Candlewick Cottage is a delightful cottage, tucked away down a quiet lane in Lower Heyford, an idyllic village just six miles from the historic market town of Bicester. Located on the Oxfordshire Way, North Oxfordshire known as the gateway to The Cotswolds.
The owners have renovated the property in 2021, turning it into a beautiful space for the perfect getaway for couples. The ground floor accommodation is arranged in one, open plan room, comprising of a modern kitchen, complete with all the appliances that you might need for a relaxing break. The sitting area is the perfect place to relax and unwind; either reminiscing about your adventures or kicking back and relaxing with a good book. You will also find the luxurious bathroom on the ground floor, complete with a waterfall head shower.
As you walk up the spiral staircase to the first floor you will find the beautiful, but very simply furnished whitewashed bedroom, giving the space a light and airy feel. To the front of the cottage is the garden, with sufficient space and a seating area for guests to enjoy a spot of al-fresco dining, or just a glass of something bubbly!
If self-catering isn’t your thing, then don’t worry, two hundred yards away you have local inn. All in all, Candlewick Cottage is the perfect location for couples looking for a week away in peace and quiet. Lower Heyford is a delightful village, nestling in a valley with the River Cherwell parallel to the Oxford canal. Farmland surrounds the village, and the local scenery is wonderful with a beautiful little church in the heart of the village. Lower Heyford is well situated for access to either Junction 9 or 10 of the M40 motorway giving good access to London and The Midlands.
The Cherwell Valley railway line, Heyford station, is within the village that connects to Oxford and Banbury and there is also a local bus to take you to Oxford and Banbury. For those looking for hiking adventures there are delightful country walks close by, check out the canal path and river walks, along with plenty of Oxfordshire walks and trails. There are many local attractions to enjoy on your visit to Candlewick Cottage including Blenheim Place, Rousham House and Gardens and Heyford Wharf where there is a canal boat hire.
