Our experience was so bad that we checked out after 1 night and asked for a refund for the next night. The outside of the main building and grounds are beautiful, but the rest of our experience was too awful to stay.
-After we used the toilet once (not doing anything abnormal there) it blocked. They said there is no handyman on Sundays so it couldn't be fixed. It's mad a 4star hotel couldn't call one out. We had to use the toilet of another room in the building. We didn't want to move to a different type of room as specifically booked this room category as it opens onto the grounds - that is what we came for!
-The food at dinner was so bad that we had to order breakfast from ubereats as we did not want to risk eating there again. All radiators were off in the dining room and one window was wide open, so we ate in winter coats - it was like they make no effort unless there is a wedding.
-The radiators in the room went off even though it was very cold
-Neither of their wifi options worked in the annex- clearly it was coming from the main building and there was no working router in the annex. We reported this multiple times and nothing was done.
-They advertise smart tvs in their website but they were old tvs with only youtube
-The bath was filthy
-Telephone intermittently didn't work
-At 10am, despite the do-not-disturb sign, staff knocked on the door and came in, waking me
-Despite all these problems, we were only offered a free meal, no refund for the night we stayed.
