5 star flat in Giza
We rented this flat for 10 weeks this past summer in Cairo. Had an amazing experience living as a local. The kitchen was perfect as we cooked all meals here. Three local markets, as well as daily farmer's market open til 1am. Easy to catch a cab. Very busy neighborhood, but flat is very quiet. A total sancturary. Great security. Stunning view of the Pyrmaids. Great desk and internet and magic jack phone to usa. I loved this place and can't wait to stay here again.

Cairo visit
Overall, my stay at this property was good. The apartment was big with two bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen stuffed with all we needed. Alaa was a great host. He helped us navigating around the city. Communication with him was easy and he responded to my calls immediately. I greatly appreciate that. However, one bathroom didn’t work well. So practically we had only one bathroom. Also, the bathroom we used smelled mold. We had to disinfect and clean the doorknobs, the switches and the remote controls. In addition, the location was not pleasant. Indeed, the picture of the building on the web was not accurate. I don’t know where that came from. No part of that building from outside looked like that! The host should add the fact that there would not be electricity and water in the apartment for an hour everyday. Even though that was government rule, still the guests need to know.

Beautiful Apartment in Cairo that is walking distance to Pyramids
My husband and I stayed five nights in this wonderful apartment. The owner is an excellent communicator and was very quick in answering and confirming our request for use of the apartment. The apartment is very clean, well-equipped, and has an amazing view of the Pyramids. It was a 25 minute walk to the Pyramids, along safe streets. We walked to the light show in the evening and always felt comfortable exploring the area which is truly fascinating. There are two local shopping centres about a five minute walk from the apartment where you can buy everything you need. You experience a different aspect of Cairo when you walk the area and shop in the local stores. We loved this experience, but of course, it is not for everyone. We found everyone we met to be friendly and very helpful and we never felt threatened or unsafe at any time, even late at night. The apartment has AC, dishwasher, washing machine and is fully equipped for cooking. There is wireless internet access and endless television channels on a huge TV. The owner's sister lives a short distance away and she is always available to help with whatever needs you have. It was a very pleasant stay for us and we highly recommend this beautiful apartment to anyone who wants to experience 'living' in Cairo. The view from the apartment window is priceless.

The most helpful hosts in the world! Perfect for travelers new to Egypt
A comfortable, spacious, safe home away from home for our group of ten ... and so much more! The U.S. based hosts introduced us to an outstanding tour operator they work with all the time, Ashraef, He and his brother arranged all our visits to historic sites and fun activities for our teenagers. Their suggestions led us to activities we would have never considered. The guide connected well with group members aged 15-65. And we paid a fraction of the price charged by other well-rated guide services. (About $150/day for guide and large van, compared with $600/day from operators who charge by the head) The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable, with a well-equipped full kitchen and two full size baths. And a view of the Giza Pyramid. The neighborhood looked (and truly is) chaotic, but proved safe at all hours and was convenient to shopping and restaurants. The owner's sister lives very close and was available to quickly step into action when we faced the usual local problems; internet breakdowns and loss of water pressure. These are unavoidable issues in one of the world's largest and most chaotic cities, and we were fortunate to have a host who knew who to call to get problems solved in hours, not days. When we had an emergency with misplaced passports on a trip to the red sea, the hosts went into the unit at our request, found the passports and had them messengered to us. In short, this apartment comes with a complete travel support system.

Fantastic! Much much nicer apartment than the photos show
From the moment I booked the apartment, Vern was a brilliant asset to making our trip to Cairo amazing. He texted all the major sights and gave great advice on the city. He hooked us up with a local tour guide - Ashraf who arranged full transportation during our stay and airport pick-up. Ashraf became like a family member and looked after us and our children as he would his own, including arranging ALL our sight-seeing and camel rides for the family where he personally held their reigns to ensure safety. He was way more family then a tour guide or even a friend! His dad (Musa) is a Professor of Egyptology and was our guide. We learnt a tremendous amount from him and almost all other guides and museum employees we came across hugged him as most of them were his students! The apartment itself is much much bigger then it looks in the photos. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Cairo was pretty cold when we were there and the heating was very fast and efficient. The location is great. I was considering staying in a 5 star in New Cairo but am so happy we spent half the money and had twice the fun in this apartment. The kids had a lot of room to run and stretch. There is a grocery store about 5 minutes walk which has everything you will need for your stay. If you ask Vern to connect you with Ashraf, you will have pretty much everything you need. I will definitely come back to Cairo as it is such an amazing city and will only stay at this apartment when I come. Thanks Vern!

