We love this place
We stayed here in November of 2020 and absolutely loved it that we stayed at the same place again last month. We were pleasantly surprised as they did few upgrades and expended outside balcony patio. Such a lovely cabin in a price and quiet neighborhood. We stayed during Thanksgiving and loved morning walks, hiking and just quiet time in the nature. We will certainly be back again and there is so much positive I could really say about this place. Would highly recommend to anyone as it is impossible to be disappointed. Thank you for hosting us and until the next time. Have a Happy Holidays ❤️🙏

This house was the best property we have stayed in, hands down! The ride up is a little interesting the first time, but you get used to it. The views are spectacular!!! Such a special place to get away from everything but close enough to town.

Great for our Honeymoon
This was a great property for our Honeymoon. The house and the scenery was absolutely stunning. There were some wasps and hornets (as to be expected for outside) that we let the property management know were building a nest just so they could be aware of for the next guest and They came out that day to get rid of them for us. We really appreciated it even though it wasn’t necessary.

What a view!
Watia view does not disappoint! In fact it exceeded our expectations (and I'm pretty picky). Beautiful, clean, well-appointed home. An absolute dream to be there. There are beautiful views from every window, even the bathrooms. There is a new extension of the deck that is not pictured, and it doubles the size of the outdoor space and provides a lovely space to sit any time of day. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The bed and linens were excellent. We loved the hot tub and the outdoor shower. We had the lake to ourselves! Loved this spot so much we rebooked the same day we got home. These are NOT negatives, just some notes to next guests: -The drive up from the gate is not easy. It's gravel and steep. If you don't have 4-wheel drive like us, then use low gear for the steepest parts. You'll want to have decent tires. But it's well worth it. The location is remote and private. -Bring your groceries. You may not want to tackle that hill too often for a week-long visit. -The drive to the lake was also steep, but there is space for parking and you will likely be the only people there. Bring your own lake floats. The water off the swim dock is deep. You can't stand up there. The water is crystal clear and the view is stunning. You can also wave to the Great Smoky Mountain RR train. -The rental is pet-friendly but not worn out like other pet-friendly places. It was clean, smelled great and people have obviously taken care to protect the home from abuse. What a pleasure. -Also pet owners: the upper deck is completely enclosed. It's hard to tell from the photos, but there are no stairs, large openings, etc. so your dog can be on the deck with you safely. -You will be responsible for hauling away your trash unless you make arrangements with Steve. He was awesome and will take good care of you, just give him proper notice. Can't wait to come back to Watia View!

Breathtaking!
Amazingly peaceful remote cabin in the mountains. Listing is very accurate, no surprises. Cabin is clean, everything is conveniently ready for you to settle in for fun and relaxation. Remember to grab items from the store BEFORE starting your 20 min ride up the mountain! We didn’t pack coffee grinds (filters were provided) so went without a cup on the first morning to avoid a trip.

Top of the world!
The views are the most amazing thing about this contemporary, comfortable mountain escape and can be enjoyed from nearly every room, and from both the front porch (looking over Lake Fontana in the distance) and back decks. Watching the light and weather move across the mountains each day was mesmerizing! The house was comfortable for our family of 4 (+2 dogs). We enjoyed the property over the first week of April and had the mountain top to ourselves! Re: the house and the set up: - Kitchen had basic pots/pans/tools/etc for simple meals (consider bringing some pot holders, storage containers, seasonings, sugar/flour/oil/etc if you'll be cooking). We appreciated the french press but coffee filters were on hand for the traditional drip pot. - Outside you'll find a nice gas grill and a substantial fire pit with plenty of wood. - Both bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The one with the queen bed has a small attached bath with shower. The larger bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom that has the king bed and is accessed through the loft. - There is one tv (we couldn't get the cable to work but the roku set up was good for our needs), a bluetooth controlled sound system, and several games and puzzles. The hot tub was wonderful following our hikes up and down the mountainous trails and the fireplace kept us cozy when temps dropped. We didn't spend time at the Lake (levels were very low due to dam maintenance) but did hike to the small waterfall about 1.5 miles down the mountain. We also zip lined across the gorge with the fine folks at NOC and highly recommend this if you're into such adventure! If you like getting away from it all, Watia View is an excellent contender for you!

Peaceful comfort and a stellar view
A lovely house with modern conveniences and wide open views made for an easy and restoring stay. Our visit had temps moderate enough to enjoy the covered outdoor dining and its unparalleled views. The living area worked well for relaxing and cooking, with bedrooms spaced apart for privacy. The curving entrance road was well maintained, delivering you to a ridge top stay without nearby neighbors, ensuring a quiet stay.

