This historic house was private charming in many ways, and the kitchen, bathrooms and bedlinen/towels were clean. The cutlery, crockery, servingware and glassware were all lovely.
However, we also found that there were dead flies all along the window ledges, the outdoor table was too dirty to use, all the windows and doors were covered in old cobwebs, and the tablecloth was grimy. We were also disappointed by the very old pots, pans and baking trays.
Finally, we believe that the house description should be upfront that the property is right next to the railway line and that there are frequent passenger and freight trains. Aside from the noise throughout the day and night, we were very glad there were no children or pets on this trip, as there is no secure fencing between the property and the tracks.
With a little upkeep and some care and attention, the house could be a lovely retreat within an easy distance of town and wineries.
We have stayed in and around Bowral many times over several years, and this property cost more than we usually pay, but not the quality we expected.