Great apartment, but watch the tour guide
This apartment was the most luxurious of all the VRBO apartments that we stayed in. Four to six adults could live here easily and well. The view from the patio of the great pyramid were spectacular, and you can see the roof tops across the street with goats and chickens for a little local culture. A few glitches were handled swiftly on the first night by the manager, Sayed, and the owner, Vern, called to check and see if everything was OK. The internet is handled through a 3G card, a little slow, but it is portable. The downside was that the owner recommended the manager to handle the tours. We found the managers tours to be unprofessional. There was nothing in writing (but I had notes). There was at least one element missing from each tour, the prices increased as we went along, and there were several harassing phone calls the last night to get every last Egyptian pound I had. Remember that in Egypt, "caveat emptor" is alive and well, all the pyramids are not made of stone, and no gift is free. I recommend you check some other tours, like Viator.com or habibitours.com before making any final commitments. Overall, it was an excellent accomodation, and a good trip, with the lone exception of how the tours were handled that brought the "overall experience at the property" down a notch.

My family visit to Cairo
We were in Cairo on March 2012, and understandbly we were apprehensive due to the situation in the country. That comprehension was all but disapeared once we settled in and discovered that everything was normal and the people all over Cairo were the best you would ever wish to meet. As for the apprtment, it was everything what we expected and more. Every thing mentioned in the listing is there. It is truly an oasis you would realy like to come to after a busy day of being a tourist. If for some reason you decided to stay home to rest you will not miss a thing, just set on the 9th floor balcony and you will have the pyramid all to yourself to admire and wonder. It is tue, the pyramid is so life-sized it is amazing, even at night you can watch the light show for free, compliment you balcony. To anyone who is contemplating renting this apartment, do not hesitate, because with the apartment you get the services (for fee of course) of the best and friendliest guys you ever meet, such as Mr. Salah who has a van and can take you any place you would like to go, also, Ahmed who was with us driving the van on several occasions, they are th best. Of course the owners (Allaa and Vernon) they were extremely helpful and friendly, they even called us in Cairo from the States on several occaisons to make sue we are OK. Allaa brother Ramadan greeted us at the apartment and took care of our needs for the night. We also were picked up from the airport in a van (all 5 of us) that was arranged by Alla and driven by Salah. What can I say, we were 110% satisfied withe apartment and the exemplary service that came with it. Thanks to everyone and we love you guys.

9th-floor Pyramids View Apartment
This place worked out very well for us. We did some tours and had tour companies pick us up at the Mina Palace Hotel (very close by, but an easier landmark for drivers to find), and we loved the apartment. Alaa's sister and her daughter greeted us at the apartment, were always available by phone to answer any questions, and (along with Alaa and Vern) made us feel very welcome!

Super long weekend in Cairo!
Beautiful and spacious apartment with a very warm welcome from our hosts; we arrived late in the evening and departed early, yet they were there to help us (even walking us to the local supermarket). Our children were delighted when we arrived and the pyramid was illuminated; each morning and every time we arrived back at the apartment they wanted to go and look at the pyramid again! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your apartment and our time in Cairo. [It was difficult for some taxi drivers to find the apartment at times!]

Very very very awesome
The property is on the nineth floor of an apartment building in the neighbourhood of Giza in Cairo. You can admire the pyramids from the balcony of the apartment. The place is very big: it has three large bedrooms a huge living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. The place is very good and surely worth the money asked by the owners. The owners were very welcoming and always prompt to answer any question on the apartment prior of leaving for my trip.

