We stayed one night. The front desk clerk ( I forgot his name but he’s an older black man) that was there when we arrived was nice and straight to the point. The room we had had dead roaches in the cabinets, and the walls are thin. You can basically hear everything from other guests. When we were leaving the morning clerk (older white lady) was almost harassing a guest to hurry up and check out. She was at their door basically almost trying to put them out even after the guests told her ok give them time. The manager set at the front desk, heard the exchange, and did nothing. Yea, we won’t be back and don’t recommend

They advertise an indoor pool but….. the windows and doors to the outside were broken letting all the cold air in. Water was murky and it looked like no one had vacuumed the pool in a LONG time! Unusable! And there’s no USB plugs in the room to charge your phone!! Rooms otherwise were fine ( except for a filthy microwave, which I never used.) Breakfast was average but for this older hotel I was surprised there were hot options at all! I’d say pay a little more and go to the Drury Inn next door!

Sliding doors were broken in the pool area they were left open, the main doors to go outside from the pool area were broken, our sink was broken in the room, a towel had a big brown stain on it. Our dead bolt wouldn’t lock in the room. No refund or discount.

Very nice hotel! Clean rooms and spacious rooms. Pool towels were nasty, but other than that the place was great. Would stay again!

The room was so-so regarding overall cleanliness. The room was at the end of a long hallway and in the corner adjacent a room with a loud dog...that barked every time we moved around, that was not okay. Here is what was a PROBLEM...upon checkout I told the lacking in customer service desk clerk that the bed sheets were clean but the blanket(which we took off the bed after my sanitizing) was NOT clean! What make this a problem is the desk clerk either didn't like her job or she didn't like me...either way that was her problem not mine!!! She DID NOT acknowledge anything I said or offer an apology!! Management needs to make sure that the desk clerks are somewhat cordial to ALL people and if there is a complaint it should be acknowledge and an apology offered for the inconvenience. Needless to say the next time I am in Birmingham for an over night stay if Best Western Carlton is the only hotel with availability...I will sleep in my vehicle before staying there again!!!

Granddaughter's Birthday
I like the fact it had two TV's. My Granddaughter was able to watch what she wanted in the sitting area. The pool didn't look that clean. The beds were comfortable. I wish bacon can be a choice of meat for breakfast. Shower was small. Me and my Granddaughter did see a big roach coming off the elevator on our last nights stay. Pest control is important. Convenient to shopping and restaurants. It was an ok stay.

The experience was ok. The staff didn’t bother us! The rooms just look like jail cells kinda of. Like old but they tried to update them. But the staff was really nice and I liked the fact that they didn’t mess with us.
