The Log Home at Lighthouse Hill Ranch - Pet & ATV friendly !! 2,001 Acre Ranch

"The Log Home" is totally secluded and it is the only house located on Lighthouse Hill Ranch South, which is a 361 acre tract of land located about 4 miles south of the main ranch (see our pictures for a map of the property). The home sits up on a hill where every room has a view and it is within walking distance of McCall Creek providing you a private area to swim, float in a tube and fish. You also have access to the swimming, tubing and fishing areas with limestone cliffs and crystal clear water (and rock bottoms) on the 6-8 acre Miller Creek lake system located on the main ranch of Lighthouse Hill Ranch.

"The Log Home" has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, a loft, a full kitchen, a washer/dryer, central air/heat and a great fire pit to sit and enjoy the stars. The house sleeps 6-11 people with the use of the 2 queen bean bed bags in the loft and the sofa in the living room (all linens are provided.)

The kitchen is furnished with coffeemaker (coffee, filters, creamer, sugar, Splenda), pots, pans, stove, refrigerator, microwave, glassware, dishes, silverware, linens, serving bowls, cooking utensils, misc. spices, knife block, toaster, paper towels, napkins, basic condiments in the fridge, and spices in the cabinet for cooking, etc.

The living area has leather furnishings where you can put your feet up and read a good book, watch DirectTV with movie channels, or head into town and rent a DVD to watch on the television. There is no telephone but there is an internet connection in the house if you really must stay in touch with those everyday hassles!

The front porch has beautiful views of the Hill Country and a fire pit with 'rocking' chairs that you can sit in an enjoy a great fire. There's plenty of wood out on the ranch - burn all you want! There is also a table and six chairs on the side porch that you can use to have a meal outside. In addition, we also have a charcoal Weber grill for outdoor cooking (charcoal provided).

If you wish to bring your dog or your horse we have accommodations for them as well. The back deck is fenced and can be used to contain your dog. We ask that you keep them off the furniture and beds and you are required to bring a crate to house them in when you are away from the house ($30 per night per pet stay fee - to be added to your quote after you book). For horses, we have a pipe fenced paddock directly behind the Red House with water & feed troughs as well as a run-in and tack area to keep your tack and feed dry (please note that you will need to rent the Red House as well to bring horses).

Lighthouse Hill Ranch is situated in the beautiful Texas Hill Country on 2,001 acres. With this much land it is your own private park to enjoy (see pictures for a map of the property). The ranch consists of rolling hills, incredible 50 mile views, and has one of the highest point in Blanco County. Enjoy the abundance of wildlife on the ranch from cattle, bird watching, deer, turkey, coyotes, armadillos, jackrabbits, doves and variety of other animals.

Rental of any of our houses or suites provides you access to the entire ranch (both tracts), which has numerous springs, over 4,000 feet of clear rock-bottom creek to swim and tube in (and including a unique creekside hot tub and waterfall grotto), 8 ponds to fish, a seasonal waterfall and miles of trails for riding your own ATV and bikes, hiking or riding your own horse.

In addition, we have five other homes on the ranch available for rental (no two houses are within 1/2 mile of each other) as well as 4 suites at the Arc de Texas. You can find them listed here on Vrbo, simply search Lighthouse Hill Ranch and you can see our 9 other rentals.

We look forward to having you at Lighthouse Hill Ranch!

Wonderful ranch and house
Great place to stay in the Hill Country. Beautiful vistas from a very comfortable, well equipped house. Recommended. One thing to pay attention to if you have a large group--which we didn't for our stay: the VRBO listing says the house sleeps 11. Perhaps the owners make adjustments based on how many are coming, but we could not see how the house could handle more than 6 in beds with perhaps 1 on the non-foldout couch. We had 6 and so were all very comfortable.

Truly Breathtaking Getaway
I booked this stay for me and my wifes 15th anniversary. If you're looking to find somewhere beautiful and private, this is a homerun!!! The house was cleaned spotless when we arrived, and had a notebook suggesting some of the amenities they have available, the house itself is atop of a large hill overlooking a creek in a valley, there is plenty of supplies for dressing up meals, and for a lazy day with the family there is a tv with DirecTV in every room and a dvd player in the living room. Still we chose to sit outside on the covered porch with a glass of champagne listening to the turkeys and take in the nature that God created and these lovely people provided. Kathy was more than happy to help with getting some flowers to the house to surprise my wife before or arrival, and she was always very quick to respond to any comments or requests. Even though this area has been in a drought for the past couple years, this ranch even has a private section of Creek that is not only dammed off with a spillway, but also has an elevated hot tub on the bank to take in the views and relax. We didn't fish, but we definitely saw some below one of the waterfalls. The things we didn't like were very minor. I'm super picky about my mattress and this one wasn't great (had worse at hotels), if we didn't have a truck we would not have gone all the way to the creek jacuzzi due to the road conditions, and it's about 30 minutes from everywhere. Still, we couldn't have dreamed of a better place!

Fantastic views! Charming log cabin! Very private! Wonderful sunsets!
This sweet cozy property was the perfect place to make family memories! We cooked in the kitchen and explored the property! We loved the Miller Creek spa and the beautiful pool at the Arc. We saw lots of deer and cows in the pasture. The two mile road is rough if you don’t have a Jeep or SUV but so worth the views. Internet is on point. Everything you need for a wonderful time. Bring your sporty truck for the rough road. No sports cars or low carriages.Lots of rocky terrain! For the adventurous! You will be blown away by the views! Gorgeous!!!!!

