Looking out onto graffiti on the walls.
Shocked to the core. Horrendous noise levels, banging, screaming and swearing most of night. Chewing gum on skirting board, bath grimey, grout pink with scum, toilet seat chipped, tv had no remote to switch it on. One light bulb and 4 lamps! Just dirty and grotty. Stank of cigarettes as guests in next room had covered smoke alarm. Looks like others had been smoking joints as there were butts everywhere. Noisy youths hanging around and making us feel intimidated. Nice clean sheets and towels, good breakfast selection, staff friendly.

Shocking
Don't stay here, filthy hotel that should be closed down, no point in going into details as I think that sums it up, only positive was polite staff, I admire there ability to turn up for work as there days must consist of one complaint after the other. Can't comment on the food as I didn't have the stomach to eat after seeing the rooms.

Not For Business Stays
I will not be going back. The hotel looks ok from the outside but internally it's not good at all. The rooms totally stink of cigarette smoke and there is alot of young party goers having fun till the early hours of the morning. Definatley not for business stays.

Better than expected!
I was surprised to even book this hotel after some of the other pretty damning reviews, however I'm glad I did! I had no issues with poor cleanliness, had a nice welcome from the lad on reception and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room I had. The bed was comfy. I liked the little separate dressing area. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. The car park seemed to be fine and has a camera on it. Very handy to be across the road from a train station. Only one down-side and that was being woken by the noise from lorries going past in the morning but then again, it is a main road. So, from my experience, it was worth giving this hotel a try. I would use it again if in that area.

The Birmingham Hotel - Cheap and cheerful
This hotel proves that you get what you pay for. My boyfriend and i stayed there for 2 nights and were quite disappointed to be honest. Firstly let me say the staff were lovely and really helpful - especially the guy with the afro. Now onto the bad bits. The bar served coke out of a 2L bottle and it was totally flat and disgusting! God knows how long it had been lying there. I tried the diet coke the 2nd day and it tasted of carbonated water. The room had a few flaws. Firstly the room itself was freezing with only a thin duvet and 1 thin pillow each. The tv did not work at all - wouldnt even turn on! Only half of the lights in the room worked & there was a HUGE hole surrounding the light switch on the ceiling. You could see right through to the second floor (creepy). The knob which holds back the curtains when opened fell off the wall when we went to open the curtains. The water in the sink in the bathroom was absolutely disgusting! It was cloudy white and really really put me off to the point where i refused to brush my teeth in that sink. On the last day I decided to use the toilet in the downstairs reception area before leaving and they were horrendous!! There wasnt one clean toilet to use in the ladies, nevermind a toilet that had actually been flushed. There was sick all over the floor obviously from somebody the night before (it was now 2pm). The location of the hotel was handy enough, however if you're going for a weekend break i wouldnt recommend this hotel if you're hoping to spend your time in the town. The train station is just across the road, opposite the hotel, however on the Saturday evening and all day Sunday there were no trains to be seen! A taxi is approximately £10 one way. Overall the hotel is cheap and cheerful, cant say i would want to stay in it again but if you are just looking for somewhere cheap and very basic then this is the hotel for you. I ended up missing my flight on the Sunday and stayed in an Ibis hotel for a lot cheaper than this hotel and it was amazing!!! Hope this helps guys!

Pleasant Stay
I stayed 1 night, the service was efficient the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal, adjacent to train station and 1 stop away from the centre of the city. Be aware trains do NOT stop at this station on a Sunday!!!! Room and facilities perfectly adequate. Would stay again.

don't stay here!!!!!!!
this is a rubbish hotel..it is next to the railway staion but nothing else...the outside is scruffy..and the inside not much better..we were told that it is in the red light district..judging from the sounds coming from a hotel room near ours, who knows!!!!. The staff are not very helpful and there is absolutely no atmosphere. It is very much dated and facilites they advertise on line are not available. Go somewhere else...thats my advice

Airy spacious room next to Small Heath Station, very clean and pleasant. However; rooms facing the road are incredibly noisy from road traffic, there was no hot water in the morning, smoking room requested but not given, nor even mentioned.

very shabby & not at all worthy of 3 stars. although reasonably clean the bed was past its prime & was extremely uncomfortable. reception was little more than here is the key card to your room & then left us to get on with it. room was by a very busy road with no double glazing so traffic noise could be heard constantly.

Birmingham (Days Inn) Hotel, Birmingham, UK
The best part of my stay was the English breakfast--a large plate with eggs, tomato, mushrooms, sausage, ham, hash browns. Also included available was a continental breakfast buffet. The room was comfortable yet a bit worn--not a problem for me. The hotel staff was very polite and responsive. Parking is ample but if you depended on public transport, a cab was the best choice and was reasonable. Parts of the hotel exterior was boarded up. Some of the surrounding neighborhoods were polluted with trash on the streets yet others were fine. Plenty of neighborhood pubs that were friendly. I would stay here again yet could have gotten much better rate dealing directly with the hotel. Overall the stay was good.

Not Recomended
Taxi to Mew Street £8. Taxi to NEC £15. Room was reasonable size. Rasdiators in the room were on full blast which essentially made it like a sauna even with the window open. I asked 3 times at reception for the radiators to be turned down / off with no sucess. a noise like a foghorn happened everytime you flushed the toilet. Staff appeared disinterested / fed up. I have never written a hotel review before but my bad experience here led me to do so. Plus poinr - it was cheap and one of the few hotels available at the last minute.

Basic hotel
This hotel is one train stop to Moore Street where you can then go walking to the town. Train is expensive so be careful when you travel, there are pick and off pick times and the price of the ticket gets 1-2 pound cheaper. It makes difference if you planning to stay for a while. Hotel room is clean but it could use renovation. How much you pay that much you get. Solid hotel for cheep price.

very impressed and I can't wait to go back.
I was really satisfied with my stay at this hotel spacially the hotel personell. They were very polite and helpful, and the hotel rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel's location was very good, as it is close to downtown Birminghan and its airport. Overall it's very good hotel to stay. The only thing i was not satisfied was the tv; don't have many chanels to choose from and room telephone; don't have access til call international.

3 months in The Birmingham Hotel
I stayed here for 3 months while working in Birmingham, and recommended it to several of my colleagues. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are big (bigger than I am used to getting in Travelodge, Premier Inn, etc). There are no baths, so the shower is in a cubicle which was a good size in every room I stayed in. The only downside is that the shower head is fixed directly to the wall, but the heat of the water is constant, and has good pressure. The decor is a little in need of repaintng in the corridors, as the walls are scuffed/marked in several places (probably due to bags and childrens mucky hands), though the rooms are fine. The car park is very large and more than sufficient for the size of the hotel (I never saw it more than half full, even when the hotel was fully booked). There is a pool table and large TV in the bar. Overall, good value for money.
