This historic home has German heritage, a homestead built by sheer will and perseverance. It graced the Reading Eagle on October 19, 1941. The Headline, "Woman at Work - She Helps Her Family Build Home", is a tribute to the immigrants from all over the world who fashion an amazing life from nothing. The apartment is original and built during the 1930-40's. It took 8 years to build this home. Every stone was picked up by hand by two boys. The apartment was a payment in kind for 8 years of labor. The boys carried masonry tools to school daily.

We are located three miles from Daniel Boone Homestead. Easy access to route 422 and 562. Explore historic Berks County PA. Parking is available on site, right in front of three car garage. Limit one car per guest. 10+ restaurants within a 5 minute drive including Exeter Family and Sunset Diners. Washer & Dryer availability for all Long Term Guests over 7 days. Guests are fine providing you make prior arrangements.

Lovely place and great location
We came to the area for a graduation for your cousins. Room was so comfortable and the host was friendly. We fed the swans and had a relaxing time in between all the visiting that we did.

Cheaper than a hotel.
My wife and I Arrived on Monday 11/4/19 for a five night stay. We were very disappointed when we went inside to discover we would not have the cottage to ourselves like the description said. You come in the front door to walk up a steep narrow staircase to your little upstairs apartment with the owner’s living downstairs. The bath tub had obviously not been cleaned by how much hair was in it and a hairball in the drain, but don’t worry there’s cleaning supplies to clean it yourself. Communicating through the Vrbo website is a hassle, and Kimberly was very overbearing with all the messages she was sending just because we asked 1 question then didn’t have time to reply “ok”. This place only has old radiator heaters so it will be below 70 degrees pretty much the whole time, we bought a room heater. The location was good.
