Sitting on the Back of the Bay

Beautiful sunrises & sunsets on the Back Bay. This home is a vacationers paradise. You can see Canada from the living room and watch the freighters. Boat launch 1000 ft away and we are currently working on putting in a boat dock. ATV and Snowmobile trail just feet away. A little slice of Paradise. Enjoy

Rest and relaxation!
Beautiful location on the water. Very clean and comfortable. TV was hard to find local news stations. We don't all know how smart tvs work. Directions and programs would be helful. Just a suggestion. Loved the view from living room and deck. Saw 4 freighters in a weekend stay.

Spectacular cabin - like a 5 Star hotel!
We wanted a place that was close to family where we could just relax. This exceeded all expectations! Everything had an extra special touch. The view is extraordinary - we even had Northern Lights on the first night! Beautiful deck and great for watching freighters and wildlife. The furnishings are lovely and everything feels new, yet retains that cabin feel. We had family stay with us one night with small kids and it was great for them too! We loved it and will be back.

Good UP location /Beautiful view of the bay
This is a good location to be able to enjoy the far eastern side of the UP. Watch the Freighters heading to/from the locks. This is a “up north” getaway, not a luxury lake house. Some things have been updated, some things could be better with a little effort. The two bedrooms are small but functional. The beds. Very comfortable- relatively new mattresses good bedding. Good dressers bedrooms, Towels- plenty. The kitchen, not brand new but it all decent. Well stocked with dishes, glassware, toaster, coffeemaker (not keurig). The living room is decent, great view and a lovely gas fireplace. Ceiling fans (very helpful in the heat wave we were there for and 95% humidity). Hot water- good pressure. A Washer/Dryer and Dishwasher. New deck furniture and outdoor rug made an otherwise rough looking deck very usable. Backyard facing the bay has Solo stove firepit with chairs and a gas Grill (but we had to clean it to use) No physical access to the water from the yard. Easy access to the Soo for groceries and anything else you need and near the Bay Mills Casino. Some things could use attention to make the place shine: Full Bathroom is dated but ok, the tub and shower are oddly separate units. The shower needs a better curtain. The hallway needs better light fixture or Bulbs. Windows and screens-need to be cleaned of spider webs/bugs. A few sticky spots in cabinets. Baseboard covers need a coat of paint. Outside needs maintenance. Missing gutters, holes in the deck need repair.

Great location
We had a fun stay at this property. Location was great as we could walk to a small fishing pier and also to a great local restaurant. The layout of the house worked well for us and the beds were very comfortable. I would have given 5 stars but the house and the outside grill could be kept a little cleaner.

Gorgeous view of the bay
This house is right on the water and has a gorgeous view with huge back windows. The house is dated and is an amusing combination of 70s (wall paneling and an avocado green tub) and log cabin furniture. There isn’t much decor but the view more than makes up for it. The house is clean and has a nice kitchen with everything you need. The only thing I couldn’t find was a kettle. The fridge is showing its age but there’s a chest freezer to use. The house is in the woods so there are bugs outside and spiders who snack on them. The windows desperately need to be cleaned, as do the baseboard heaters. The deck also seems to be held together with spider webs. That being said, when we had a small issue, Clayton came over the next morning to help! He is super nice. Brimley is a great location - 20 minutes to the locks and about an hour to Tahquemenon Falls.

Enjoyed our stay on the bay
We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our time there. The view is stunning, but there is no water access from the backyard. There is a significant drop / sea wall and no dock, ramp, or beach to access water. I didn’t realize this before our arrival. The kitchen has been updated and is nicely stocked. I appreciated the stainless steel cookware and glass dishes. The dishwasher and laundry were convenient and in good working order. The owner let me know the freezer was leaking before our arrival, but I didn’t notice any leaks, however it was impossible to even open the freezer door more than a few inches. The indoor gas fireplace was so nice to use in the evening, as was the outdoor fire pit. You can park in the garage, and the house is close to lots of sights and places to enjoy the outdoors. We went to Brimley State Park and a nearby roadside beach out past Iroquois Point. Yes, the deck is in desperate need of repair / replacement. It didn’t bother me though, as I spent most of my time in the chairs in the yard (mid July there were only 3, one was broken in the garage). The inside was very clean, but those big windows are also in desperate need of help. I was tempted to get a broom and hose and do it myself, but just watched the ginormous spiders spin their webs instead. VBRO says you’ll get check in info 3 days before, so I reached out 2 days before arrival and the owner let me know that they give check in info 24 hours before arrival. 8/10 would recommend