Spectacular Mountain Views/ Spectacular house!!
Unfortunately we had bad luck with the weather with tropical storm Fred. Other than that everything was perfect. We had a few hiccups due to the storm and the property management team was on top of it. The view of the mountains from the house was absolutely beautiful. Windows from floor to ceiling with views from every room. We didn’t want to leave. Will definitely come back!!

Excellent vrbo find! Felt like we were in the clouds! Loved watching the view from the front porch and back deck. Hot tub, outdoor games like Jenga and corn hole, and the swim dock made for hours of fun. Highly recommend. The private road in and out to the NOC made it feel like an adventure. Watia View was Worth every Penny!!
Watia View was perfect for our family of four and small dog. Could accommodate 5 or 6. The Views were absolutely amazing and will gladly stay here again....hopefully soon. The beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need. We also developed a new found love for Scrabble!! Location was fantastic being right up the road from the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Short hike to a waterfall located off the private community road. Suggest driving down to private marina and just taking in the serenity of the lake. If you get lucky - as we did - the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad train may pass by while you’re down at the lake. Can’t wait to get back. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

You're missing out if you don't stay here!
I've never been so sad for a vacation to come to an end. The house was as pictured & described, but better. There are incredible views from all levels & rooms of the home. The hot tub is divine after a long hike. With the surroundings it's hard to want to stay inside so this house is perfect to enjoy the outdoors without going far for those who want less action & more relaxation. Lots of fantastic hiking around and it's a quick drive to NOC so plenty of things for families to do, places to eat etc. We cooked/grilled most meals & were very happy with how the kitchen was stocked to make that easy. It is so peaceful & beautiful up there, it really is a real treat. Book NOW-seriously you won't regret it!

Great views, seclusion, and serenity
We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again. It looked just like the pictures and the expansive windows offered great views. It was very quiet and secluded. It seemed well insulated from any noise, be it from construction of a new cabin down the lane (and out of sight) or a thunderstorm. The cabin was well stocked and we didn't need to replenish anything (e.g., toilet paper, paper towels, cookware, etc) during our weeklong stay. We also appreciated the little things (flashlights in receptacles at strategic locations, the fire starting kit, and kitchen items. NC Mountains Reality, the property manager, seems to do a good job and were quick to reply with questions. Everything that mattered was clean and spotless (kitchens, bathrooms, beds). I gave them a 4/5 for cleanliness only because I'm a tough grader (e.g., window sills and baseboards could use a vacuum), but it was still in the top percentiles of VRBO type places I've stayed in. Our front wheel drive SUV with tires at the end of their lifespan struggled with climbing the last 200 yards to the cabin, which is a steep gravel incline. We actually spun out a couple of times on our way up. A more capable AWD vehicle with better tires probably wouldn't have any issues though and after a few days we had our technique down (needed to turn off our overly intrusive traction control, which would shut down power at the worst possible time, causing us to lose momentum). It also takes some time (20 mins?) to wind up and down the mountain to and from the cabin, so factor that into your plans. Not a big deal and a small price to pay for the seclusion. We found that it was easier to go in and out through the back (via the NOC).

Heaven!
Heaven on earth--away from it all, but close to everything. The house is really set up to enjoy every single window. It's lovely to sit and just take in the splendor of the Smokey Mountains. Beds and pillows were SO comfortable which is so nice in a rental! The Wifi was excellent and being able to sit in and watch a streaming movie was icing on the cake of awesome. A note for groups more than 3--one of the beds is advertised as a queen but is actually a full, making it a bit cozy to share. Sitting room in living room area is limited so we ended up bringing our lake chairs in so all of us could comfortably watch a movie. I'd suggest this house in a minute for anybody traveling in a group of 3 or possibly 4 and you'll be happy and comfortable! The dock and lake access was a little bit of a drive but once you get there it's absolutely perfect! It's great fun to see the train roll by and the lake is divine! Great to have a shady or sunny spot to dive into Fontana Lake. Loved our visit!

Well designed cabin with a beautiful view
Its rare to find a rental where real life views live up to the pictures, Watia View however was that rare instance. The views were beautiful, and the cabin was designed with large windows on two floors. The covered lower porch has a hot tub, Jenga and cornhole to enjoy if it's a rainy day. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The roads are narrow but well maintained. Great experience!

mountaintop wonderland
We stayed at Watia View end of July and had the best vacation yet. The bed were comfy, home spacious and views spectacular. We prepared every meal in the well-appointed kitchen and ate at the huge granite island. With one king bed, one queen and a pull-out queen, 6 is the perfect number. Access to NOC on the private road allowed us to reach rafting and zipline in under 8 minutes. Amazing! Corn hole, jacuzzi and fire pit were terrific and used daily. We will be back!!!!