Egypt on 10... by 10!!
OMG, what an AMAZING experience... made all the better by our fantastic Cairo/Giza digs and FABULOUS hosts!! For 10 adults (2 sets of older parents and 6 adult "kids") we could NOT have had a better place to stay OR better hospitality. The apartment is BEAUTIFUL - just as the pics and video show - and with ALL of the amenities, including a washer/dryer (which was MUCH used!). But more than the apartment, our hosts were like family, literally. One stayed with us ALL day at the US Embassy (!!!!) and then went with us to the police station (!!!) and another helped us "navigate" the Egyptian Immigration Department (!!!!!!... !!!!!!!!!!!!!) after one daughter lost her passport! We also had a former Egyptian antiquities professor as our personal guide to the pyramids, Sakara tombs and temple, the Cairo and Memphis museums, the Citadel, and more! Wanna see Cairo/Giza on 10? You will not find better service or a better place to stay in Cairo/Giza!

Best Experience Ever..... Truly a Castle
This was the nicest and most beautiful place I stayed in better than the fanciest hotel you can find. The apartment was very well maintained, modern furnished with a great taste in decoration. It was a nice quiet place with a great view of the city right from the balcony. It is very roomy with a relaxing atmosphere. The price was very reasonable and all the amenities were available. It is walking distance to many attractions and central to everything. The owners as well as contacts were not only the nicest but always very concerned that all was okey and were readily available to meet all needs. I recommend this place very very highly and I will definitely rent here again in the near future!

The best apartment in Cairo!
A home away from home. The apartment is safe, spacious, clean and comfortable, furnished in an attractive and modern style.Fully equipped kitchen, wide and open living-dining area. No clutter around the apartment. Air conditioned throughout. Fantastic wifi. Vern and Alaa are a perfect combination in business, and made us feel at home. They called from overseas to welcome us in the apartment ... Everything was done in a most professional manner. They checked on us all the time. What can I say about the location... the best! The view of the Great Pyramid is amazing! Very close to amenities. My family and I will certainly return, highly recommended.

Great place to stay!!
I went to Cairo for a long weekend and had a great experience at this place. It was easy to book and Vern seemed to be available 24 hours a day for questions and any help I needed. He took care of picking me up from the airport and got me settled with family and friends that work with him. The place was clean, very spacious and the view of the pyramids from the balcony was amazing. Having morning coffee and enjoying the view was incredible. It is an easy walk to get anything you would ever need. The guides Vern recommended were great and I was able to cover a lot of territory in just 3 days. Vern regularly checked in with me during the trip to ask if I needed anything and to make sure everything was okay. I was very much treated like family which was really nice. He also took care of getting to the airport when it was time to leave. I would definitely recommend staying at this place and the real bonus is that b/c Vern takes care of so much, all you have to do is enjoy Cairo and the experience.

Not As Represented In Photos or Video
I have been using HomeAway for over two years and this was the first time I have ever had to write a negative review. Prior to arrival, Vern was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable and was extremely responsive to all emails and inquiries I had. That is the only reason I give 2 stars. On the day of arrival, the apt we saw online and what was actually presented was very different. First, it was NOT visually appealing. What we saw was a horrible run down area and a very dirty stone color bldg. The streets were unclean, & when the elevator accidentally took us to the 10th floor (twice) it looked like a wrecking ball had hit the top of the bldg. When we finally reached the apt the living room and kitchen were as it stated & figured it will do. Now the bedrooms and bathrooms were something different. The bathroom had a strong odor of urine (which we were told was due to a fumigation for bugs - tho the whole house didn't smell); the master bedroom had a ripped up pillow on it, dirty linen (the pillowcase had a dirt spot on it), the bed looked slept in and the room had recently been used that day. There was a used razor in the bathroom and fungus foot spray on the dresser. This was not what I was expecting after a 19 hrs of travel. None of the beds were not made up as noted in the photos or video I was sent. The two additional l guest rooms had unclean linen (one had some white stuff on it) and some sort of silvery-looking bug was crawling on one of the beds and was killed. A disagreement over the bug was initiated between a family member of mine who was going to sleep in the room and the person we met to receive the key with. The wifi router was not working and we were told it had to be replaced and would be done (hopefully) by the next morning. It is difficult to be out of country without wifi because it is what keeps us connected with our family. The floors were not swept well, but wearing socks or flip flops would have minimized the dust that can get on your feet. We sat and talked as a group as to what was the best course of action, but after the bug was not the bed and were told we can change the sheets; it was decided to check into a hotel for a night. I had spoken with Vern's brother on the phone and he said he would make everything right. We ended up paying for a hotel due to other circumstances. I have pictures supporting this review.