It was a nice place. Only reason did not get 5 stars on all of is was I had to time with check in info. I had to reach out to the host to get check in information. There was no house # on the property. Mailbox numbers worn off. Husband found post with house numbers in the deep grass on property looking for some starter wood. Did get informed of frig leak right before we went. Had to have a towel on the floor to keep the water getting on floor. Gutters and deck in need of repair. But it was a quaint little place and we do appreciate letting us stay there.

Amazing view in a dated home
The view was amazing. The home was adequetely stocked and the hosts' communication was great. The home is in need of overall updates and cleaning, inside and out. Their was no air conditioning and we stayed during a heat wave. It was uncomfortably warm with no breeze off the lake.

Comfy with a view
We loved the house and all of its charm. The view was amazing. Loved watching the freighters on their way to/from the Locks. We were there during both hot days (85) & cold (40). The ceiling fans kept the place very comfortable during the heat & the furnace kept us cozy when the weather turned. Great location with an amazing view! Convenient to gas, places to eat, groceries, and more. Host was responsive & helpful. We would love to return again!

Great Trip
We stayed here for 3 nights and really liked it. The house was plenty big enough for our family of 4. The views of the lake and the ships going by was great. Though the place is older, it has been nicely remodeled on the inside. The inside was very clean also. The outside of the property could use a little bit of attention. The location is very good for getting to the destinations in the eastern UP.

2023 UP Vacation
This was our first time renting a cottage and it did not disappoint. We stayed for a week. Upon walking in and seeing the fantastic view through all the windows to the total feeling of relaxation we got from just sitting outside down by the water was amazing. I loved that this cottage is a blend of old and new. New kitchen, flooring and remodeled bathrooms. Lovely great room with stone fireplace. Shower in main bath has two shower heads, plenty of hot water. Dishwasher and washer and dryer. You can see the ships at a distance. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that the listing says A/C but we did not see that in any way. Granted it doesn't get that hot but there had been a lot of rain just before we got there and we would have liked to dry it out/dehumidify with the a/c. We were perfectly comfortable with ceiling fans and windows open. Soo Locks are abt 15 minutes away. Whitefish point 45 min to an hour.Bay Mills casino is less than 10 minutes. It really is a nice quiet area. Owner, Amy, very quick to respond and also offered to stock the place with fresh meats from their farm. I would love to see the place in the Fall. Colors must be amazing.

Lovely
This house is a great place to stay. We really enjoyed the garage to load and unload since it rained a lot. The living area was so relaxing to watch for the big ships to pass to and from the locks. We had no trouble getting into the place and it was just what we needed. Had 3 adults there so the extra bathroom was appreciated. I would definitely recommend this place to stay if you are in the area.

Great place in Brimley
Everything was great for our stay! Clean, well stocked kitchen, clean towels. We stayed with our toddler and twin bed room was great to set up the pack-n-play. Our dogs felt welcomed and good back sliding door to let them out. The view is amazing and can see all the ships go past. That’s the best part about this rental. Right on the water but no beach. Very close to brimley state park and east 25 min drive to soo locks! About 45 to the falls. Overall, was a great place to stay a couple nights and hit our favorite UP spots!

Great vacation
Enjoyed the location. Great to day trips to Soo Locks, Whitefish Point, and Mackinac Island. Also just sitting watching the ships go by was awesome(use a marine app to get info about each ship) The State park down the road had a great beach and park too! Our one concern with no propane for the grill was addressed immediately and the grill worked great. The property was clean on the inside, and worked great for our family. The deck could use a little work, and the windows and screens a good spring cleaning. Would come back again and had a great time! Thank you!
