"a beautiful new quinta on a 350 year old farm/vineyard. You do not stay in the main family house but in a beautifully remodeled ruin that has so much charm. lovely breakfasts and delicious wines and tapas from their vineyard. beautiful room and view of the Douro Valley. We really enjoyed our two night stay in Douro especially because of Casa do Santo. just a few rooms so there is opportunity to visit with other guests of the quinta. "

"A fantastic stay at a beautiful property with amazing views and surroundings - and dog friendly ! We had the best time including our Labrador who loved exploring the vineyards ! Shame we couldn’t use the pool as it wasn’t very suitable due to the weather, but nevertheless, it was a great experience ! Topping it off with great hospitality throughout !"

"Perfect location to serve as a base for touring the region. Outstanding river views from rooms. Adjacent to railway station with cute trains on route adjacent to river. Excellent breakfast and fine restaurant for dinner. "

"For us, this was a great choice. A quiet location and we had a view of the river from our room and also from the common area patios. The hotel clerk gave us excellent advice to take the scenic train from the station across the street which was a wonderful experience. He also showed us a scenic drive through the wine country with a detour to a lookout point which was breathtaking. However this is a very isolated location with one restaurant next door and one across the street. We did have a great meal at the next door restaurant. But if you are looking for lots of dining options this is not the place to stay. The room itself was a bit small and not recently updated. But it was very quiet and we had the window open all night with a nice breeze off the river. Breakfast was a full buffet with lots of options. "

"Hotel within a gorgeous setting surrounded by vineyards and a great view of the Douro valley the food was also very good although the restaurant must add salads to their menu! I wish I had spent at least 3 days here just relaxing !!!"
