Lovely home in the Columbia River Gorge
My wife and I stayed here while visiting family on the area. It was such a relaxing spot to come home to at the end of a long day out. Sitting by the Little White Salmon river right in the backyard is incredibly relaxing. Also an easy ~25 minute drive into Hood River.

Amazing Anniversary Retreat
We had a wonderful time during our stay, celebrating our wedding anniversary. The private natural setting, the sound of the river, and the chance to unplug and relax made this the ideal spot for our get-a-way. Brent was a very thoughtful and responsive host, and the home is beautiful. Looking forward to next time!

Comfort in the forest
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfortable home in the forest. It rained 2 of the 4 days we were there, but that made a nice excuse to relax in an armchair next to the amazing windows with a book and a mug of tea. The driveway is roughly 1/3 mile long, which makes a nice daily stroll. We loved seeing the skunk cabbage and pacific dogwood in bloom. We also enjoyed exploring the area, per Brent's recommendations. Brent is a kind, friendly host and we are grateful to have had this time in Willard!

Enjoyed our stay very much, relaxed and close to nature
Given very clear direction by owner who also responded promptly with all queries. Home has beautiful picture windows to enjoy view of the river and surrounding woods. We're out during day to visit the Columbia River scenery and the long summer days made our evening back at house very enjoyable as well.

The wedding
Rented the house to attend a wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. Great very remote location. Wedding party was in Hood River which is about 30 minutes from the house but a beautiful drive. House worked out great.

Peaceful retre5
Deep silence in a woodland setting, with gentle river sounds in the background. The house is very well equipped and comfortable, and the host is most responsive. We came seeking retreat from a busy life, and were renewed as we had hoped. The property is close to two parks, where we took lovely walks. Enjoyed seeing a herd of elks passing through one morning!

A great cabin!
We stayed at the cabin for six nights, and everything was great. We wanted to hike in the Gifford Pinchot forest, so this was a great location for day hikes. The owner was easy to work with and the house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It didn't bother us, but we didn't have cell phone service or WiFi that worked reliably while we were there. Good to disconnect for a few days!

Incredibly outstanding
Accommodations were primo. Location was a bit hard to find. Map only took I on to Willard A tenant from Willard assisted us in locating the house once we explained to him that we were lost Wishes there had been a trail down to the water but just the same, the panoramic view was to die for One small issue. We encountered little tiny ants on the kitchen counters and even tho there was WI-FI available we had no phone service Definitely would recommend this location to friends & family Reason for our stay was to attend great nephew’s wedding in Hood River

Soothing getaway!
This is such a nourishing and relaxing space! It was clean and lovely inside, everything you could possibly need and…to have the windows opening to the sights and sounds of the river and the quiet of the surrounding forest was incredible. I stayed 4 nights… all that were available or I would have stayed longer! Elk came through the property every morning and night, an amazing old growth stand is just up the street and this was a great home base for accessing many hiking trails and outdoor explorations. My favorite day, though, was my ‘stay in’ day. Just lounged in the sun outside by the river and felt renewed. Brent is host extraordinaire! So responsive and happy to offer ideas about what to check out in the area. You can tell he takes great pride in sharing his family land. I would love to come back!

Great Family Getaway
We loved our stay. The house is comfortable with enough room for 7 of us. Kitchen is great. The outside was our favorite part as we spent each night in chairs by the river (big stream about 30 feet wide and 6 - 12 inches deep). The star gazing is wonderful. Tip: You can't really get to the river by the house, but there is a path to the right where you can get there. We saw a deer on the property and deer and elk while driving around. There is beautiful scenery pretty much any where you drive. Our downstairs bed was comfortable, and we were able to stay cool with the windows open. Tip: you can regulate the temperature by how much you have the windows open. Our only complaint was the upstairs was uncomfortably hot. More AC would help or upstairs windows that opened wider.