Beautiful ranch, but amenities were lacking for price
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the log cabin! It is beautiful and very relaxing. However, we were very surprised at the condition of the ranch roads, which were completely washed out to the stream side hot tub. We were shocked that we were unable to access the bathrooms at the pool. I'm not sure why they are locked when you must have a gate code to even drive up to the Arc and pool. Where is a child supposed to go to the bathroom?! And finally, the wine tasting was not available as advertised. Although we had a wonderful time, relaxing with family and enjoying the beauty of the ranch, this was definitely overpriced with the additional fees and lack of amenities.

We had a wonderful stay. The views were awesome and the house perfect for the six of us. We also brought our dog and the fenced yard was a blessing. The kids loved watching the cows !! The 2 mile dirt road from the main gate to the property was the only challenge. We were concerned because it rained, but we got in and out ok.

Gorgeous property, but buyer beware!
The Log Cabin home had beautiful, secluded Hill Country views and was far enough away from roads where you couldn't hear any traffic - only the mooing of numerous cows on the property. The covered porch and fire pit was perfect for relaxing and eating meals. House was clean and had everything we needed. Everything was as advertised with some exceptions/nuances that people should be aware of. The directions to the front gate off of Highway 281 were very wordy and confusing. In retrospect, they make sense, but it should be clarified that the entrance is right there off 281 (mile markers didn't help, and we had to call for directions). Google maps doesn't help you. The address pin implies the property is a good distance away from 281, but this is because there is a long rocky/bumpy dirt (muddy when it rains) road leading up to the cabin. Those with small economy cars (or those low to the ground) should be aware of this because it does give your vehicle's suspension a workout and could damage your undercarriage. Also, the creek on the south property (Log Cabin is the only rental house located there) was dried up, so there was no swimming to be had on that side and no waterfall to be seen. Hiking with kids wasn't a pleasant experience because you're basically surrounded by cow manure everywhere you go. People thinking about renting the Log Cabin should be aware that if you want to swim or enjoy the hot tubs, you need to drive all the way back out to 281 and then ~4 miles north to the north property. The Arc de Texas on the north property had a nice pool and hot tub (with wine bar above) which was available to us, but the hot tub took much longer than the advertised 2 min. to heat up. Seemed more like 30-45 min. If we had to do it again, we might lean towards the Brown House (also on north property) which was located within walking distance of another hot tub (heated up much faster), co-located with the man-made waterfall and the fishing area which had beautiful boulders to climb on; however, the views from the Brown House aren't as nice, and you're closer to the road, so it's a trade off. Also, as others have noted, you are required to do some cleaning prior to leaving which is absurd to me since you're already paying a large cleaning fee. Overall, we had a great time on this amazing property. I just wanted to pass along our experience, so those captivated by the photos know what they're actually getting.

Wonderful Stay
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the log cabin. It is a beautiful property. I look forward to a return visit that is more restful. We were there for a wedding and the cabin made a beautiful place for the bride and her attendants to get dressed. I also hosted a luncheon and the kitchen and dining area were again, beautiful for the setup. If I were to find any fault...and this is just picky...three things: 1) While I understand the desire to keep the area natural - the drive up to the cabin is hazardous. We had two cars sustain damage. And yes, they warn you. Even so - at the price point of the cabin, I normally wouldn't expect to have to pay for a damaged vehicle. 2) Several of us found the directions to be hard to follow. Maybe include a version for those of us who only need the "big" information - not an every tenth of a mile summary :) 3) Again for the price point plus an extra cleaning charge, having to make sure the cabin is cleaned before you leave or incurring additional charges doesn't seem fair. All that said, I really do want to make a return visit. This time I will rent a vehicle with lots of clearance from the road!

The pluses: This rental is a very nice log house with an outstanding view of the area. The night sky is amazing. The manager is very responsive and willing to go out of the way to make your stay enjoyable. The negatives: The pool is located about six miles from the house. The house capacity is described as 11, but has only enough beds for 6. The bean bag “beds” might accommodate young children comfortably, bringing the occupancy to 8. The rental rate was confusing. I read in the rental agreement where it states that there is an extra fee for having extra people to an “event.” I somehow missed that the rental rate is based on two person occupancy like motels and each overnight guest is $20 a piece, plus extra taxes for each guest. A night light would be helpful in the bathrooms.

Perfect for Rest and Relaxation!
We spent four days at the Log Home over 4th of July weekend for a few days of peace before work started up again. The home was beautiful and the views were amazing. We were able to see the sun rise and set each morning and saw deer, cows, hummingbirds, and more from our perch on the hill top. There were only four of us but the house could easily fit more people. The road leading to the house is a little rough and rocky so be sure to go slow and try to drive it in daylight hours unless you have a car with four wheel drive. Make sure you make the short trip to the Arc de Texas on the north section of the property. The pool is small but still great and the wine and views are excellent. All in all the home and the trip exceeded our expectations and we hated to leave when it was over!

Beautiful cabin perched atop a hill that offers gorgeous views and quiet relaxation
We just left the log cabin and wish we would have stayed for several more days. Loved it all. The cabin has everything you need for your stay and the patios offer a break from the wind and spectacular views. We took the kids hiking and biking around the acreage and they loved it! All the flowing water and wildlife keeps everyone entertained and the clear skies and starry nights are perfect by the firepit. It is so relaxing and being off the grid is a great way to unwind and seriously relax. Cannot recommend this place enough! We had 4 adults 4 kids (ages 4-7) and we fit perfectly.

Amazing views
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Log Cabin. House had everything needed for our vacation. The fenced in area was great, but we have small dogs and 1 figured out he could squeeze out. Due to Texas not getting a lot of rain none of the ponds had water so that was a disappointment. We enjoyed running our UTV around and exploring. We are already discussing our next trip back.
