TIPS
To travel and stroll around Lake Como, especially in the small towns, it is necessary to wear comfortable shoes. In the towns, there are many public fountains, and the water is drinkable unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable. You can bring your refillable bottle with you! From Blevio, there are many hiking opportunities in the nearby woods. If you are looking for an easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy the mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow trail that does not require much climbing. The Greenway passes through the towns from Colonno to Griante. From Blevio, it is possible to reach the starting point in Colonno by bus. Another pleasant and relaxing hiking trail in the area is the Via Verde, which connects Moltrasio to Laglio. In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close in the middle of the day, so be sure to plan your purchases accordingly. Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to immerse themselves in the water, however, there are some options. In Como city, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is mostly discouraged or prohibited. Locals and visitors also love to go to Nesso, where the bravest can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall. Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay particular attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!
