House is located across the street from the ocean front with views of the ocean from the roof top deck. Property manager is located nearby and available for questions. Very responsive.
This house was so nice and even though it was 0 degrees and the wind was blowing a ton we made the best of it. Had a nice fire all weekend and played cards and tried to run out to the sauna with out being blown away. Great location even in the dead of winter.
This home was perfect for our family Thanksgiving get-together.
Everyone enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and there was ample room in the Kitchen. One thing to take into account is that sleeping more than 9 guests is a stretch, especially since the "sleeping porches" with pull-out couches did not appear to be heated.
House fit all of us comfortably. Plenty of space to relax and for family fun. Host answered all our questions promptly and even stopped by to say hello. Great small town location. Would definitely book again.
Our group was 4 adults and 4 young children.
Pros:
-Beautiful location and views
-Close walk to multiple beaches, generalstore, ice cream and possibly the downtown strip if you didn’t have small kids
-grill and most kitchen items accessible
-internet
-Netflix Disney on tv
-hot (but the temp button didn’t work so it was like warm which was great for our kids but may not be so great for you)
Cons
-my biggest one was the lock on the cover for the hot tub was broken on both sides. Really not safe for kids in the area. There was some strap with a crank on it that I think was meant to lock the hot tub but it was not in place when we arrived and we couldn’t figure it out
-the ac basically doesn’t work except downstairs. Glad our week wasn’t too hot and cooled down at night but it got HOT upstairs during the day
-the neighbors were told it was a shared yard which was awkward because were not told that. Neighbors came and set up a sprinkler while we were enjoying dinner and they were loud until late at night in the yard for our house
-beach stuff like kayaks and chairs are not located on property. You have to ask owner for them
-the beach across the street was atypical. Very rocky and completely non existent at high tide
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. House is spacious and clean. We loved being able to have nightly fires and access to the hot tub. Big enough yard for kids to play. Beautiful views of the ocean. Nice neighborhood. The only issues we had were in regards to the local beaches. Parking is only permitted to beach permit holders and there is no option to pay to park and there is very limited parking nearby. Signs are not very visible and we received parking tickets for parking at the beach. Otherwise, the area and home are wonderful and would recommend staying here!
Needed a place to stay for a summer wedding at Barker’s Tavern and came across this place. Thought it was going to be a small beach cottage so I was thrilled that the rooms were so much bigger than I thought. The yard is enormous too! The pictures do not do it justice! Location was perfect for the wedding and beach access. Had a BBQ for 20 people and had more than enough room for games, food and activities. Would recommend this rental for anyone with a large family looking for a place to stay in Scituate. Truly paradise!
Overall, this was a quirky home in a beautiful place, near a quaint oceanfront town. The house was well stocked with more linens, kitchen supplies and appliances I have ever had in other rentals. My family and I enjoyed our stay there. The hot tub was a favorite place to gather. My only complaints were that the kitchen was generally not very clean, and that we would have used the kayaks and bikes, but couldn’t find them. Fred, the owner, was very responsive and helpful. The town of Scituate is about a mile away and easily walkable, with a handful of shops and restaurants. The lighthouse the town is famous for was also a short scenic walk away. The decks on the second floor and in the backyard had beautiful ocean views. Most bedrooms in the home also had ocean views. Original pine floors and original wood beams throughout the central home.

Great Getaway for family fun
We came all the way from singapore and booked this place for 14 people for our daughters Graduation in Boston.
The cottage was exactly as per the pictures. Quaint and well decorated with a lot of character by the way it was done up. Gave us all a feel of being in a beach town. The host came over and showed us around the way to the cottage.
Some of the things I felt that the host should have taken care were - Having the internet working. My husband had to do the handy work of putting together the wire which was broken.
The dishes were sticky and the pans were black. We had to run the entire lot through the dishwasher after our long flight before we could use it. And hand wash the bigger pans. Not something you want to do after a long flight.
The pantry and the kitchen drawers needed organisation and cleaning as it was very hard to look for basic essentials. And once located had to be scanned for cleanliness.
The towels and bedsheets were clean though.
The grass was over grown but we didn't mind it as we didn't use the ground around the house much.
I think we left the house cleaner than when we found it.
Our guests enjoyed using the hot bath in the garden and the camp fire on the grounds was a big hit with lots of guitar playing and family fun around it. The open layout of the kitchen invited a lot of gatherings after meal times and long chats in the living area.
Over all it was a good experience and the warmth of a sweet 100 year old cottage gave the right flavour that we wanted for our family together that came from all parts of the globe. I would highly recommend this place for a good family vacation.
