Renter Beware - Cancelled last minute and late refund
I have booked the property 3 weeks ahead of my stay. Two days before the rental I had not received check-in information, thus I reached out via Vrbo and directly to the property owner asking about the stay. The property owner then informed me that the property was double booked and my stay had to be canceled. There was no explanation of how the double booking happened nor how it was decided that ours have to be canceled. The story did not end there, the property owner didn’t issue a refund even after the cancellation was imminent. Upon opening 3 cases online and on the phone with Vrbo, I finally got the refund more than 1 week after the cancellation was communicated.
Double booking could happen but we are very disappointed in how it was communicated late without explanation. The refund was also issued very late after the cancellation and only happened after hours of following up with Vrbo support and the property owner.
The idea of a rental property is so that you could plan out a vacation with your family. Ruining it two days before the rental and not getting your money back is the last thing you’d want.
