Belveglio is one of the 18 municipalities of the Nizza D.O.C.G. Consortium. which prides itself on producing the best Barbera in Piedmont and here, on the crest of a hill with a 360° view, a small chapel dedicated to Santa Petronilla lovingly welcomes you to the property of "Casa Leonarda", a place of peace and silence that the elderly inhabitants of the town still like to call, as they once did, "la cà d'Leonarda". The origins of the farmhouse date back to the early 18th century. Built and owned since then by the Caratti family, it was sold at the end of the 1960s by their descendant Leonarda to the current owner family who initially, when all the surrounding land was still used only for the cultivation of vines, used it exclusively for the production of wine. Subsequently, the house was used as an elegant rural residence for hunting (a "hunting lodge") and only in the last year, thanks to the affection and passion of the young descendant Eugenio, the house was transformed into a holiday residence, respectfully preserving its original, distinctly rural external appearance and equipping the interior with all modern comforts. From the beautiful infinity pool the view of the UNESCO site, called Colline Vinicole delle Langhe, del Roero e del Monferrato (Wine Hills of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato), is enchanting. The large portico beckons to conviviality and the large panoramic loggia on the first floor, with its sitting room, is the perfect place for an afternoon siesta or for spending the evenings outdoors in pleasant company with, of course, a good glass of local wine.
Interior:
Casa Leonarda has two floors connected by internal stairs and a lift. The main entrance door leads into the large open-plan area on the ground floor comprising a dining area, communicating with the kitchen, and the living room connected to a hallway with access from the portico, with a lift up to the first floor. The ground floor is completed by a double bedroom from where a corridor leads to a bathroom with shower and to the hallway with a second door with access from the garden. In front of this second access door a flight of 15 steps leads up to the first floor with three double bedrooms, three bathrooms with shower (of which one is en suite), a room that can be used as a study and a corridor leading to the large loggia with an outdoor sitting area with table, chairs and sunbeds, a laundry room and the lift. Air conditioning in all bedrooms and living room.
Park:
Casa Leonarda is surrounded by approximately 2,000 sq m of level terrain and garden. In front of the main façade is a beautiful lawn that surrounds the infinity pool, beyond which bushes of rosemary descend to the fields below planted with hazelnut trees. Wisteria adorns part of the property, fig, apple and cherry trees produce sweet fruit while an elm provides shade to the small chapel dedicated to Santa Petronilla. At the entrance to the property is a large parking area and, on the nearby gravel surface towards the swimming pool, plumes of Pampas grass soar or sway in the wind. The large portico with mobile barbecue, together with the gazebo next to the swimming pool, are providential oases of shade and ideal for outdoor dining. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The rectangular infinity pool, measuring 8 x 4 m with a constant depth of 1.5 m, is lined in anthracite-coloured PVC, is purified with chlorine and has internal lighting and 4 beautiful Roman steps for access to the water. The solarium, paved in washed gravel, separates the swimming pool from the large lawn and the handy gazebo where you can shelter in the shade and have your meals. The area is equipped with an external hot and cold-water shower while the internal lighting creates enchanting night-time atmospheres. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.
