We rented the Fish Trap for a family getaway and loved it! Cute house, great location on the river, plenty of room to hang out, watch football and have family time. Everyone loved the hot tub, the fire pit was a hit, the guys fished and the grands enjoyed the bunk beds and the fenced in side yard. We have started planning for a longer return trip next year!
This property was wonderful!Everything was exactly as listed and the large yard was great for the family to enjoy being outside. The home was clean and the owner was very good with communication. The river was beautiful and was a great place to do some fly fishing. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
It was a great place to enjoy the sounds of the Toccoa River and the outdoor space lends itself to relaxing by the river. The house is wonderful - clean and amazingly well stocked. Definitely recommend this great “home away from home”.
Great piece of property. Right at the fish trap we saw from the train months ago. Everyone enjoyed the water, fishing and animals. Great place to bring in the new year
Another great stay at the Toccoa Fish Trap Escape! This was our 3rd time staying here and it was great as usual! We have had great times every time we’ve been here. The scenery is beautiful, especially in the fall time, the river is great, the weather is cool, and the location and house has everything we need. The house is perfect for two adult couples and one child with comfortable rooms, smart TV, WiFi, and fully equipped kitchen. Easy access to the river for trout fishing, nice fire pit, nice lawn with swing, corn hole, and now a brand new hot tub will keep us coming back. Also, the house is right next to the Blue Ridge scenic railway tracks, which is a treat to see twice a day and to wave at the passengers.
Great place to get away. Location on the river was awesome and very close to Mercier Orchard and Downtown Blueridge. My family really enjoyed the hot tub.
Very peaceful.
This place is amazing if you’re looking to get away! It felt like home. Waking up to the sounds of the river, birds chirping, our children laughing, to telling stories around the campfire and hot tub in the evening. We made so many new memories. Perfect location, perfect view!
Brian is an excellent host and the house was everything and more. It was too cold for outdoor activities but in better temperatures would be fabulous being close to the river. Will definitely book again. We also discovered the charming town of Mineral Bluff. Highly recommend this property.
This is my second stay at this home on the Toccoa River; once with sisters and this trip with my husband. It is quiet and appears to be a great place to fish. I saw fish jumping just downstream. Whether you're there for nature, sight-seeing, or fishing, it's a great little getaway.
We had a very wonderful and relaxing time. The property was great! Better than we expected. Lots of nice touches. We enjoyed listening to the river and the rain. Will definitely come back.
Not actually what I was expected but it was very nice. Enjoyed the fire pit area very much, spent a lot of time fishing and sitting around the fire. Would have been nice to have fire wood provided. Very comfortable inside nicely decorated. Everyone enjoyed the stay!
This property is centrally located to many small towns in GA that each offer something unique. We spent most of our time at our VRBO hanging out in the river and in the spa. We watched people fish and actually catch fish right from the back porch. If you're into fishing, bring a pole.
Fish Trap is a great place to get away and enjoy peace and quiet but also close enough to town to enjoy Blue Ridge and all its shops and restaurants. Brian the host is great. Quick to respond to any questions you might have. All you need to bring is your clothing and food. Anything you possible need is furnished. We have stayed here 2 times and will be coming back.
This place is amazing. Inside is very bright, clean and the view is just perfect. It had everything we needed to cook, the bathrooms were great, the bedrooms were beautifully decorated. Outside was just as amazing, porch, grill, hot tub, and train tracks on one side. It was so good to see the train pass by. Patio furniture on two sides and a swing in the back to enjoy the beautiful Toccoa River. We have been renting cabins for a long time but this place is definitely number "one" now!!
This was our second stay at Brian’s home. The location is right on the river and the home is well-equipped. We enjoyed using the fire pit and covered porch, and caught a lot of fish. The last time we stayed, we used the kayaks. Very relaxing area, and we enjoyed watching the Blue Ridge train go by and waving to the people on board. Brian is a very responsive host.
Property was just as listed. Has everything you need for a great stay. Enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night. Saw deer, geese, ducks, and even a bald eagle.
Great restaurants and shops in town. Brian our host was great at responding if we had questions. The gravel road going to the property might be a little iffy for some people but we didnt have any problems. Loved the drive. We will definitely stay here if we come back to this area.
The WiFi connection for our phones couldn't be made using either password supplied (one on PDF information document sent to me, or one listed on the sign inside the house). Couldn't do outgoing or receive incoming calls. The landline phone was not working either. We could only communicate by text. This was disconcerting. The Toccoa River view & sounds were great! The rooms were nicely decorated. We laughed when the Blue Ridge touring train went by practically in the back yard.
Loved it here! Everything was as described and the owner was responsive. We appreciated the detailed info provided such as kayak routes and dam release schedules. The best part for us was the outdoors. There was so much seating, and we utilized every bit of it. Mornings on the fishing deck, afternoons playing cornhole, evenings by the fire pit, dinners grilled on the beautiful side deck, nights in the hot tub.
The home is well decorated and had everything we needed and more. The boys enjoyed fishing while the girls opted for shopping in the nearby town. Blue Ridge Mountain Stables was a hit for everyone, horseback riding up the mountain with absolutely wonderful guides!
For all the reviews about cars vs trucks… I was happy to be in my truck. However, this property could definitely be accessed via car as well.
My family and I had a lovely time during Christmas at this lovely home. The home was equipped with everything you might need in the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and laundry. The river views are amazing and my daughter really enjoyed soaking in the hot tub as she faced the beautiful river view. Check in was very easy. The only thing that I must make you aware of is, if you are arriving at night there is a short path just before arriving at the home and at night it can be a bit confusing and intimidating since its a narrow dirt road surrounded by trees. Once you cross the railroad tracks the home is on the right. The GPS lead us to the home on the left. Once you are aware of this path, you immediately get use to it and it’s no big deal. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful and peaceful home.
Home was clean and cozy and loved the fire pit area and nice hot tub. The yard and proximity to river was great. Saw beautiful deer. But one important detail left from description - the road to access property. It is not for those with vehicles sitting close to ground. The gravel road is rough and the last half had new gravel which created a challenge when leaving the house in the loose gravel since it is all uphill. Best for Jeeps or 4-wheel drive but being experienced driver was able to navigate in my Lexus. Folks should be aware before leaving home so they are prepared. But it is worth the drive so folks should definitely visit this pretty location.
