Winter, spring, summer or fall, forget your worries & feel your stress melt away in this charming waterfront 🏡.
Wake-up to glorious sunrises, relax on one of the many outside seating areas, swim, float, fish, kayak, go boating, whale / bird watching, river rafting, nap on the hammocks, sun bath, have a beach/pit fire, golf, hike, catch a movie or summer concert, or simply enjoy the incredible water views, and the ever changing tide (25’) from the inside. There’s even a private office shed at the water’s edge with a Q sofa-bed should you need to work. You can do it all at RiverHouse.
RiverHouse is a traditional Maine farmhouse built in 1840, and sits on an acre of land on the St. Croix. It is flanked by a cove at each end with lit steps to the beach. It has been totally renovated while keeping its charm, and has amazing water views from every room. The driveway is large enough for a 🚤.
There are several seating areas and hammocks scattered throughout the property, and at night the trees are bathed in blue light & there are solar lights throughout the property-you’ll feel like you’re at a resort. There is a floating deck with sun loungers, a fire pit with free firewood, and a gravel patio with a dual pallet/gas grill and a wrought iron table. There is also a large family dining table at the water’s edge.
You can access the beach at either side of the property by lit stairs. There’s a rocky beach with an over-the-water (high-tide) deck. There are 4 adult & 3 youth kayaks and foldable sun loungers for your enjoyment.
Calais is your quintessential small American town with shops, restaurants and bars dotting Main St. It sits on the St. Croix River with 3 border crossings into Canada. There’s a movie theater, public library, boat launch, golf course, a waterfront walkway, and concerts are held during the summer at the riverfront park.
The St. Croix is saltwater and tidal, flowing into the Bay of Fundy which has the highest tides, and is full of freshwater and saltwater marine life.
RiverHouse is just 2 mins from the St Croix Country Club ⛳️, 5 mins from downtown, hiking trails, boat launch, & the Canadian border, 30 minutes from Eastport, 50 minutes from Lubec and Campobello Island (Roosevelt’s summer home) and 2 hours from Bar Harbor, Bangor and from Aroostook County. it is perfectly located for exploring unspoiled Downeast Maine, “The County” and Canada.
