My family and I enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and unique lakehouse. We found the home to be set up for maximum comfort. It was clean, well stocked with linens and towels, kitchen cookware and dinnerware, and even basic toiletries for us in the bathroom.
This was a relaxing vocation me and my family took together. The house is spacious and very interesting. I love how the house stayed exactly the way it was left. I enjoyed hearing the families background and how it stayed in the family. An amazing overall experience
It was close to Eagle Pointe but tucked away to make you feel like had left the rest of the world behind. Great location and worked wonderfully for our family. Even the 10 month old enjoyed exploring. Erin was great.
Had a really nice time being able to get out of the house and spend time with my friends and a place I felt very cozy and close to my own home. Vacationing sometimes can not be easy so it’s nice to have had our vacation go smoothly
Our family had a wonderful time for our Labor Day weekend. This house was wonderful, interesting, and welcoming. Everywhere you turn there are interesting places. Would highly recommend this home if you are wanting nature and quiet. We saw several deer. That’s for sharing your home with others
This property is beautiful and relaxing. Even the pictures online can't do full justice to the incredible scenery. We were all impressed with the setting, and the views from inside and out are nothing short of breathtaking. The house itself proved very comfortable for seven adults over a 3 day span. And I cannot sing enough praises about our host--she was kind-hearted and courteous. Even when we had a question about some lighting after 9pm, she got back to us within about 5 minutes. Absoultely above and beyond! It truly felt like we were guests in a cherished family home, and I would absolutely recommend this destination to any groups or families. I imagine it is especially beautiful in autumn.
My family—six adults, two children, baby on the way—take a short trip every year. We usually stay in one of the very nice cabins between Bloomington and Nashville, but wanted something closer to the lake.
There was a MAJOR issue with the cleaning service, but Erin, the property owner, was quick to respond and helped save our vacation from being ruined. And the cleaning service offered to come out while we were there to make up for it (we declined).
I’m rating it as 5 stars because the house itself was perfect and just what we needed. I’m rating the house alone, because giving this property a bad rating based on the cleaning company’s negligence wouldn’t be accurate.
Looking forward to staying again, but hoping the cleaning service is on their game next time!

Lake House surprise
1st time renting . Didn’t expect to have to clean my own towels or coffees pots etc… thought that’s what the cleaning fee was for. Having a late check in and early checkout is unfortunate. But the house is beautiful. There is no path to the lake but there is a beautiful view. And the host is very nice about helping and trying to make your stay as good as possible. Seemed like everyone needed to go to sleep at the same time because of the lack of insulation inside the house. Also the bathtub doesn’t drain properly and we had a huge water problem in the basement which had obviously happened before. In the end we paid a lot of money between parties( verbo, the home owner, cleaning etc..) for this place and being a 1st timer kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. But it is beautiful and the host was very kind and thoughtful she really did try to make thing’s as good as possible. There are lots of kitchen amenities, outdoor chairs and firewood. which I would have know about also.

Great for a group
The Hoosier Lake House accommodated us well for a long weekend with my husband, three grown kids & their spouses & two grandsons & one German Shepherd. We appreciated having enough bedrooms and the extra living space in the basement. The house is well-stocked with supplies and beds were comfortable; however, the lighting, especially in the kitchen is inadequate and only a lantern in the laundry room makes it difficult to use. The view from the main living room is great and we loved the quiet setting. We were disappointed to not have access to the "private beach," which was a main selling point for us when we booked the house. We expected the path to be an "expert hike" and not for kids (as the listing suggests), but we learned the day before our stay that it had not been cleared this summer and we didn't want to risk getting poison ivy. It also took almost 24 hours for the house (excluding the basement) to cool down to 70 degrees, which was not ideal. And the outdoor space was not exactly as pictured; although the Blackstone grill was nice. Would recommend renting a boat for the day from Four Winds - that was a great experience and Fairfax Beach was nice for an afternoon in the sun. Erin was very responsive, even when the power went out (due to a storm) in the early morning hours.
It’s rare to find a place that meets the needs of the entire family, but this place did just that. Grandparents felt right at home, kids had lots of room inside and out to roam and play, and wife and I enjoyed the decked out kitchen and peaceful views. Everyone enjoyed just how cozy and comfortable everything felt. We all felt like we could have stayed several extra days (it’d even be a great place to get snowed in!) Something about the Hoosier Lakehouse connects in a way like a second home would, and that’s rare indeed.
One perk that can’t be stressed enough, it really is in just the right spot. It’s only a short trip to get out to hiking in Hoosier National, fishing (their private dock or the lake), boating, or downtown Bloomington. The only thing we needed more of was time.
In short, if you want space, comfort, location and peace, then the Hoosier Lakehouse is for you. It’s clean, well managed, and the owners are great with communication, but really it’s an total package that can’t be beat!
