Could not get in before the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, so we had to do that in t-shirts and jeans. Very disappointed in that. Rest of the weekend went very well and the house was amazing.
This was the most amazing place we have stayed in. Pamela the owner went above and beyond our expectations. Starting with a warm greeting as we entered the property, the warmth and care she put in to making her home inviting and comfortable. She was knowledgeable about the local surrounding area. The breakfast she provided was delicious. She even provided a special menu for one of our party who is vegan. Another in our party had forgotten some expensive face cream. Pamela called to let us know and offered to ship it back to us. We were still in the area. She came to meet us to return the item to us. We would make a special trip to return to the area to stay again at the Copper Jewel.
First and foremost Pam, the host, is amazing! She covered all our needs and then some! The day started with a fantastic breakfast made to order. The first morning of our stay we were treated to Pannukkau, a Finish baked pancake. Outstanding! The left overs she cubed and added to the evening charcuterie board. Brilliant! The home location is a few short blocks from “main st”. There is a lot of history to be seen there! Calumet is in a great location to set out exploring the keewenaw peninsula. After a hearty breakfast pack your travel snacks and head out to Copper Harbor, tour of a copper mine, Houghton/Hancock, Porcupine Mountains or drive the coast of Lake Superior. Upon return in the evening to your home away from home, enjoy a drink on the wrap around porch or just engage in conversation with Pam who has unending stories about the town in which she grew up in.
I could not recommend this property more highly. Pam is great; the house is great; the food is great. What a nice stay, and it's not far from MTU, but also well positioned for day trips up the peninsula.
