Upon arrival, could not access lockbox because code was different than what was sent from owner so that put us in a frenzy to start with. Next, upon walking into unit, we quickly discovered that the property had not been cleaned at all other than beds made and towels set out. Partial rolls of toilet paper left, no garbage bag, pubic hairs on floor all over bathroom and in sink. Food all over stove, in garbage can. I immediately sent pics to owner and she offered for cleaners to come back in the morning. At this point, I had already started cleaning so I told her this and that I would just like to be compensated for it not being cleaned. She didn’t respond until the next day when I text her to let her know that I had to wash both sets of sheets at 10:00 the night before (shame on me for next checking when I realized how filthy the house is). At this point, she tells me she can contact VRBO to see if they can put me in another unit. Mind you, I’m an hour away watching my son play baseball. I told her that after I cleaned the apartment myself, I felt comfortable enough to stay and not have to repack and relocate to who knows where so she offered to refund the cleaning fee. I guess this was fair but I just want everyone to be aware that this property needs a thorough deep cleaning as well as a regular cleaning before the next guest shows up. I sent lots of pics to owner. I’ve stayed in plenty of VRBO’s, bnb, and hotels and never walked into one so filthy.
