Creekside camping in 20 ft camper

Enjoy a stay in a 20 foot camper nestled along a 900 foot creek on our 5 acre, forested property. 40 minutes southeast of Asheville. 11 miles south of Black Mountain. Your GPS will guide you along paved roads right to the top of our driveway. Parking next to the camper.

Your camper has a flush toilet, kitchen, etc. but you might prefer to use the indoor bathhouse, just 150 feet away, for longer showers. This is private property and not a commercial campground. Picnic table and stone fire pit 40 feet away with all the free wood you can gather. Relax at the campfire. Sleeps 2 adults on the queen bed and one child or smaller adult on the bunk.

We love dogs. One well-behaved dog is welcome but it must get along with other dogs. We have a large, sweet, playful male that often romps unleashed. His job is to
protect the property and keep away unwanted wild animals. Your dog is welcome to be off leash to play and explore under your supervision.

600 feet up the trail from your site is the summit of our property. You may get cell service for AT&T, US Cellular, Xfinity and probably others but not T-Mobile.
Plenty of hiking nearby and starry skies and lightning bugs at night.

Camping Intro for the kids
Great way to intro little ones to camping, ours are 7 and 9. They had a great time playing and enjoying the site. We practiced setting up the tent but slept in the camper because they are not ready for sleeping outside yet. We loved it!! Will come back 😊

Highly recommend!
This place was perfect for us. It's a little off the beaten path, but we like that. Mark was very accommodating and available, if needed. My wife and I enjoy camping, but we don't enjoy all the work that usually comes with camping. With this place, you can just enjoy the camping experience and not worry about the extra work. I highly recommend it.

Relaxing Unplugged Weekend
Mark and Susan were awesome hosts! We enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the creek right behind the camper and sitting by the fire in the evenings. Everything was as advertised and we didn't need anything.

Location was closer to property owners than we expected but was overall nice and quiet. Camper was smaller than it looked in the pictures but was fine for just us two.

4-wheel drive vehicles only
It had been raining most of the day and when we arrived, the hosts came out to our vehicle holding an umbrella. We talked about getting to the camper. You would have to drive down a 45-degree incline driveway, which is not well maintained, We were in a van. They wanted us to park and hike several hundred feet through the mud to the camper. We could not drive to the camper due to the muddy road conditions. The host stated he could not even get his truck back there. Totally, unacceptable. We are in our 70s. Who wants to drag their suitcases, food, etc. through mud? The host stated he thought there was a way for us to receive a refund which we later found out there is due to weather conditions. His tune changed through later correspondence. This place probably has some nice features during good weather. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to see them. We suggest this site come with a warning of site inaccessibility during certain weather conditions. If you book this camper, you should know you will need a four-wheel drive vehicle since you cannot know if it will be inclement weather when you arrive.

Relaxing
Secluded property close to hiking and tourist attractions. Enjoyed friendly dog visits. Susan and Mark were great, enjoyed our visits. RV was clean and comfortable. We loved listening to the trickling of the creek, soothed us right to sleep every night. Campfires were great with few bugs. Thank you for a ‘hidden’ gem in the woods.

Better than expected
If you have never stayed in a camper then this review might not be for you, but the camper was exactly as stated. Its not super fancy, but who is really going to be spending that much time in the camper in the beautiful Appalachian mountains. The camper was great for sleeping and storing our left overs and a/c got cold. We used the "clubhouse" for showering and was perfect since if you have never stayed in a camper before you don't get much hot water and you can fill the grey water tank up quickly. What really impressed me is what they are doing with their property! The big area around us had the lovely creek going through as well as they had a fire pit and hammock set up with plenty of shade covering. They are definitely still improving more space up the hill/ trail and I cant wait to see how it turns out in the coming years. I have a 2021 Honda CRV and was a perfect fit to go up the trail to the camper. Anything much larger I wouldn't recommend. Only downside was when we had first gotten there it had downpour and the driveway up the little hill was muddy and slick and my CRV tires were slipping in the mud but managed to get it up and we didn't have another issue after. The hosts were great and Draco, their dog, was just fabulous and sweet as a button. He was arguably the top favorite thing from the stay. The Camper is almost directly between Black Mountain and Lake Lure (chimney rock). Perfect location to go between the 2 with not a terribly long drive either way.

Amazing experience
For my first time staying in a camper I was nervous about it but they made our stay worth while . With a short ride to the city and Asheville being so close there were plenty of things to do . We went hiking in Montreat which I HIGHLY suggest you check out, and spent our evenings in Asheville. Would definitely come back !

It is only good if you are accustomed to camping. Fortunately, it was not raining when we were there. Had it been raining, it would be very muddy and inaccessible for a regular vehicle. Also, water in camper is not drinkable. Have to buy bottled water.

beautiful wooded get away
Nice little trailer in woods next to creek. Delightful property hosts were friendly, had very nice dogs and even took the time to see if we were doing OK or needed anything. Really enjoyable comfortable weekend! We loved it - built a fire under a very dark sky, enjoyed the colorful fall leaves, and the little creek beside us. We went into the town of Bear Mountain - busy, lots of activities and interesting stores. Very walkable, tons of restaurants and very family oriented. We had so much fun. Thank you !

Peaceful
Our family of 3 and our 2 dogs really enjoyed our time staying in the camper. Mark,Sue and Nikki their dog are very laid back and a joy to be around. We enjoyed the lil hike they took us on to see a beautiful waterfall and the bonfire they had and invited us to was awesome. When back at the camper we enjoyed the talks we had and the area they have to walk our pets and its so peaceful. We highly recommend choosing them as your host for your next get away. Until next time The Gibson
