For people who love to be at Princess Margaret Beach

The apartment can be rented as either one bedroom or two bedrooms. See rates. One queen size bed and 2 twin beds that, on request, could be made up together as king. Both bedrooms are the same size with the same bath facilities. One bedroom rental includes both shower rooms - his and hers!

A Shade of Blues is a Caribbean style villa on the hillside above Princess Margaret beach in Bequia, an island in The Grenadines. Note - on a hill. Please be prepared for steps to improve your fitness.

The Apartment sits privately at the top of the building with its own balcony. Each bedroom / bath area is the same size. The eat-in kitchen is nicely equipped for holiday living with your own bbq outside.

The rooms were designed for open-air living with wide louvred folding doors opening to the balcony and the stunning view of Princess Margaret beach and anchorage below. Rooms have cathedral style ceilings with ceiling fans in all areas - including the balcony - and (limited) air conditioning in the bedrooms.

A shared pool is perfect for cooling off during the you will really enjoy swimming at Princess Margaret, which you can walk to / from in your bathing suits. At early morning or sunset periods you can be the only person in the water... The waters are crystal clear and sometimes a turtle swims offshore.

The apartment faces west - great for enjoying a sundowner and the often magnificent sunsets. Can enjoy Cocktails at Jack's Bar just below us. Jack's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will also deliver a takeaway - easy eating!

You have the option, at additional cost, of more housekeeping services.

There is a beautiful cliff-side Trail from Princess Margaret into The Harbour or over to Lower Bay, so can walk most everywhere. Vehicle hire not really necessary.

About Bequia: To find out more about this unspoilt, beautiful island, try google It's all there...
Visit Bequia This Week and Bequia What's On online to get a flavour of nightlife. Expect more music and dancing during the winter season.

Bequia is less expensive than Barbados. There are inexpensive places to eat out.

There is no need to hire a vehicle, unless you do not like to walk. The island is small, and safe for walking. Taxis are fun and inexpensive - either a boat or a traditional back of a pick-up truck. There are also air conditioned vans. Very cheap dollar (EC$) buses run the main route from harbour to airport-side (but not to the airport).

About travel to Bequia: Please feel free to email with any questions. Bequia remains special largely because it requires more effort to get there. As most tourists choose to return, most find it well worth it!

Money: The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar ($EC). This is tied to the US dollar at 2.67. Local currency is easily obtained from the two holes in the wall / automatic tellers in the harbour - remember to tell your bank that you are travelling to St Vincent & The Grenadines before you leave home.

US dollars are always well received.

Almost all restaurants and shops take credit cards.

The views were very nice. Did not like the fact it was hard to take showers due to lack of water pressure our entire stay. It was a hike to get into town. Had to rely on taxi service. For everything beyond going to the beach.

Great Place
This property was in an ideal location, just above and overlooking Princess Margaret Beach. We were able to walk to grocery stores and some great restaurants! A Shade of Blues was a quiet location with just the waves putting you to sleep. Monica was always quick to respond to our needs. I would highly recommend this beautiful property. Hope to return!

Idyllic
Our family of 4 stayed in the upper apartment, which allowed for privacy and a magnificent view overlooking Princess Margaret Bay, a short walk down the hill. The infinity pool and adjoining sun deck were perfect after a day at the beach. Monica and David were excellent hosts, hooking us up with Julian the taxi driver who was timely and available for us our entire stay on the island. We would definitely recommend this beautifully decorated in blue whale motif guest house.

Excellent Location
We had an excellent stay at the blue house. The location was excellent with great access to the beach and a short beautiful walk along the shore to town. The outdoor space was very nice and a dip in the pool was much appreciated at the end of the walk up from the beach. If you plan on doing your own cooking make sure you buy charcoal. There were many places in town to buy food and drink as well as an abundance of fresh local produce. Cabs were abundant and fairly priced although we used Julianne who was recommended by our hosts. This place is enough our top go to spots for a vacation.

What a gem!!! This place spared no attention to detail it was better than we ever expected. Located in hillside above Princess Margaret Bay with awesome views. Everything in walking distance and Jacks bar is at bottom of steps. Best beach on island is your to use.villa has all items you need and very classy. It is an open Air villa but has AC units in bedrooms. Would highly recommend this place.

Property setting is high with great view below of beach, boats & beautiful sunsets.
We stayed at Shade of Blues for one night prior to sailing & will return for a few nights post sail. Accommodations are lovely! 2 bedrooms each with private showers & bathroom areas. A/C available but we preferred the open air breeze. Owners are super! Julian was the taxi service recommended by the owners and was reasonable, punctual, friendly & delivered much appreciated assistance taking our belongings to the top of the stairs.

