This gite is in the beautiful Mayenne region of Pays-de-Loire and is reached via a private lane in tranquil rolling countryside.The gite sleeps 2 in a double bedroom and has a shower room with shower, basin & toilet. There is international TV in the cosy lounge/diner and a pop-up cot if needed.
The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer. Outside you will find an enclosed private garden area of a cherry tree orchard, BBQ and a covered veranda with seating area with lights. Sun loungers are provided along with a variety of outdoor games and bicycles if requested. All towels & bedding are provided. All amenities are included in the rental (summer bookings only). There is an abundance of local restaurants and bars serving quality food from around the world but sourced locally (including Sunday roasts). The local village (Brece) is 3km away (or 2 through the country walk along the river Colmont) with a Boulangerie. 2km further is Gorron with supermarket, butchers, bars and shops. Locally there is the beautiful town of Mayenne with a castle, ancient church, river and shopping facilities (Aldi/Lidl/Hyper U/Leclerc). Pontmain has a fabulous “Blue” sacred church, St Fraimbault, a beautiful award winning village (16km) has a lovely lake, with walks and woods crazy golf & picnic area. St Hilaire de Harcourt is about 30 km away with its Wednesday market, beautiful lake with walks, cafes, bars, shops and supermarkets
The World Heritage site of Mont St Michel; the new British Normandy Memorial, the D-Day Landing beaches and War Cemetries are approximately an hour away. St Malo with its fabulous enclosed castle, with individual shops, along with France`s coast on the English Channel (La Manche), make a full day out.The BAYEAUX tapestry is approx 2 hours away but is a must see,. Another day out for shoppers is Fougeres only 40 minutes away, along with its castle, the largest intact medieval one in Europe, moat, working mill and café are well worth a walk, and don’t forget to include leisure facilities at the forest on the outskirts. Flers is 45 min away with its chateau and lovely gardens, cafes and shops
Falaise (1hr 30min) is the site of William the Conqueror's castle, has peaceful walks around it especially the lake walk & a Saturday market. Bagnoles de L'Orne is a wonderful day out, where you can sit by the lake with an ice cream and watch the day go by. At Espace Louis Derbre, near Ernee, there is a sculpture museum.
For country walks try 'voie verte' along the old railway lines @ Barenton, Also Fosse Arthour at Georges De Rouelly, with woodlands lake walks and rock climbing.
