"I travelled with a friend and we absolutely loved Allogio al San Girolamo. Filippo is an excellent host, the breakfast was amazing, and the place is idyllic. We even got to see a show of fireflies at night, which confirmed this is such a quiet and pollution-free space. Will go again! "

"We were thinking about staying for the night in San Marino, when I stumbled on this beautiful treasure just by chance. Located only about 20 minutes away through winding mountain roads - this is a 1000 year old castle that a wonderfully friendly couple had bought and renovated into a handful of guest rooms. You've got to get off the main road and head up a winding dirt road that isn't it great shape but gets you to the hotel. The rooms have lots of exposed rock and the floors are heated - the...

"Location was its best feature (across the street from the train station). You have to call beforehand to make an appointment to check-in since there is no front desk. Service was very chaotic (they misunderstood how many people were staying in the room, they didn't know we had already paid for the room, they gave us the key to the wrong room's safe, etc.) but they made up for it by being friendly and cheerful unlike many other hotels in northern Italy where the staff can be frosty and awkward....

"Thin walls, people partying in the halls all hours of the night, dog barking all hours of the night in the hallway, lobby, apartment next door. Coffee machine in lobby not working. Maid and girl at check in were nice. Other than that, no service. No response to emails or phone calls. Charge for use of kitchenette contrary to Hotels.com listing. Great location."