Treated like Family! Memorable Vacation.
My 4 friends and I stayed for ten days. Booking was incredibly easy. Vern was always available to answer any questions and even took the time to email us recommendations of sights to see. Lucky for us, Alaa was also visiting during our stay and he graciously took us about and showed us a great time. The apartment: Gorgeously decorated, clean, and comfortable. Great view of the Pyramid. Easy walk to nearby grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants Magic Jack made it easy to stay in contact with friends/family Wi-fi worked well- although does not reach to bedrooms Our Tour Guide director- Ashraf - was extremely helpful. He arranged our activities for our stay based on sites we knew we wanted to see and great recommendations. Ashraf took us to reputable vendors where we were treated fairly and felt safe. He even became my hero when I left my purse in the desert. He was able to recover it, and all its contents intact. For our trips to the pyramids, museum, and Citadel- we were guided by Moses (Ashraf's father). Being a retired professor, he is extremely knowledgeable about the history. Getting around usually included being driven by Salah. He is very polite, punctual, and got us safely to our destination every time. I definitely recommend this rental. Vern and Alaa genuinely want you to have a great experience and this is very apparent in the service they provide.

Family Vacation - kids and adults
My family (2 adults and 5 kids) stayed here for one week. It is a comfortable and spacious apartment. Well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. Alaa and Vernon were most gracious hosts, who gave us a tour of the local area upon our arrival and were very accessible throughout our stay. Traveling and sightseeing with kids can be tiresome, but coming back to this condo fter a long day truly felt like home away from home. Thank you for everything.

WONDERFUL experience!
Even before I had booked this beautiful and perfectly located apartment for my first trip to Cairo I emailed the owners to ask questions. Alaa, who is Egyptian with excellent English and Ben whom is American and has traveled extensively to the region were more than helpful, they were genuine and authentically invested in helping me create the perfect experience for my time in Cairo. They were available and engaged in answering all of my questions and I was confident they would do whatever it took to help me feel safe, secure and satisfied while exploring Egypt and staying in their beautiful home. The apartment is absolutely PERFECT! Views of the Pyramids from all balconies, modern and comfortable amenities within the home and a perfect location for exploring Giza, Cairo and everything Egypt has to offer in this part of the Country. The apartment itself is safe and secure with security positioned at the entrance throughout the night. Everything you will need to cook and clean is provided, the television has cable for when you want to relax at home and it is large and spacious with comfortable beds and bedding in each room. If anyone is going to Cairo THIS is the BEST place you could possibly stay with owners that are easily accessible and ready to answer all questions and provide for all your needs before, during and even after your stay!

Great stay!!! Save you're money on hotel and book this gorgeous condo!!!
I was travelling with a buddy and we were greatly surprised by this beautiful home. The pictures don't do it any justice, the wifi is a little bit weak but your on vacation. The owner Vern was very helpful and always was in contact to make sure if we needed anything. Myself I am a Canadian traveler whom has travelled throughout the world and this was my first time in Cairo although many said it was dangerous, those rumours of course are false. We walked through Tahir square and were always welcomed by the great people of Cairo. CNN makes too much of it. This apartment is a jewel and a stones throw away from the great pyramids and only a 5$ cab ride from the nearest Metro station. Great stay would recommend to any first timers any day !!!

