A memorable stay awaits you at this beautiful mountain-side farm. The Wandering Goat Lodge located on Big Cedars Farm currently offers a 17,400 sq ft PRIVATE access lower apartment featuring stunning views, a relaxing retreat and farm adventures abound.

Located 5 miles from Blacksburg, Virginia and 11 miles from Christiansburg Aquatic Center... Ellett Valley is a quaint, rural "Sunday-Drive" destination outside of town with generations of Farm-living, historic homesteads, stunning views and close access to the Appalachian Trail iconic hikes-- all in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We are near the town of Blacksburg -- but just far enough to decompress and embrace breath-taking natural beauty. Seasonally & daily we encourage you to visit and take a walk, pet the animals and immerse yourself within the property's quiet spaces. This is a predominately family-owned valley and our farm is no exception. With a deep heritage of looking out for one another, it will probably be one of the safest places you ever stay -- and definitely one of the most beautiful.

Located along Mossy Spring Creek and overlooking Paris Mountain, The Wandering Goat Lodge at Big Cedars Farm is just 10 minutes from downtown Blacksburg & VA TECH Campus.

The WGL space sleeps 6 people and can accommodate more upon request. Bring your dogs and we even have a pen for them outside if you like. IF you have more guests, try our RETRO camper --the ROAM Inn- as an additional booking. We are told our farm is the perfect spot to be "near town" yet embrace all of nature and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. In the summer, young and old alike will enjoy the creek and in the cooler months, you can cozy up to our amazing bonfire--which offers a perfect backdrop for some memorable family photos. Try it, we believe you will love it and want to return.

Just Wonderful!
We stayed here for VT graduation and could not have picked a better place. The lodge is wonderful- clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The view outside is gorgeous and there is so much to do. Our kids loved playing frisbee and feeding the goats and donkeys. Our grad loved the Hokie decor, and the grandparents loved the beauty, peace, and quiet. We are already makign plans to come back.

We had a great stay at WGL! Everything you need is available at WGL, kitchen supplies, towels extra blankets and goats! Warren is an excellent host, available for anything you need and ready with ideas for activities on the farm or around the area. Super easy to get to Tech! And every other location in Blacksburg/Christiansburg. 100% will stay here again!

We LOVED our stay!
We met family at the Wandering Goat Lodge. We had so much fun! The kids 2 three year olds and a 5 year old had a blast. We got to feed the goats and play in the creek. My kids were very sad when it was time to go home.

Very unique stay in Blacksburg
Here’s your chance to wake up with a Mountain View, sleep in a cozy bed, and feed goats in the morning. The basement of the owners house is a modern, two bedroom space that opens up.to a gorgeous view. It is quiet, comfortable, and the beds are extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Such a nice place to stay. We were immediately greeted by the sweetest black lab, Maggie and We thoroughly enjoyed feeding the goats and donkeys. We also utilized the fire pit and seating area. The owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Would 100% stay again!

Wandering Goat Lodge
We had a wonderful time. So much more special than just a usual home; the mountain view was why we booked it, with the goats and donkeys, for us, being just a nice afterthought, but the host had so many activity options available related to the scenery and animals we ended up never wanting to leave the property for other activities. Host and staff were friendly and so helpful. We hope to return and bring our young grandchildren.

Most Beautiful View
The view was breathtaking. Totally peaceful and serene sitting outside listening to the flowing stream. The animals are worth the stay. The goats, donkeys and deer are iust precious. The apartment was very well done. We enjoyed it very much. We only wish we bought a t shirt!!

Wonderful Memories!
Stayed while moving son into Tech. Warren, Sylvia and all the critters were wonderful. Our time there allowed us to catch our breath and take a pause before moving day, making memories we’ll always cherish! Their location is so beautiful! The absolute best place we’ve stayed in all of our years using VRBO. Can’t recommend highly enough! We even bought t-shirts!

Nice mountain retreat.
Easy process to check in and the place was nicely decorated. Very comfortable and relaxing. Nice property with the creek running down the mountain. Very close to Va Tech but far enough to be nice and quiet. Some people complain about the road to property but just take it slow. I wouldn’t bring a Ferrari up there but it was fine. Would stay there again for sure.

