The Space:
Ramblers Rest Cottage has a bright open plan living and dining area. With a log-burning fireplace, it’s the perfect spot to cosy up and unwind. Relax on the comfy, light grey sofa and turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy a quiet evening in. Look out the french doors which open onto the enclosed decking area and admire the stunning open views of fields with sheep and deer, as well as Thirlwall Castle in the distance. The dining area features a wooden dining table and four matching chairs.
Shaker in style, the bright kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need to prepare meals easily.
Head to the bedrooms and you’ll find comfortable double beds with premium bed linens. Pops of colour are added with the soft furnishings to bring character to the rooms.
There is a good-sized bathroom with a bathtub and overhead shower, as well as a WC and basin.
There is an enclosed decking area overlooking the open fields with a table, chairs and flower pots. You will also find a large garden opposite at the back of the property which includes a table and chairs, there is also a BBQ for guest use.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is free parking available at the end of the row of houses, just a few yards from the property.
Cycle storage is available at the property.
The Neighborhood:
Greenhead is a beautiful little village within a national park with a country pub and restaurant, tea rooms and a golf course, as well as great cycling and walking routes along Hadrians Wall and the Pennine Way which both run alongside the cottage. Thirlwall Castle is a stones' throw away and Tipalt Burn can be overlooked from the garden.
Haltwhistle golf course in Greenhead is probably one of the most scenic and historically interesting in Britain.
There are many places to eat in Haltwhistle know as the ‘Centre of Britain’ and just 3 miles away from Greenhead. The Black Bull and Manor House are very popular with the locals.
Twice Brewed do star gazing in the winter which is very popular ! Visit the stunning Lake District just a short drive away or head to the Vindolanda Roman Army award winning museum. Walltown Country Park is one of the most visited places in the area.
Lambley viaduct trail has a manageable family walk along it whilst Talkin Tarn glacial lake and country park is just beautiful and well worth a visit.
If you fancy some cake just drop some pennies in the honesty box outside the last cottage on the row as the lovely lady there loves to bake and they are delicious !
Getting Around:
The closest train station to Greenhead can be found in Haltwhistle. From here, you’ll have direct routes to Carlisle, Hexham, the Metrocentre and Newcastle. A number of connecting routes can also be found from these stations so getting to other locations around the UK could not be easier.
The 685 bus route calls in Greenhead, with the route running between Brampton and Hexham, with stops in several Northumberland villages.