A Fantastic Stay!
A Shade of Blues is perfectly located between Port Elizabeth and Lower Bay, offering a convenient location with easy walking access to 2 beaches, groceries, and restaurants, and stunning views. The property is lush and beautiful, with a wonderful pool and lovely gardens. The unit has two well-appointed bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and with the fans and breeze, the AC wasn’t required. We enjoyed the outdoor shower experience! Thank you to Monica, David, and Cas for making our stay so enjoyable. We hope to return next year!

Great spot lovely position
Absolutely gorgeous spot, well equipped, comfy bed and linen. Mosquito nets but hardly necessary. A/C but tried not to use it. Balcony can be short of breeze and a bit overly warm late afternoon but that’s the tiniest criticism. Pool really gorgeous, views stunning. Great hosts, would recommend this spot to anyone as long as they can climb steps. But honestly this Two bedroom two bathroom good kitchen amazing balcony is probably the loveliest rental on the island. Top top marks all round. Our hosts were super helpful in providing anything we needed!

A month on Bequia
We stayed in Shades of Blue apartment for the month of October. The view from the balcony is incredible and you can never tire of waking up to Princess Margaret beach. The apartment is high up on the hill so will only suit reasonably fit travellers as there are a lot of steps up to the property but once there it is worth it. The Belmont walkway is a bonus for walking into Port Elizabeth and is by far the prettiest walk into a town that we know of. If coming back if loaded with shopping a taxi was a good choice. October was extremely quiet and only a couple of restaurants were open so we self catered for nearly all of our holiday. Lots of options for interesting meals from Barracuda bought on the beach to anything you could ever require from Doris's, but at a price. We shopped at knights grocers and Darkes fruit and veg stall. The apartment is lovely with wonderful comfy beds and luxurious cotton sheets. 2 outside showers which were a lovely treat. The infinity pool is just gorgeous and a very welcome treat after managing the steps. Princess Margaret beach awaits you at the bottom of the steps and the lovely Fay who sells drinks, souvenirs and t shirts will watch over your bags whilst you swim. On cooler days we walked to Friendship bay, Paget Farm and also Crescent beach. You can use the taxi services which are quite unusual and driven by some wonderful characters Elvis, Fatman and Elson to name a few. Most charge 20 ECD (£5) for the short ride out of town and the nominated taxi driver for the apartment Julian charged 25ecd and on our departure 40ecd as it was a 6 am pick up. We used the ferry to St Vincent 25 ECD per person each way. An interesting tip we heard about but would consider is to hire a car in St Vincent as it is cheaper and you can stock up at the supermarket before the ferry across. The staff Cass and Ottley at the property are lovely and are very knowledgable. The garden is fascinating with lots of different fruit trees, mangoes. plantain, passion fruit, pomegranate to name a few. Thank you to Monica for sharing her home.

Great place - didn't want to leave!
My husband and I stayed at A Shade of Blues in January 2015. The fact that we plan to return in 2016 is a testament to how much we enjoyed the wonderful accommodations and the hospitality of our hosts, Monica and David. A Shade of Blues is ideally located right above Jack's Bar on Princess Margaret Beach. We were able to walk into town for dinner or groceries and to other beaches as well. The view from the balcony is magnificent! The rooms are comfortable, clean and well-appointed with luxury bedding and attest to a great attention to detail. The outdoor shower was a nice touch! One thing to note is that there is a bit of a walk up from and down to the beach - about 75 steps from the house to the road and another 75 through Jack's Bar to the beach. We usually broke the trek up with a refreshing dip in the infinity pool. There is a wide variety of restaurants and bars on the island, all very good. We particularly enjoyed L'Auberge and Fernando's. The snorkelling off Devil's Table is not to be missed, neither is an excursion on the schooner Friendship Rose. We can't wait to get back to Bequia and to A Shade of Blues.

Taxi, Wassertaxi, Housekeeper. Es war toll... Wir können das Appartment nur empfehlen. Vielen Dank

A week in the "Shades of Blue"
We spent a week in June in the "Shades of Blue" apartment. It was the perfect location in a lovely apartment sensitively designed to reflect the effortless serenity of this beautiful Caribbean island. The location is directly above one the beach - capturing the stunning views of the bay, the idyllic surroundings with its lush landscaped coast and its transparent waters. We didn't even need a car for the whole time we spent there - we strolled into town one day, the other we took a sea taxi and another we took a mini-bus. If we were searching for tranquillity we found it here in its location; when we wanted privacy - we took a dip in the generously sized infinity-edged pool or sat in the cool veranda looking down on the gorgeous scenery; if we wanted good food we popped down to Jack's bar on the beach or sauntered down to the bars and restaurants on Lower Bay. There is a bright, light and breezy feel to this apartment. The well executed detailing is evident from the en-suite facilities, to the polished hard landscaping of the infinity edged pool (seeming to plunge into Admiralty Bay), right up to it's well equipped kitchen/diner and perfectly located veranda. I would highly recommend this apartment wholeheartedly and would definitely choose to come again. I've been to Bequia countless times but had never stayed in an apartment before that has complemented the surroundings as much as this.
