The market town of Brampton is the perfect base from which to explore northern Cumbria and Hadrian's Wall. The town is small enough to feel like you are escaping city living but large enough to have a number of shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways on the doorstep. Brampton is just off the A69 and a 20-minute drive from the M6 making it easily accessible no matter where you are travelling from, which also means exploring northern Cumbria couldn't be easier. The border city of Carlisle is 20 minutes away with shops, restaurants, pubs, cinema and attractions to keep the children entertained including Lazer Quest, trampoline park and soft play centres and one of the best kept castles and cathedral. Within a 5-minute drive is Talkin Tarn, a natural beauty spot with tarn, woodland trail, café and rowing boats to hire, you can also try your hand at some watersports including canoeing and paddle boarding. Historians will delight at the closeness of Hadrian's Wall, a short drive, and many people walking the wall stop off at Brampton for refreshments before returning to follow in the footsteps of a bygone era. Within less than an hour's drive you could be spending a day on the Solway Coast, walking the fells of the Lake District, shopping at the Metro centre at Gateshead or exploring Gretna Green in the Scottish Borders made famous by eloping couples tying the knot over the anvil.
