Beach and offers accommodation on two floors for up to 8 people.
The property has recently undergone extensive improvements and renovation which includes an extension. The ground floor has a large living room with cosy wood burner and a Smart TV and a kitchen/diner in the new part of the property with everything you’d expect in a modern kitchen plus the added comfort of underfloor heating.
On the ground floor there is also a handy wet room with a walk-in shower, toilet and basin. The garage functions as a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, plus iron/ironing board, and a convenient storage area for guest bicycles and surfboards. Highchairs and a fireguard are stored here.
From the kitchen you can take in far-reaching rural views and walk out onto the balcony decking and enjoy the outdoor space, including a lawn garden area and outdoor seating. There is parking for one car on the private driveway at the front of the cottage (further parking can be found on-road). On the first floor there are four bedrooms; two kings, one double and a twin room (with two single beds). There are two first floor bathrooms, one with a bath and shower-over, underfloor heating and heated towel rail, the second bathroom has a shower cubicle and heated towel rail.
Abbotsham is a small village in the area known as ‘Hame’ in the Domesday Book and is close to Westward Ho! which itself offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafes, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. There is also an excellent pub within short walking distance.
Very close by are two popular top family attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park, and if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, The Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many and the Southwest Coastal Path also runs through Westward Ho! This beautiful area is a must for keen runners and walkers! Swimming, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too.
The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed approximately 3 miles away providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest coastal, riverside and woodland countryside and scenery.
For a day with a difference take a boat (or helicopter) trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
For visitors seeking a piece of Devon life, the towns of Bideford and Barnstaple provide the opportunity to wander during their weekly pannier markets, with local produce and crafts on offer. The picturesque villages of Appledore and Intow, sitting opposite each other at the mouth of the Torridge Estuary both offer a range of local pub and dining experiences with beautiful views. Being very close to the A39 Atlantic Highway, you will also be conveniently located for day trips to other stunning sea-view locations such as Clovelly and Hartland, and North Cornwall.
