Didn't get to stay - POOR Communication
I reached out to the property owner due to an illness. Over several weeks, I tried reaching him. He never responded.
The day of our rental, I hadn't received information on how to access the apartment. Check in was at 4p. Around 7:30-8p I hadn't received any information. I emailed through the Vrbo system and got nothing - no response. I found a phone number and called. Got voicemail - left a message. A few minutes later "Peter" called me back. It was at this time I was informed the apartment wasn't available for use due to a plumbing issue. While I understand these things happen, NO communication had occurred and my family and I (8 of us) had no where to stay. I was so livid I couldn't talk to him and handed the phone off to my sister.
Ultimately, Peter offered another unit but it was not accessible and therefore didn't meet our needs. He offered a refund but as of today (August 10) - 11 days after the conversation, I have not yet received a refund.
This is totally unacceptable. Both his complete lack of communication up through and until the day of the rental. Not letting me know of the issue and that the unit I had paid for back in February wasn't available is just wrong!
