Cedar Nook is a charming farm cottage with panoramic mountain views. Observe cattle on pasture, watch crop harvest in season, or just relax inside or on the porch. A grove of cedar trees give privacy from the nearby road, but you can hear traffic - especially the farm trucks and tractors as they go by. The cottage is 6 miles from Interstate 81, and 5 miles from Bridgewater, a college town featuring many services and supplies plus fine parks.
Wide doorways and a ramp from the parking area to the porch make the downstairs wheelchair friendly. The first floor is approved as a residence and the upstairs is approved by zoning regulations for storage.

Exceeded expectations!
This property truly exceeded our expectations for a stay! Our host was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and went above and beyond being helpful! She truly went the extra mile, including bringing us fresh baked cookies and chopping extra wood so we could have fresh firewood after a rain! We could not recommend this place more!!

This is a lovely property in a pretty rural area. From the front porch you can watch the sun rise over the mountains. The cabin is comfortable and well-appointed and the hosts are super. I'll stay here again.

Phenomenal Stay

Wonderful place to stay…wish our visit was longer!
Owners stock everything you could need for a comfortable and relaxing visit. Beds are very comfortable and bath even has a shower chair if you need it. My favorite part was the porch swing that overlooks a picturesque dairy farm. Quaint and relaxing accommodations.

Excellent stay all around.
This was an excellent stay all around. The location was beautiful, the lodging was very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely. The one thing that stood out most to me is how very thoughtful the hosts have been in setting up the cottage - with plenty of minute details throughout the house that really add charm and warmth to the place. It feels that the hosts take real pride in this and it really shows. Frankly - this was one of the best places I have stayed in a very long time. Hopefully we will do it again soon!

The owner was very nice. Showed us around and told us about all the amenities. She even stocked the refrigerator with some food, milk and yogart which was so helpful because we were so busy the entire time we stayed. The beds were comfortable and we had great nights of sleep. Thank you!

Take a step back in time and enjoy the quaint countryside of Augusta County. The owner made our experience highly personalized by providing a lit campfire, wonderful snacks, and a fully stocked cabin. We really enjoyed our short visit and their impressive views!

Christmas "Home away from Home"
The property is exactly as described; beautiful, comfortable, quaint and truly a "home away from home". The cottage is exceptionally outfitted with everything you need. And items you may have forgotten to bring. Lol. Cleanliness and organization is phenomenal. The hosts are well intuned to travelers needs. This is the best VRBO we've booked, and will revisit. An extra plus is the quiet of the community with an opportunity to view the mountains and Harrisonburg city lights on the horizon. There are opportunities to sleep up to 8 people as there is a murphy bed and a sleep sofa downstairs and 2 twins and a queen upstairs. These choices are well suited to young adults and/or children.

Holiday Getaway
This beautiful cottage is built in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed our stay here. This cottage had all the room we needed for our family and met all of our needs and then some. David and Ferne were very gracious hosts. Ferne made sure we had everything we needed. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay for the Thanksgiving weekend. Already missing the the great view of the stars and the mountain views.

Spring Getaway
My overall experience with this property was amazing. David and Ferne were truly polite and made the check in process really easy. They gave us helpful directions to the property, showed us around and gave us information about nearby attractions and activities. They gave us spectacular views of mountains and farm land. The property itself was so nice, well kept, and just overall soothing. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to get away in the mountain/country area. Would come back again.

Farm Retreat
This was the absolute best place I have ever stayed! We truly felt like pampered and welcomed guests. From the personal greeting on the property to the tour of the cottage, showing us where everything is located, to the fully stocked kitchen and medicine cabinet, a fire starter kit, extra wood, s’mores, and breakfast in the morning- we were treated like family. Everything was so clean and tidy. The cottage is cute as can be and close to restaurants and attractions. We loved hearing the cows at night. We will definitely be back when visiting JMU.

Absolutely Delightful Country Cottage!
What an amazing find for a weekend trip to central VA. David and Ferne were accommodating, caring, and a joy to meet. Everything was perfect upon arrival and our gracious hosts were very helpful throughout our stay. This charming cottage was probably the cleanest home we have ever rented and was as described – a great location, peaceful, panoramic mountain views, and amenities to spare. The kitchen was stocked with treats, the medicine cabinets had several necessities, and an unexpected nicety was the small fire our hosts had started for us in the outside pit. There were several extra special touches that made our stay that much better. Upstairs is a little small/short, but it simply adds to the uniqueness of this cottage. We will definitely return, and I would recommend it to others looking for a peaceful place to stay.

A little peace of heaven
For us it was a nice, relaxing getaway from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. The charming cottage offered us a peaceful retreat with stunning views. Our host Fern was an angel, she answered our every queries promptly, she greeted us in person despite arriving late at night, checked back with us the following day!! The refrigerator and pantry were fully stocked, and the place was so thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. We'll definitely be back!!