Great Getaway Home
We had a great fall getaway at the end of September 2016. This home was quiet and away in a beautiful location surrounded by forest. The Little White Salmon river was a tranquil view through big windows on both floors. And you could hear the peaceful trickle of the river at night from the upstair's king bedroom. The Sauna was also a nice added touch, and the grill was new. Brent Homan was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early and leave late, and all his directions were very good. We enjoyed looking out at mother nature every morning as we had coffee, and every evening as we had a drink. We hiked each day in the beautiful Gifford Pinchot Forest near the Pacific Coast Trail and then Mt. Adams. And we took a beautiful fall colors loop drive to Trout Lake and then to White Salmon, WA. I could go on and on. We will definitely be coming back again. The Youngs

Home in a Beautiful "Campground" Setting
This spotlessly clean home is set far off the road in a woodland setting along a river. The large windows and light-colored wood make the home feel bright and cheery even on overcast days. The kitchen is well-supplied with nice cook ware and there is plenty of seating at the dining table. Our family (3-year old grandson, son/daughter-in-law, ourselves) had plenty of comfortable private and shared space. The home could easily accommodate more using a day-bed upstairs and fold-out couch in the living area. For those who want to stay connected, WiFi and the satellite TV work great. No fancy deck or lawn, but that was the charm for us... just natural. There are two campgrounds very close by with trails to explore. We also checked out the alpaca farm - very fun and interesting. We came for some springer fishing, and the home is within 20 minutes of the launches. Plenty of parking area for a boat and trailer. The Gorge offers all kinds of adventure! Brent is a great host. Check in/out instructions timely and clear. We also appreciated hearing about area history, places to check out, the home-building process. I gave the accuracy listing 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the pictures don't do the home justice :) Our grandson summed it up best when he rolled into his driveway: "Noooo! Back to the 'cation house with gramps and grams!"

Incredible, relaxing experience!
We'd like to call this a two story cottage nestled in the woods away from all noise, outside from the beauty of nature. Daily visits by a mama turkey and her little ones as well as deer with her little ones. The creek was ideal to watch and relax while our daughters decided to wade across to the other side in the cold water. We fished in Drano Lake and enjoyed our time while our daughters went on various hikes, encountering a rattler walking up Dog Creek. Waterfalls everywhere and we took in as many as we could within our five day visit. The cottage is well-lit inside and has everything needed for a relaxing stay, but make sure you come prepared with all the food & necessities to prepare meals. There's a couple grocery stores and Walmart across the bridge in Hood River as well as a nice A+J grocery store on the WA side in Stevenson. Brent was an excellent host and told me of some of the woodwork he did inside the cottage. Definitely one of the most memorable trips we've taken as a family and highly recommend his place! Thanks for sharing with us!

off the beaten path
This property is a work in progress. The owner was kind and helpful. We had an issue with both small ants around the kitchen and larger black ants which apparently had entered the house while window work was bring done. There were few places to put our clothes...no closets and no dressers that weren't already filled...quite awkward for sure. The river on the property was nice but is inaccessible due to plant growth...I had my pole to fish, but really couldn't. It would seem that the property could also have a fire ring as two campgrounds within a mile provide them, but was told that the fire situation from a few years ago was the reason. So these were disappointments, but overall the stay was decent. With some attention to the items mentioned, this property would be much improved.

Beautiful Location
Some of my husband's family decided to rent this lovely cabin for a weekend get-together. The location was serene, the kitchen well stocked, as well as plentiful bathroom amenities (towels, soaps, tissue, etc.). Brent was very communicative. Although the cabin does not have AC, a trip to the river just below the cabin was a quick remedy. I would agree with the reviewer who mentioned the low water pressure in the upstairs shower, but it did not bother us enough to lower the rating. I also noted that a mirror has been added to the upstairs water closet as suggested by a previous reviewer, thank you for that. The property was clean and welcoming, like walking into a hotel room, even the towels were folded in a hospitality-type fold. We would definitely stay here again. One suggestion I would make for an upgrade would be to install screen doors, or the type that hang in the doorway and are removable. We happened to stay during a very hot weekend and around dinner time the cabin became very hot. We ended up opening the doors to create air flow regardless of several bugs that came in. Providing a picnic table would also be a welcome addition.

The babbling brook!
Spent 2+ weeks here. Our 7 y.o. grandson had his first fishing experience in the river. We loved the quiet, solitude, wildlife, dark skies and the wonderful murmur of Little White Salmon river in the background. The house had plenty of room for the 5 of us on weekends, and during the quiet weekdays it was nice to stretch out. It is about a 25 minute drive into the city of White Salmon. There's a local grocery store there that will have pretty much everything you need, and after shopping have lunch at the bakery which has wonderful sandwiches. We didn't want to leave! Brent is a wonderful host, he was great for suggesting local activities and filling us in on the history of Willard.
