Winter weather can be mercurial. Check the weather report for this area and plan your travel accordingly. Snow plows do not operate on secondary roads between 8PM and 5AM. The road to the house is a single lane dirt country road. It is plowed by the town of Bovina Center but will still have potholes so drive carefully. The driveway to the cabin is UPHILL. 4WD or AWD vehicles are necessary. If you are unfamiliar with driving in the snow, particularly uphill, search online for tips. Sites like AAA have good information. The driveway is plowed and shoveled to the entrance. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay.
The full sized bed is in the loft. Guests must be able to climb a metal ladder.
The cabin may not be suitable for young children and infants as the bed is up a ladder in the loft but the daybed is a narrow twin so a child can sleep on the main floor.
The fireplace does not have a gate around it.
There are no curtains, we love the view! If you are sensitive to sunlight in the morning we recommend a sleeping mask.
The cabin is in the country. Animals and insects also live in the country. Common animals are deer, bobcat, fox, coyote, skunk, raccoon, porcupine, and bear. Visit the NYS DEC website for a full list of animals, reptiles and insects in NY as well as information on how to avoid animal encounters.
Payment processing fees are non-refundable.