CAIRO GIZA APARTMENT
We traveled as a family for our visit to Egypt where our visit stated with Sharm El Sheikh before flying to Cairo. the owner Mr. Vernon had reserved for us the flat before we left Nairobi, Kenya. The booking was easy as the owner immediately responded to my mail on making inquiry, and within no time the reservation was complete. We got a bit timid because of the reports that were appearing in the media at the time, how ever Mr. Vernon assured us that the area was safe. Mr. Vernon gave us updates on what was happening in Cairo progressively despite the fact that he is based in the United States of America. Mr. Salah, the van driver was sent to pick us from the airport on the arrival day, with my names clearly written on a name board. The driver is a wonderful man who not only handled the airport transfers for us but also took us round the town to all places we visited. He is indeed an asset to the tour company, and this is for Mr. Sharraf who I believe is the Managing Director of the tour company. We only talked to Sharraf on phone. We were warmly welcome at the flat by Rabha who in addition to handing us the key to the apartment also showed us round and took us to the supermarket that is well equipped to carter for the needs of any traveler. She also showed us where to change foreign currency. We did not have immediate need as we had carried some local currency from Sharm. As stated above, it was our first time to visit Egypt and therefore required advice on where to visit. Mr. Salah was of great assistance here and he made sure that we were not overcharged. One needs guidance especially when visiting the pyramids as you may not know which way to go while inside the compound and to avoid falling prey to those who may want to take an opportunity to exploit tourists. We found out the Egypt is a wonderful country with a rich heritage and friendly citizens. The occupants of the block on the other floors ( 1 to 9) were welcoming, especially the young girl of who was about six and stays on 7th floor who always smiled at us and also pressed 9th floor for us when in the lift together. We had a wonderful stay. We bought some souvenir as presents for our friends back home. This makes it a memorable visit for us. We will book the flat in future and recommend the same to friends and all

Apartment in Giza very Spacious if looking for accommodation for more than 5!
My husband and myself, our son, 18 year old grandson and his friend spent 8 days in the apartment. We found it very spacious and comfortable but not as clean as we would have liked, especially the kitchen. It would have been helpful to have instructions left for us on how to use the washing machine and the dishwasher, and we also did not discover the switch to turn the hot water on in the bathrooms until our very last day, so we spent the entire week having cold showers. The view was wonderful, although the swing on the balcony was falling apart and the upholstery torn. On the positive, the owner was very helpful to deal with and make plans with. He also put us in touch with a guide (Ashraf) who was wonderful. Prior to going to Egypt I was in contact with him and together we planned our intinerary for the week. He was our lifesaver in Cairo as we found that we would not have wanted to explore Cairo on our own. Overall the apartment was a good choice, unless you want to be in Cairo itself as Giza is quite a long drive.

Great Apartment
We chose to visit Egypt in a very politically unstable time, so we (my wife and 2 daughters <15 and 12>) were already a bit uncomfortable about this little adventure. We were relieved to see that when we arrived at Vern and Allah's apartment, we found an unbelievable property with fantastic furnishings. The apartment was very spacious and it possessed all of the wonderful comforts that we are used to in the States. As many have previously noted, the view is stunning. When we took our first view of the Great Pyramid, it was almost surreal. The market was about 500 meters down the Pyramid Road and contained everything we needed, execept for alcohol. If you intend on purchasing and drinking alcohol, do some research on the stores in Cairo/Giza which sell it, as there aren't many. We chose to load up at Duty Free and brought our own. The only issue that we had was the apartment lacked a corkscrew, and we were unable to find one in all in Cairo/Giza. However, we learned that wine doesn't taste that much different if you pust the cork throught (LOL)! All and all, we had a fantastic adventure and we highly recommend this property!!!
