Didn’t work for us
We were two families with young kids. We enjoyed the ample house with many bedrooms, the toys for kids and the quite surroundings. We saw lots of deers which was really nice. Unfortunately, the wifi didn’t work at all for the whole stay. There was no phone connection in the area so we were left without communication and couldn’t plan our trips. The family was nice and tried to help with a map and travel guide books. However, it didn’t work for us. We really needed internet to use an app to plan our trips, get some work done, and play some movies for the kids. Furthermore, the dvd they provided didn’t work. They came and brought another one, which worked but without most colors. It wasn’t good. The house isn’t in great condition either - the back door didn’t lock well and often there wasn’t enough hot water in the shower. Kitchen also simple. But the bedrooms upstairs were lovely. Still worth it if you’re okay with not a fancy place, and looking for a quite and relaxed stay in nature. The owners tried to help. It was unfortunate with the wifi company.

Phenomenal
We have stayed at this location twice. Each time was fantastic the location is the best. This year they added a canopy tent over the picnic table. It rained twice and we were still able to enjoy the outside and the phenomenal View of the mountains. You could hear the creek bubbling in the background and when it was warm out they loved to cool off in the creek. All the essentials Plus different tablecloths for our 4th of July dinner were available. The house is huge. It was extremely comfortable and clean and welcoming there was even a piano in the living room. We all loved it and highly recommend. Eric responded quickly to any questions I may have had.

We’ll Be Back!
Eric’s lovely farmhouse was a perfect spot for my two teenagers and me. We look forward to returning with a bigger crew, a longer stay, and taking advantage of more of the plentiful bedrooms! The house was perfectly located for kayaking, fishing, and hiking trips to Lake Placid, Catamount Mountain, Lake Eaton, and Chapel Pond. Close to the property, we enjoyed stargazing, wading and hunting crayfish in the nearby creek, and taking a couple of runs along the quiet roads. The house is super clean, the linens were fresh and plentiful, the main bathroom spacious, and the kitchen’s cupboards and drawers stocked with good-quality essentials. We also took advantage of the gas grill for a couple of burger nights, and the washer/dryer works well and looks new. The WiFi also works well, so when it wasn’t boardgame night, Netflix came up fine on the TV, and the living room’s couches and chairs are super comfortable for lounging and being teenagers. Finally, Eric was a terrific and responsive host when I had a question or three. We really appreciated his family home’s wooden floors and furniture throughout, and liked its simple charm and lack of fussiness.

Great for IronMan Lake Placid + family vacay
We were in the Adirondacks for IronMan Lake Placid with the addition of a family vacation. Because of this vacation piece, we wanted to stay somewhere a bit more off the grid than Lake Placid. We were immediately drawn to the farm property, the quiet, the lack of cars, and access to the local towns. This property provided all of this. The property itself is beautiful. It’s a small valley nestled into the surrounding mountains so the views you get are awesome. The little trails around the acreage are sweet for an evening or morning stroll. Star gazing is awesome since you’re protected from ambient city light. The isolation is just enough— you’re far enough away to feel genuinely unplugged while still close enough to the nearby towns for access to amenities. The house itself is an historic farmhouse, so going into it with this expectation is key. It was comfortable for our family with a 12, 14, 17 year old and 2 grand parents. The upstairs bedrooms have tons of sleeping space, and the downstairs bedroom is great for a little extra privacy. Even though you’re off the grid, there’s still decent wifi and TV in order to enjoy an evening family movie. The kitchen was stocked well enough for us to cook a variety of regular meals and eat together every evening while enjoying the view through the large dining area window. There was no air conditioning, but this was not a problem because the open windows were great for a natural breeze and kept the house comfortable, even with the high near 90 degree temps of several of our days. There were fans for every room as well. Eric communicated well, and was receptive of my questions, comments, and needs. He even gave suggestions on food and fishing. Bonus— there’s a River about a 4 minute drive down the hill that is a beautiful fishing and chilling spot. My sons and I caught bass and trout here, one was a 20” large mouth! And, the roads are immaculate and wonderful for cycling.

Peaceful Farmhouse Stay
Our family and friends spent 10 days here mid-August, with kids from 3yrs to 14 yrs old. We enjoyed every day here - meadow walks to splash in the creek, walks up the hill to pick raspberries, games outside on the grass, evenings with stunning sunsets, campfires, and shooting stars. I don’t think I’d ever get tired of watching the clouds roll over the mountains or the mist settle in the hayfields. This has been a great and much needed holiday for all of us. House was spotlessly clean on arrival, plenty of space for everyone, and 30-40 minutes drive got us to various hiking trails, swimming lakes, or towns for shopping. Definitely a great place to spend a summer vacation!

