"We had a good stay, it was quiet and relaxing. There were a couple of things damaged from the previous tenant which wasn't a great impression. The lock on the door broke which meant extra vigilance was needed to avoid getting locked in or out, and the pool was not clear which we pointed out within 5 minutes of our arrival, Claire was responsive but it still took 3 days until the pool guy put something in the pool specifically to clear it. I just put it down to bad luck but I was on holiday...

The villa itself had everything you would need and due to its elevated position had stunning views across the mountains and coastline. "After a 4 night stay in busy Valencia we retired to this beautiful Villa in the hills above the town of Xativa for some R&R. The photos don’t do the property justice - from being welcomed at the gate to being given a detailed tour of the property and how everything worked. Dan the host is a star, the perfect balance between keeping out of the way for our privacy and always being just a quick WhatsApp message away from answering any of our daft questions “how do we open the washing machine”! "Check-in was alright. Steps in the dark are very dangerous. There are 2 motion sensored lights that last maybe 5 seconds each. We didn’t use the pool because it was too cold. The house was very cold when we arrived and through the first night. We found out later that someone turned off the thermostat. The Internet didn’t work for 2 days. The host stayed in contact and we finally figured it out. Again… someone had reset it. The furniture in the living room is not the same as the pictures. Not...

"There were so many places for the various members of the family to relax in, and also plenty of large places for us all to gather together in. The covered pool was fabulous. The only suggestion I would have would be to have the double beds as optional twin beds, it would be handy when you have a large family grouping."

"This property has everything you need for a great vacation. We were 5 adults and 2 kids who had a great time in this house. We had som tours in the area but mostly the kids wanted to be at the pool. The area is quite apart from barking dogs, but that’s a common problem throughout Spain. We can recommend this house for families."

"Lovely villa with absolutely stunning views. If you are looking for scenery and alot less people then this is the place for you. Definately need a car. Valencia beach, which is also amazing is about 1 hour again but there is a lovely lake nearby to also swim in. If you like hustle amd bustle not the place for you but if chilaxing is your thing, stock up at the supermarket and enjoy the place."

"We couldn't have asked for a lovelier vacation in Spain. Henri, Inge and Flynn greeted us. They stayed in contact throughout the trip, checking to be sure all was well and that we were enjoying our stay. The villa was immaculate with so much style. The grounds were well kept and had lots of special areas to coalesce and enjoy the beautiful landscaping. We'll be back! Thank you, Henri and Inge, for a special time in Spain we'll never forget."

"Layout of property was as described and very pleasant and functional. Location was both a positive and a negative. Positive was quiet and great views, negative was approach road (steep and very windy) and strong breeze every day from about 2.30pm. "Lovely little place, very friendly and extremely helpful staff, mostly Spanish custom, I think I only spoke to one other British visitor in the whole fortnight! Big Carp in the lake if you're into fishing, only problem being the access needs making a bit more disabled friendly. Could do with a bit more choice on the menu, but what there was, was very nice."

"El Pao was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay. However there were some things that we did not expect. I stayed in the room with the bubble. I think it’s important to note that the only access to the room with the bubble are spiral stairs, not horrible but not also the best. I had the idea that this would be a “bed in breakfast” but because the room could only be accessed by the spiral stairs, the breakfast could not be brought up to the room. I would not recommend the room with the bubble during summer because there is no ventilation and it is very hot in there. Making it impossible to go in during the day and okay at night. Although you could go in at night, you’d have to leave in the morning because it would start to get hot. Besides that, the room was gorgeous. My favorite feature was the tub in the center of the room. The balcony area with the bubble was also very nice and big, area to tan and lay as well which I appreciated. The breakfast was also delightful and they had good coffee. I think the ventilation in the air bubble was the biggest let down because we barely used it, I was so excited for it but it was too hot for me and I couldn’t sleep comfortably. This could be my fault for lacking common sense but it’s also summer, maybe put something in there during the summer? We did ask for a fan and were provided one, which was very nice but it still didn’t do much. But the bed in there was super comfy. Overall, I would give this place a 8/10. I am very grateful to stay"
