I stayed here for a week and would have liked this to be a 5 star review. The hotel is beautiful and well situated. My room was spacious and well-appointed.
I’ve given the staff 3 stars. They are courteous, pleasant, and speak excellent English. Sadly, they often seemed to have difficulty getting things done. For example, one of the sliding doors on my wardrobe jammed. I couldn’t get to my clothes. I asked 3 times over a period of 18 hours for this to be fixed, but it wasn’t. The next day, having worn the same clothes 2 days running and being reluctant to do so for a third, I removed the door and left it lying on the floor. It remained there untouched for a further 2 days before one of the maids involved her supervisor and it was fixed in about an hour. I don’t understand why that couldn’t have happened sooner. .
I’m afraid, I can’t really compliment housekeeping either. Little details of servicing the room such as emptying the waste baskets, replenishing the minibar and replacing the pods that I’d used in the coffee machine were regularly overlooked; not all at the same time, but there was always something. I once asked reception to send up some coffee pods but nothing arrived.
Please don’t get me wrong. This is a good hotel. I enjoyed my stay and will return. But the minor annoyances mean I can’t give it 5 stars. A pity because a little more efficiency and greater commitment by housekeeping and maintenance to act on requests from reception would have prevented them.
