Check the details
Warning- if you are booking this cabin because you are wanting to be near the river, this is not the place for you. Technically it is waterfront, but it is definitely a treacherous minimum 7 minute walk that is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for older people or younger children. Vacasa suggests using a nearby road to get down to the river, which we did, however, we were very disappointed as this is a very treacherous road and you could easily slip off the sides, even in a 4 x 4 with a very experienced driver. The property does have beautiful views. It was a very clean cabin that was well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. The property works if you’re not planning on spending time viewing or visiting the river and if you don’t need consistent wifi.

Father's Day Get Away
The cabin was as described, the trip was relaxing. It was a getaway for father's day for dad to get some relaxation and fishing in; when I booked the pictures online indicate it is a short walk to the river, unfortunately that is not the case, the path to the river is very, very steep and our group consisted of both older as well as young adults the steepness cause for concern regarding both groups; the branches over the deck where one fishes from is out grown which took several lures when trying to cast the line. I did take note of a previous visitor regarding the availability of towels and wash cloths, and reached out to the company whom did state just give them a call if more than one towel per person is not enough. Since we use a new towel each day, I just brought our own towels and wash cloths to equal fresh towels and wash cloths per person per day. We will no rebook this location, but that's us. Enjoy your stay..

Great experience
I booked this cabin as a weekend getaway with a couple friends. Very comfortable and great view. It has everything you needed however the walk down to the river is very steep and you will get tired. They do have a way you can go down by driving, I suggest you drive. It has a good spot for you to fish at. Would recommend

Beautiful views
Lots of amazing things about this property- The view from the screened in porch & how close it is to town. However, we were sad that it was so difficult to go to the river. I saw other views that mentioned it being steep and that feels like putting it lightly. it was farther and way steeper than expected and very overgrown so it didn’t feel safe to keep going and we only made it halfway down. Was hoping to

What a view....
The view is absolutely stunning. What's even better is the amazing porch to sit on to see it. We could just sit there for days and admire it. Cabin was very comfortable for our family, and we had everything we needed. Just take caution trying to take the trail to get down to the river...it can be dangerous. The cabin was very quiet and away from other cabins. We had a great stay.

Absolutely beautiful
Beautiful cabin and view took my family for suprise 50th for my wife and we had a fantastic time. Close to Blue Ridge also. At 55 and both hips replaced I wouldn't recommend walking down steps to river. Down not a problem up not so great, drive down way easier. Love our stay would do again!!

Amazing Cabin!
My family and I just got home from our vacation and our stay at Down by the River Cabin, and it was amazing! The view was perfect, little bit of everything. Very clean, cabin was as described. Beds were all comfortable. We did not utilize the small 2nd bedroom in the loft..just the master, and the 2 downstairs. One suggestion would be a fire-resistant mat for the fire pit. The fire pit sits on the side of the house in not a really large area close to the house and trees. We would have liked to of moved it to the front of the house but were skeptical if the fire would damage the asphalt driveway (which by the way we were very thankful for!). We opted to not use it and sit on the amazing porch, with the most incredible Adirondack gliders. The one disappointment for us was the river access. Although it is a path, it is an extremely steep and unsteady one. Down was a bit iffy, going back up was bad. If you are traveling with children, older adults, or just your average in shape person, and are looking for river access, this is not the one. It is very steep. With that being said, it was not a game changer for us. There are [plenty of locations that you can drive to that you can get river access to for fishing). Although a bit disappointed, it didn't change our experience with the cabin. It was perfect!

This place was pretty and comfortable. pretty view of the river and field and mountains. We saw some turkeys near the river chasing a great blue heron. Peaceful and quiet. The trail down to the river was pretty steep but the view was pretty.

Down by the river…not really
This house had an awesome view of the mountains, adequate accommodations, and a great location. However, the property manager was definitely not entirely truthful when it comes to the river. The trail down to the river was overgrown and way more difficult to walk than most people can handle. Definitely can’t take the trail with fishing gear. Furthermore the road to the dock is definitely not marked and very unclear as to how to get there. Honestly it appears that the owner really doesn’t want anyone down by the river but couldn’t pass up the “rentability” of the river. Other than that, I’ve stayed in better and far worse places.

Great Cabin
Cabin was beautiful, clean, well supplied and a great location. My only suggestion would be to not pick this cabin for the river access. It’s not really accessible and can hardly even see it from the cabin. But overall it is a beautiful cabin with a great porch for rocking and enjoying the views. We truly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time staying here. Everything was clean and well kept. Great location! Every activity we did was less than 20 min away, downtown is less than 10! The hike from the river is taxing, but we still enjoyed it!

Enjoyed stay but couple of things subtracted
I debated on whether three or four stars. The amazing view and the cleanliness made me go with 4. While we enjoyed the cabin we were so disappointed that we were not able to physically walk down to dock. The write up should be more forthright about the lack of accessibility of the dock unless younger or a hiker. We rented partially to be close to the water. We could see the water but not get to it. Also the master bedroom upstairs has the closet locked so we slept in a queen size bed instead of in king upstairs. No where to put clothes. Very clean and well stocked. Amazing view. Could use a table on screened porch or in gazebo. We would have enjoyed eating outside.

Perfect place . Our family will come again!
On 22nd-25 June 3 family with kids 2yo-11yo stayed and this cabin. We enjoyed the cabin was very clean and good care inside and out ( 1 thing I will suggest for safety of the kids to add rails on the screen porch) . Our men’s and boys went fishing but no catch . Beautiful view , fresh air quite just what you needed from busy Gwinnett!!! We will like to come again ❤️

Loved It...
We loved the view, the chairs on the back porch, the sheets (so soft), and sitting by the river (even though it is a rough trail). The cabin was just as it was described on the website and very cozy. Beds were comfortable and everything about it was very nice. Nothing bad to say about our stay. We will be back!

Watch Your Step
This is a nice cabin in a convenient location. We loved the screened-in porch and the view. It's very private and peaceful. There's lots of space and it's well equipped. The biggest downside to this place is the distance to the neat little fishing dock. The trail to the dock is steep, long, and treacherous! Getting there with fishing gear would be practically impossible. We had looked forward to fishing but making the trek once down just to check it out was a big challenge to our family (Mom, Dad & 2 teens). If you have family members that are young children, elderly, or have health problems they will not make it up and down the trail.

Wonderful Cabin
We are very happy with our stay here! The whole cabin was very clean when we got there and well stocked with everything we needed. Beautiful view from the back porch. Had fun walking down the trail from the cabin to the river, and loved seeing an otter. Was so fun to watch the deer come out into the wide open space next to the river. We only had one issue with an appliance but Vacasa customer service immediately took care of it. (Vacasa has the best customer service and cabins so we only stay in their cabins when we come to the mountains!!) We loved that the road to the cabin was not steep and narrow like a lot of other mountain cabins. Was only 10 min away from downtown. Master bed was so comfy! Kids had fun playing in the little loft room. Overall, very happy w cabin!
