Summary:
This idyllic, newly renovated cottage and annexe are located in West Tanpit Wood, a protected woodland just 10 minutes drive from Bristol suspension bridge and Clifton. Upon arriving, you will be greeted with a beautiful canopy of greenery and the peaceful sounds of nature. The cottage and annexe extension offer plenty of room for six guests to spread out and enjoy, with acres of countryside land to explore right from the door and a garden to make the most of in warm months!
The Space:
Inside, you are greeted with warm and welcoming country-cottage interiors. A roaring log burner takes centre stage in the living room, creating the perfect spot to slump back and relax on cooler evenings. Guests can take to the comfortable corner sofa and armchairs, with a film or series playing on the large 4K smart TV. Next door, the spacious kitchen diner has been tastefully decorated with traditional sage green shaker-style cabinets. You will find ample mod cons fitted too; from the new range cooker to a handy dishwasher. You will find gorgeous traditional features running throughout, from exposed wooden beams to cast iron fireplaces. Leading on, there is a lovely conservatory room with beautiful views out over the garden - it'll be hard to pull yourself away from the comfortable sofa and your book!
The main house has two bedrooms upstairs: a well-sized king-sized master and a further twin room. These share a stylish, modern family bathroom equipped with a luxurious waterfall shower and separate bath tub. The separate annexe offers guests the opportunity to have space from the main house and is kitted out like a charming wood cabin. Inside, find a king-size bed, en-suite with shower, washing machine and a wood-burner. Snuggle up in front of the fire on cooler evenings or fling open the large windows on sunnier days and enjoy the best of indoor-outdoor living.
The surrounding gardens are splendid and offer plenty of space for the whole group. Enjoy barbecues on the patio in summer, read your book under the trees in the swinging chair or sunbathe from one of the loungers. Children will love running around free-range and having a go on the charming tree swing! There are walks to enjoy straight from the door: explore the surrounding woodland, visit Tyntesfield House or the beautiful Ashton Hill Plantation. With the vibrant city of Bristol just a 10 minute drive, you're in the perfect place to enjoy the best of both worlds!
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the whole house and garden.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is located in a protected woodland on the outskirts of Bristol. With only wildlife and the trees as neighbours, the cottage is a stunning place for nature lovers. You are surrounded by bridleways, walks and mountain biking trails which can be picked up right from the cottage. It is, however, located within close proximity to the city (20 minutes to the centre) so you can enjoy some parts of a city break to boot! Bristol is a beautiful city with Georgian heritage, a bustling harbour, pretty green spaces and a fierce independent spirit.
Ashton Hill Plantation is just a three minute drive and offers a stunning section of woodland for walks and cycles. Tyntesfield, a National Trust property with gothic Victorian links, is just four minutes drive and a great choice for a day out. Wander around the groomed gardens or enjoy tea and cake on the pretty lawns. Bristol & Clifton Golf Course is within walking distance or a very short drive, whilst Long Ashton Golf Course is similarly only a 5 minute drive. For families, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is also nearby.
Less than 10 minutes drive away is Leigh Woods and Ashton Court Estate offer over 850 acres of countryside, walking paths, lakes, woodland and mountain biking trails to explore, as well as a herd of resident deer. From here you can walk over to Clifton, an idyllic part of Bristol which is home to the iconic Suspension Bridge. It's also home to a good selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Further in town, you will find two theatres with regular shows as well as art galleries and museums to mooch around. The city is also a much loved foodie destination so you'll never struggle to find good dining options. Head to Whapping Wharf for lunch beside the water: Seven Lucky Gods, Paco Tapas and Gambas are just few of our favourites. Redland is another food-driven street: head to Wilson's Restaurant for fine dining and Snobby's for delicious Italian food.
Getting Around:
Bristol has brilliant transport links from London Paddington and Cornwall, however due to the remote nature of the property we would recommend visiting with a car. There is space for up to three cars on the driveway, and if you want to visit the city centre it's a quick drive or taxi away!
Other Things to Note:
Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.
Some previous guests have noted the stair case is quite steep, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations.
