Awful experience, only good thing was its location
The whole experience staying at this property was bad from start to finish. 24 hours out from check in I was sent an email requesting further payment to cover potential breakages. As I wasn't accessing my email and hadn't paid the owner messaged me 8 hours before we were to arrive. Check in was not going to happen unless paid so had no choice, which greatly affected the holiday budget.
The house was not cosy, as described. There were so many unfinished or safety problems:
1. The steep stairs had no bannister (high risk of falls) and the gripper rod poked through the carpet (slicing my son's heel open). Too dangerous to take bags upstairs.
2. Loft hatch was just a hole in the ceiling.
3. Unable to unlock back door so no rear fire access or to washing line (no clothes airer either)
4. Smoke detector was covered in plastic
5. Accommodation has beds for 7 people but only a 3 person couch and 2 dining room chairs.
6. Kitchen did not have saucepans or utensils
7. Place needed a good clean, under the sink in the bathroom was vile.
8. Shower over bath had no curtain so water went everywhere and floor got super slippy.
9. The front step was very deep and hard to access the house and the front area was overgrown with weeds.
When issues were raised communication was sent to owner who managed to organise delivery of 2 dining chairs, airer and cooking items. However the stay was ruined by constantly having to ask for things that should be already in the house, and having to be at the house when they were to be delivered.
