Nov 2024 - This is a very old pub, persevered very well and in keeping with it's original historic 656 year old design. Great food and drink selection and wonderful staff.
With that in mind, it is a pub, and therefore very noisy until around 12am later at weekends. As it's old it's also very creaky, so expect to here residents walking to and from the bathroom / toilets.
The rooms are what you'd expect in keeping with an old building and a little cold in winter.
The bathrooms are separate and shared with plenty of hot water, but the mattresses are awful, I ended up sleeping on the floor.
The Old Crown is about 25 mins walk from the town centre with a 1 in 4 hill climb. Sadly though the surrounding area is run down, with graffiti and building rubble everywhere.
Overall I really enjoyed the place, but it's location lets it down.

Always love staying in this pub and this time an added bonus of an Oktoberfest night had a fabulous time as our gig was cancelled comfy bed and a good price highly recommend
A nice little hotel but it is a bar with a 1am licence, this means of a saturday night i stayed there was alot of sound leakage, i recon midweek it probably calmer, the riom was nice and i had a heavy discount thanks to this site loyalty so well worth the £17 i paid,

One very badly lit room. The curtains were torn in the bedroom. Bathroom had no curtains or blinds so light was coming into the room from early morning. Over priced for what is a poor quality room.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Really noisy throughout night- lots of car horns in the area, late night talking and doors banging in the hotel/pub.
Pub is the oldest in West Midlands and seems very popular, but area immediately opposite is run down and ready for re development.
super clean and well quiet room above perfectly located very old school boozer (the oldest in brum?) watch out for the low beams on your way to the room. m
No parking as advertised when I booked a year ago. It's basically a night club in the garden, so just be aware it wasn't a quiet stay. The communal bathrooms were very clean and a great shower. Nice pub downstairs. All in All good value for the night