A fabulous, clean, cozy farmhouse. We enjoyed feeding the goats and donkeys. There were any number of restaurants in the cute town. Va Tech has grown so much. The sky was so clear we were able to see satellites and stars in abundance. During the rainy day we visited Dixie caverns, lovely. We want to come back in the Fall for Autumn colors because the views of the mountains are spectacular. Communication with Warren was great.

Textbook Perfect Retreat
I cannot say enough about our stay. Everything was better than imagined. We had a couple outings scheduled during our stay but ended up cancelling one just to hang at the lodge more! The house was clean, comfortable, and kid/pet friendly. The views were amazing..we enjoyed drinking coffee outside our bedroom in the morning and s’mores by a gorgeous bonfire at night. The creek was incredible - small wading areas for our littles and big rocks to slide and climb for our big kids. The hosts were so kind and friendly and we truly felt welcome. We had a blast with the animals and have already talked about when we will go back! 10/10 recommend 🙌

Our family stayed for 4 nights. We have someone in a wheelchair which often makes travel more challenging. Warren made sure that we had easy access into the apartment. The inside was laid out well for our needs. We enjoyed the access to animals, and the cute little beach. We also had fun renting the UTV for little trips around the area and accessibility support. The owner was around to help meet our needs but never intrusive. Beautiful view and very safe environment. We would for sure come back again.

Wonderful
We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The space was plenty for 3 adults and 1 child and our 2 dogs. It was very well stocked with kitchen essentials and toiletries. The beds were comfortable (with beautiful views) and the kids toys and games were a welcome surprise! The location is fantastic and so convenient to town (although we didn’t really need to venture out much because we enjoyed the amenities of the property so much!). The animals are extremely friendly and the creek/beach is such a great area for kids! We brought a critter net, magnifying glass, and packable hammock. Our child was in heaven! The whole farm was truly a magical place for a 5 year old. Tears in his eyes as we were saying goodbye to the smallest goat this morning! We will certainly return 🐐 😃

Truly a gem of a stay!
The stay at Wandering Goat Lodge was even better than imagined. Yes, the listing is thoroughly accurate, but it cannot do justice to the actual experience and accommodations. The rooms were clean, large, and nicely appointed. It was a comfortable stay from start to finish. One thing that stood out was the pullout couch and the addition of the extra mattress for supreme comfort. My son said it was super comfortable and unlike any other pullout couch he ever slept on! During the stay, the power went out in the county and surrounding areas. Warren was strongly committed to making sure that we were informed and comfortable. In fact, he offered to book a hotel room nearby if we wanted. We declined his generous offer, and he then provided us with snacks, games, candles, water, and a cooler for our convenience. Luckily, the power returned by 10pm, and all was well. However, Warren’s gracious response to Mother Nature’s hiccup was not forgotten. As for the property itself, the goats and donkeys were a joy to interact with and there was plenty of food provided with which to feed them. We took a number of pictures to document our fond memories. I found myself wishing that I had known about the WGL when my kids were younger(they are college students), as it would have been even that much more magical. I highly recommend booking a stay here, as you will not be disappointed.

Great Property
We had a wonderful time. The location was great for the VT football game. The cottage was clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the goats, donkeys and especially meeting Maggie. We will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. We look forward to another visit.

Excellent spot for your mountain fix
This vaction rental is located in a somewhat remote but beautiful location just north of Blacksburg, VA. It is a single level ground floor unit that is attached to the host's house. Guests enjoy a spacious indoor space as well as a lovely outdoor patio overlooking a working farm and stunning scenery. We could see that it would make a great spot for Tech fans to watch and celebrate games on the tv. The host is welcoming and has done an excellent job of meeting his guests' needs with a spotless, comfortable space inside as well as access to multiple activities on the farm. While these may cost a little, they seem like a fun way to expand a vacation. So if you're in need of the fresh air and beauty of a mountain town or you just visiting Blacksburg for another reason we would certainly recommend this comfy spot.
