Leave the buzz of the city behind and enjoy a retreat at this cozy, rustic cabin, nestled into a quiet, wooded lot with views of nearby Golden Gate State Park's mountains. The neighborhood is a very quaint and quiet mountain neighborhood where each house sits on at least an acre lot with dirt roads that are maintained and plowed by the county. The backyard feels very private even though there are houses fairly close by because of the layout of the trees and a privacy fence. The cabin is at 9000 feet elevation and is always cooler than Denver and Boulder, and the mountain winds can blow in rain, snow and rainbows.
The neighborhood landmark is a gas station and convenience store called Taggarts or Hi Market, which is close enough to be convenient, but far enough away to feel quiet and secluded at the cabin. There is a restaurant/bar 4 miles away, a holistic market 2 miles away, and a brewery & coffee shop 7 miles away. Rollinsville is 6.5 miles away and is a quaint town with a coffee shop, brewery, distillery and pizza restaurant. The fun and funky town of Nederland is 11 miles away, with many restaurants, breweries and shops. Historic Black Hawk and Central City’s casinos and picturesque Victorian buildings are 9 miles away. There are dozens of fabulous hiking, biking, and snowshoeing trails nearby, Eldora ski resort is 15 miles away, and you might even be able to catch some live music in Nederland. But you can easily leave it all behind and unplug and relax in the cozy eco-cabin.
Four wheel drive vehicles with good tires are required by the county from October to May due to weather, especially snow and ice. This is for your safety as well as for the safety of the neighbors as the roads are dirt and can be very slippery.
Escape to our enchanting vacation rental, nestled in a serene location at 9,000 feet. Weather can be unpredictable at this elevation. Be prepared with layers, weather-proof shoes and Tylenol. There is no AC in the cabin, so please keep the windows open and the fans running!
Rest assured, we provide snow plowing for accumulations over 6 inches, ensuring easy access to the cabin. While the occasional snowfall may require some light shoveling, we have a plow and shovel service to assist you if you need more help.
Winter is amazing here with our hot tub and cozy wood-burning stove, creating a tranquil, warm atmosphere. Please use these amenities responsibly, keeping in mind that the outdoor area can become slippery when wet. For the safety of our younger guests, the hot tub is not suitable for children under 8, and children under 16 should be supervised by an adult. We have taken extra precautions by providing child safety gates around the fireplace, ensuring the well-being of your loved ones.
Nature enthusiasts may encounter wildlife such as moose, bears, or mountain lions on our property. Admire them from a safe distance, and if you encounter them upon arrival, simply remain in your vehicle until they depart. We recommend not leaving food in your car, as bears have been known to break into cars.
Please note that we have limited availability for early check-ins or late check-outs due to our dedicated cleaning team managing multiple vacation rentals. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide a clean and welcoming environment for every guest.