The farm had everything we needed
This was our second time at the farm. We were there for Lacrosse Tournament. Family filled the house and couple of players tented on the lawn. The location seems remote but convient to high peaks hiking and Saranac Lake. I never tire of driving the Ausable river to Lake Placid. Catamount Mt is the best day hike in the Adks.

Family Get away
We really enjoyed staying in this family owned farm house. There was plenty of room for 9 of us and our 2 dogs. Everything was clean and well organized. We especially enjoyed the indoor wood stove and outdoor fire pit. About 30 min. Drive into Lake Placid, but we’ll worth it to be able to return the spacious farmhouse.

We absolutely loves staying at Eric’s charming home. So centrally locates so that we could do lots of things...space for everyone and cozy evenings playing cards. I highly recommend it. My only regret is that we didn’t discover it sooner!

Perfect Family Getaway in the Mountains
Our family enjoyed a week at the Arnold Family farm this summer. Most nights you could find us having made a delicious dinner and sitting under the stars by the outdoor fire. We embraced the no dishwasher situation by taking turns and involving kids in the clean-up! It was a great place to come home to after a day of adventure in the area and a wonderful experience to share, as a whole. The history of the farm and the family is rich and lots of care has been taken to ensure the house is renter-friendly and clean. Thanks for a great stay!

Canadian Thanksgiving stay
This property location is perfect - close to everything needed to enjoy Adirondack. The owner communication is perfect. The WiFi saved us as the cellphone coverage is poor. You need to like country housing as the building is quite old. Our group really enjoyed it as we are not too fancy. Some flies annoyed a little bit but we managed. Views and space around the building are hard to repeat.

What a wonderful and relaxing mini-vacation!
We loved staying at the farm. We stayed during the fourth of July weekend with both my family and my wife's family and had a blast. The house was extremely clean and spacious. It had a great yard where the kids were able to play and a very nice fireplace where we spent multiple nights telling stories under the stars. The farm is also very well located, close to Lake Placid and only 10 min from the entrance of the Whiteface Veterans' Memorial Highway. Would definitely recommend the farm to anyone and everyone. We can't wait to go back!

Outstanding family time
Outstanding! They took us as a last minute booking due to canceled plans because of Hurricane Florence. Beautiful old farmhouse with fantastic property. The kids loved the freedom to roam safely. Took advantage of the hiking trails, closeness to Lake Placid, and Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mt. just relaxing by fire was great too. Kudos to the Arnold family, their attention to details and what a family would need is spot on!!!! Will be staying there again😀

Charming old farmhouse
We loved the serenity of this property and the home was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for making meals and relaxing in the family room. Convenient for skiing at Whiteface - only 15 mins from the mountain. Eric was exceptionally communicative with his emails in regards to our arrival and sent someone over to turn on the lights for us since we were arriving after dark. We would definitely recommend this house to other families coming up here to ski or stay in the area.

Large old farmhouse with lots of rooms, clean, lots of utensils, towels, etc. If you like quiet.....this is it. Accessible to Wilmington/Saranac Lake/Lake Placid. Because we have rented many spots thruout the ADKS we hauled a bunch of stuff we didn't need.....night sky was gorgeous 2 nites of the week.....I wish we had known about this spot years ago we would have been repeat customers..... we will in the future...

Great home for a large family get away!
The Arnold Family Farmhouse was more than we expected. We stayed from December 25, 2016 - December 28, 2016. It was spacious ,very clean, well supplied kitchen and baths and everyone had a comfortable bed. Our grandchildren only had to go out the door to go sledding down into the field and then come in for hot chocolate! Eric was prompt and helpful in our planning and directions, even having us check in on Christmas afternoon! He also went out of his way to meet us after checkout with an item we had left behind. The family even blessed us with a dogsled ride for our 4 grandsons! Lots of fun and family memories were made during our visit to the Lake Placid area. Plenty of great places to eat in town. We would love to plan another visit in the Summer or Fall to go hiking and enjoy some quiet time by the fire pit. Thank you to the Arnold's for opening up their family home. I really want to let them know what a wonderful visit we had, but sort of want to keep the place a secret!

The grass is greener...at the Arnold Farmhouse
My entire family had a wonderful time. We were lucky and had the best weather during the last week of August. Every morning a few of us went on a hike and then laid on the grass in the afternoon. The toddlers ran around barefoot from wake up to bedtime. Sheets and towels were of 5 star hotel quality. I also want to add that we had a cousin who is wheelchair bound and we never had an issue. I can't say enough. -Lana
