Great property. Very walkable to all restaurants and shops. Stayed in the Tarheel Suite. Its was clean and nicely decorated. Only complaint is below us woke us up in the morning with slamming doors and talking loud. Not sure if its a common area or maybe cleaning. Other than that its a nice place to stay and we will be back with our pup.

We have stayed at Hillwinds twice in recent weeks and really enjoy it. It is a restored motel convenient to Main Street in Blowing Rock. The staff is vey nice and the location is great. This has become our go-to in Blowing Rock.

Toilet runs every 5 min; need to replace plunger in tank as it constantly refills loudly 24/7. The fridge also runs very loudly; something wrong with it. Update thermostat it is 39 years old and hard to see and hold right temp.

The property is "old" and dated. The sinks in the bathroom do not drain properly. The room was not clean. The lighting is bad. I do not recommend staying at this property.

Room was not ready at check in. I had arrived at 3:30. The employee said it should be any minute and he would call me. We left the property ~ came back at 4:45 (and he had no clue who I was). I reminded him that I was expecting a call when my room was ready. His reply was it must have just gotten done. Not okay. No apology. It was cold and we were wandering around the town (had a dog so couldn’t go in to stores or restaurants).

What a sweet, cozy place to stay! Our weekend visiting App State was filled with windy snowy nights made lovelier by the warm ness of the room. Walkable to eat, drink and shop! Highly recommend!

Suite above the office was a romantic chic style with an oversized jacuzzi tub and a balcony. Comfortable bed just keep the door open between the rooms for optimal climate control. Front desk was helpful with 12pm checkout. Definitely would stay again!

The room was not adequately cleaned. There were dirty towels in the bathroom and personal hygiene items under the beds. We stayed 2 nights and on the second morning there was no hot water. The beds were clean and comfortable. A pleasant walk to Main Street of Blowing Rock.

The end is very close to all of the main attractions in town, and there is ample parking. It is right on the creek, which is beautiful. However the property is so outdated. Both beds in the rooms had very visible people dance, so I had to choose which of the two had, the lesser dents.

Very ordinary motel like rooms at a premium price. Not worth it. Plus, when my wife went to the office to get a light weight blanket - we don’t need a big heavy down quilt in the south in the summer - the clerk said he had none. Only after I went back to complain did he bother to actually look. And he found one.
