I’ve stayed at this property multiple times and never had a major issue. However, on this occasion I spent 2 nights without any hot water and therefore no ability to wash. I mentioned to reception after the first night, expecting it to be resolved but it was not. I was told to email them after the second night to discuss compensation and whilst the beginning of the conversation was good it amounted to very little. I was promised “head office” would be in touch to resolve the situation, which didn’t happen. Rather than any compensation I was then offered a discount on my next nights stay, totalling a measly £11 discount, which felt like a further insult after not being able to wash for 3 days. Steer clear at all costs!

Tired hotel
A very tired hotel. Room had a broken window, peeling paint and bar was out of draft beer and closed early. Fortunately room was clean if dated. Needs a big makeover.

This is a great old place and is obviously tired in places but if you want a good nights sleep then don’t choose a hotel on the main square Lots of noise and light No breakfast service dispute being on the booking ?? Only informed upon arrival

Great place
I’ve stayed here for a few weeks with work and had very pleasant stay. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. The rooms are large and the location is perfect with plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Carpets dirty , no cold water in shower , shower didn’t work properly, no handle on toilet chain. Window was propped up with a toilet roll . Tv didn’t work , shower head was filthy. Room didn’t get serviced and was unbelievably hot

Having read the earlier reviews we were not sure what to expect but, its clear the new owners have spent alot if time and money improving the oremises. The hotel was basic and good value for money. Beds were comfy and the room clean. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, there was a very limited menu, but what we had was excellent value for money just wished there had been more choice. Breakfast was lovely we only had the small breakfast but we felt there was plenty of it. Staff are so friendly and we felt at home from the minute we walked in. All trying very hard to make sure we had all our needs met.

Fine for a business stay.
Offering a reasonable room at a competitive price. Comfortable bed good shower and a quiet room once other residents had settled in. Heavy doors cause an intermittent banging.
