"The lace is lovely and very close to Mont St Michelle. The proprietor is very kind and attentive. Breakfast was wonderful and the host is very engaging. The room is clean and quiet with a big bed and nice bathroom. I would highly recommend."

"The owners were lovely and very welcoming with off road parking provided within the grounds. The whole building was full or character and very stylishly decorated to a high level with a selection of D-day memorabilia and information in the dining room. There was a good breakfast included of Croissant/Pain au Chocolate/Pain au Raisin and bread, preserves and cheese together with hot drinks and juice. "Villa des Dunes is lovely - a really nice quiet spot right by the beach, in a lovely old building. The host made us and our little dog very welcome, she made us a lovely continental breakfast and even made up a picnic lunch for the next day. We would definitely stay again!"

"Arrived at farm to find the bedroom very old, cold and very dated, a minute kitchen with minute facilities with the minute fridge already fully stocked by the next rooms tenants and we weren’t prepared to share a 2 ring stove. The bathroom only had a hand held shower head hanging off the wall over the bath. It was only £42 per night but it was not even worth a second look to be honest."

"We stayed here for one night after arriving earlier in Cherbourg. The property was easily found using a sat nav. The owner, Roger, was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable with refreshments available. Having asked prior to our arrival, we had a fantastic 3 course evening meal expertly prepared and presented by his young chef Brenda. Breakfast in the morning was a continental offering with the option of freshly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs. Everything was spot on....

The reason for the four-star review was because the property details didn't mention anything about an extra charge for linens/bed sheets. "We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights end of March but were let down by a number of factors in the control of the owner ie. 1. No reply received to 4 messages sent to the owner over a 4 week period until the day before we arrived. 2. Only 1/4 of a toilet roll provided. 3. We had to make up the bed. 4. "My daughter and I greatly enjoyed our recent overnight stay at La Mere Poulard. The current renovations did lend to a less-than-ideal level of cleanliness and noise, and the buildings are definitely in need of them. Despite this, however, it was hard to be upset in such a historic and beautiful place! Breakfast was delightful. We would definitely stay again- and highly recommend a meal at the restaurant! "

"The position is amazing with unimpeded views towards the mount. The walk to the island from there is flat and easy if you enjoy walking or you can take the free shuttle bus which stops right outside. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we had a wonderful view across the fields to Mont Saint Michel. "

Luxury stay close to Mont St. Michel

"A gem of a place in the vicinity of Mont St. Michel. The owner personally welcomed and took us to our suite which was spacious and luxurious. The attention to detail of what it offered was extraordinary and the room was extremely quiet. For breakfast, we had croissants and coffee-- the very best croissants in all of France and the coffee was superb! And for a nominal fee, we were also driven a few minutes to the shuttle bus going to Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey. All in all, an enjoyable stay at this hotel which we would highly recommend."

"We used Granville as our hub to explore the Normandy area in France. We rented a car and stayed at Hotel des Bains for five nights. The room was clean and comfortable. We had our adult son along so we book the "Superior Family Room side sea view" which was excellent. Our son had his own area with a privacy curtain. Our balcony looked over the sea. We had a great stay."
